Spottie wrote this on thread your favorite nba players for watching on board I Love Hoops on Dec 5, 2018

for this seasons holdovers I'd go:

Covington
Jokic
Giannis
Embiid

and then add:

Montrezl (classic hustle guy)
Sabonis (love a big that can dish)
De'aron Fox (push push push)
Shai GA (love how calmly and in control he plays)
Luka (fun to see all the ways he can create_

Lmao a lot changes in 5 years

infinite wiggles (Spottie), Wednesday, 24 January 2024 04:04 (two years ago)

lag∞n, Wednesday, 24 January 2024 04:05 (two years ago)

I’m also an anti Luka guy now.

infinite wiggles (Spottie), Wednesday, 24 January 2024 04:06 (two years ago)

i still like luka i dont think hes that evil

lag∞n, Wednesday, 24 January 2024 04:06 (two years ago)

Yah xp haha why did I have rob on there?????? I musta had him on my fantasy team and liked watching him rack up stocks

infinite wiggles (Spottie), Wednesday, 24 January 2024 04:07 (two years ago)

lol

lag∞n, Wednesday, 24 January 2024 04:07 (two years ago)

I should add… I believe in Sga and think he can def be the best player on a championship team. and I do enjoy aspects of his game. Too much head snapping foul baiting for me tho, aesthetically.

Luka… needs to leave refs alone.

infinite wiggles (Spottie), Wednesday, 24 January 2024 04:11 (two years ago)

i like shai he does so many weird drives

lag∞n, Wednesday, 24 January 2024 04:12 (two years ago)

ciderpress, Wednesday, 24 January 2024 04:13 (two years ago)

Clay, Wednesday, 24 January 2024 04:33 (two years ago)

I dunno how exactly to explain this but both his hoops style and personality come off like he swapped bodies with a 14 year old who's really good at NBA2K

frogbs, Wednesday, 24 January 2024 04:34 (two years ago)

lmao

lag∞n, Wednesday, 24 January 2024 04:36 (two years ago)

ESPN Sources: Portland is filing a protest with the league office to challenge result of 111-109 loss to Oklahoma City on Tuesday. With 109-108 lead, Portland contends Chauncey Billups was clearly calling timeout prior to official whistling a Blazers double-dribble with 15.6…

the buck doctor

lag∞n, Wednesday, 24 January 2024 14:54 (two years ago)

pretty funny that bud was the best big name coach available

lag∞n, Wednesday, 24 January 2024 14:55 (two years ago)

i’d love to go back to last april and tell bucks fans that the team’s response to one of the worst playoff collapses in nba history is to hire a coach whose career is largely defined by playoff collapses

slob wizard (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 24 January 2024 16:04 (two years ago)

why would you want to hurt me like that though

lag∞n, Wednesday, 24 January 2024 16:44 (two years ago)

You do not need great defensive personnel to get competent defense. Neither the Sacramento Kings nor the Denver Nuggets have better frontcourt defensive personnel than the Bucks do, and they have their own issues in their backcourts, and yet both of them have adjusted defensive ratings just inside the top ten. The Cavaliers spend most of their time with undersized guards in the backcourt, and no one would describe Max Strus or Dean Wade as stoppers, and yet they sit fourth in adjusted DRTG. The personnel isn’t making it easier, but the Bucks still have two DPOY-quality defenders in the frontcourt. The defense has no excuse to be this bad. Griffin has had more than enough time to fix this problem. It’s become clear that he cannot coach this defense to the level it needs to reach to be a true contender.

feel like im seeing this sentiment around, people unwilling to come to grips with just how bad the bucks perimeter defensive talent is, having said that do they have room for improvement, absolutely, can they improve as much as they need to, no, will doc rivers max out their improvement, also no

from the otherwise excellent article jordan posted https://www.brewhoop.com/2024/1/19/24042827/adrian-griffin-milwaukee-bucks-midseason

lag∞n, Wednesday, 24 January 2024 16:52 (two years ago)

part of the problem as pointed out by that article is that the bucks have gotten lucky with opponent shooting so while it looks like theyre trying to dig their way out of a 20th rated defense its prob actually something more like 28th, yikes, also theyve had the easiest sched so far

lag∞n, Wednesday, 24 January 2024 17:01 (two years ago)

also they have basically no trade assets, tho maybe they have enough to pick up some zero offense defensive specialist which is what they should prob do

lag∞n, Wednesday, 24 January 2024 17:02 (two years ago)

will be funny if they play slightly better under doc but get worse results because all that stuff normalizes

ciderpress, Wednesday, 24 January 2024 17:14 (two years ago)

yeah prob something like that

lag∞n, Wednesday, 24 January 2024 17:21 (two years ago)

seems likely in fact

i’m sure there was all kinds of shit behind the scenes that led up to having to part ways with griffin but let’s be real the guy they should be replacing is malik beasley. but point well taken about those other teams with defensive limitations finding a way

Lavator Shemmelpennick, Wednesday, 24 January 2024 17:22 (two years ago)

Doc Rivers teams have:

-Blown three 3-1 leads
-Blown five 3-2 leads
-Blown one 2-0 lead
-Lost Game 7 at home four times (five if you count the Bubble)
-Were eliminated 10 times at home in general (11 if you count the Bubble
-Gone 16-34 with a chance to close out a series

he did have that one championship with a super team tho

truly humbled underdog (k3vin k.), Wednesday, 24 January 2024 17:28 (two years ago)

*clears throat* chris paul’s career sure looks a lot different if he didn’t have monty and doc as his longest tenured coaches

truly humbled underdog (k3vin k.), Wednesday, 24 January 2024 17:29 (two years ago)

can’t forget vinny del negro too

truly humbled underdog (k3vin k.), Wednesday, 24 January 2024 17:29 (two years ago)

i know i've posted this several times this season but i still find it very hard to believe that the bucks are going to give him major playoff minutes after the lakers acquired him at the deadline last year for their playoff run and then barely let him get off the bench in the first round before basically DNP-CD'ing for the entirety of the next two rounds

slob wizard (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 24 January 2024 17:32 (two years ago)

(him being malik beasley)

slob wizard (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 24 January 2024 17:33 (two years ago)

the issue is they have to play someone, i wouldnt be surprised if their rotations changed a lot under doc, but the reason why theyre giving beasley the fourth most minutes on the team is they dont have any good options, so they can play patty c but hes bad too

lag∞n, Wednesday, 24 January 2024 17:40 (two years ago)

crowder coming back but he's not a SG

slob wizard (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 24 January 2024 17:41 (two years ago)

and hes bad

lag∞n, Wednesday, 24 January 2024 17:42 (two years ago)

feel like im seeing this sentiment around, people unwilling to come to grips with just how bad the bucks perimeter defensive talent is, having said that do they have room for improvement, absolutely, can they improve as much as they need to, no, will doc rivers max out their improvement, also no

the other thing too when comparing them to i.e. denver, sacramento, and cleveland is that those teams are very young whereas the bucks are very old. we *think* that for xyz reasons the bucks can get close enough to where they were on defense under bud, but the rim is being protected by a 35 year old, the point of attack defender is 33, the wing defender is 32

slob wizard (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 24 January 2024 17:44 (two years ago)

yuup

lag∞n, Wednesday, 24 January 2024 17:44 (two years ago)

i mean?

https://i.imgur.com/kl4dA2P.png

lag∞n, Wednesday, 24 January 2024 17:51 (two years ago)

then youre playing four on five on offense but something like that might be the best way forward

lag∞n, Wednesday, 24 January 2024 17:56 (two years ago)

I mean the Bucks do pretty well with Giannis & Dame just taking 70% of the shots so yeah maybe

frogbs, Wednesday, 24 January 2024 17:58 (two years ago)

imo they need to take 2-3 fliers over trying to just get one guy. if you look at their top 8 in MPG this year it's

dame
giannis
brook
beasley
middleton
crowder
portis
connaughton

last year beasley was banished from the playoff rotation, crowder was a total zero, and connaughton and portis were both non entities in the miami series. imo they have 4 guys and potentially nobody good enough in spots 5-8, which is a big problem

slob wizard (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 24 January 2024 18:02 (two years ago)

maybe they get a 5th guy and two of portis, connaughton, crowder, beasley can give them 10 decent mpg and that's the 7 man rotation they ride with but ummm... yeah....

slob wizard (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 24 January 2024 18:03 (two years ago)

yeah its a tough sitch they just dont have a lot of flexibility to make moves, maybe they can pickup a bought out guy but lux tax teams can only get buyout players who made midlevel or less now

lag∞n, Wednesday, 24 January 2024 18:05 (two years ago)

on either zach lowe pod or hop collective pod they were talking about what the bucks have to trade and the answer is basically nothing

slob wizard (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 24 January 2024 18:06 (two years ago)

They could trade Lillard :)
