jokic shooting last 7 games: .827/.833/.852 — has to be a record of some sort

last 10 games: .689/.563/.930

last 15 games, which is starting directly after going 18-58 from the field over a 2 game span, literally the worst 2-game shooting stretch at that volume in 50 years: .654/.500/.903

I just don’t know if his game translates to the playoffs

truly humbled underdog (k3vin k.), Friday, 12 January 2024 03:43 (two years ago)

Nikola Jokić is 85-of-105 from the field in his last nine games.

It’s the first time in NBA history a player has shot 80% or better in a 9-game span (min. 100 attempts).

Suns were down 22 with 8:10 left and beat the Kings.

Biggest fourth-quarter comeback in the NBA since the bubble.

Teams facing deficits of 22 or more in the fourth were 0-1,244 since Aug. 23, 2020.

If you only have one bullet point, end of list should be implied.

Luke Doncic: 73 points in Mavericks win in Atlanta – just the fourth player in NBA history to reach that plateau along with Wilt Chamberlain, Kobe Bryant and David Thompson.

Tenth player in NBA history to score 70 or more; four have come in the last year.

Women’s college basketball has grown in popularity over the past few decades, and the sport hit another milestone on Thursday night. ESPN broadcasted a College GameDay episode live from Baton Rouge ahead of No. 9 LSU vs. No. 1 South Carolina, and the game won the night among national sports.

South Carolina’s 76–70 win over LSU officially averaged 1.56 million viewers, topping the NBA’s matchup between the Boston Celtics and Miami Heat on TNT at the same time, which only averaged 1.38 million viewers, according to Sports Media Watch.

The rivalry between South Carolina and LSU has quickly become a staple in women’s college basketball, as it is a matchup between each of the last two national champions. The Gamecocks are 18–0 to begin this season, while the Tigers are 18–3, cementing both teams in the national championship conversation again.

damn

i’ve watched two lady vols games in person this season and they were both really fun. lotta threes, lotta drives on mismatches, lotta chaos under the basket.

Humanitarian Pause (Tracer Hand), Saturday, 27 January 2024 15:26 (two years ago)

also, it should be said, a lotta tough d. the sec is a very physical conference and one caveat to lsu and s carolina’s records is that i don’t believe they play conference rivals until after christmas - that’s when it starts getting real

Merged EPM data with salaries to see who has outperformed/underperformed their contracts so far.

Players on rookie deals were excluded.

ah interesting would think thatd lead to more points for both teams

lag∞n, Sunday, 28 January 2024 22:11 (two years ago)

If you zoom out and compare offensive indicators from the 2013-14 season to now, you'll see all of the familiar drivers for super-charged offenses: faster pace, smarter shot selection, and more points per shot. But these macro trends have started to level off more recently. pic.twitter.com/e2ysQiZKiF

the larger trends

truly humbled underdog (k3vin k.), Sunday, 28 January 2024 22:23 (two years ago)

https://imgur.com/a/Da2m1H7

there’s a pretty clear hierarchy this year that I circled, with a tiny bit of overlap:

group 1: boston
group 2: serious contenders
group 3: up and comers, or teams that thought they were going to be serious contenders who have serious questions
group 4: stuck in the mud
group 5: tanking
group 4: stuck in the middle
