lag∞n, Tuesday, 9 January 2024 02:31 (two years ago)

Was the claim that he hit ball first? Seems like a crazy call to overturn

infinite wiggles (Spottie), Tuesday, 9 January 2024 02:33 (two years ago)

he barely touched the ball and basically simultaneously hit his head, unbelievable

lag∞n, Tuesday, 9 January 2024 02:38 (two years ago)

KD, booker, beal, kawhi, PG, harden all in the line up tonight (on nba tv)

slob wizard (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 9 January 2024 04:00 (two years ago)

i don't think memphis' window ever opened...

slob wizard (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 9 January 2024 04:00 (two years ago)

i mean they won 56 games and locked up the 2 seed and everyone was young and locked in for years

infinite wiggles (Spottie), Tuesday, 9 January 2024 04:03 (two years ago)

i guess you could say the window was ready to open

infinite wiggles (Spottie), Tuesday, 9 January 2024 04:08 (two years ago)

they were in a nice spot

lag∞n, Tuesday, 9 January 2024 04:09 (two years ago)

they were never considered legitimate title contenders at any point. people thought they had one of the best young nucleuses in the league but that’s different

slob wizard (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 9 January 2024 05:49 (two years ago)

I guess you can split hairs on what a "legit title contender" is but roster-wise they've had absolutely had a team for past few years who could make a playoff run out of the WC if things fell right. They're also always hobbled by playoff time, so at that point they're never "legit title contenders" because they have no hope to win anything unless, at the very least, they have Ja able to fly around. I'm not sure they ever even had a chance to use their preferred starting 5 in a playoff game, ever? I guess they were one of those way-ahead-of-schedule teams that never really got a chance to run at full speed.

And now it's beginning to look like it's never going to happen. If Ja is out for the season, he'll be at a 50 game / year clip after first five seasons, essentially where Embiid was after his fifth season, so things could still turn around. Not looking good though ... congrats to Dillon Brooks for getting out at the right time!

ヽ(´ー`)┌ (CompuPost), Tuesday, 9 January 2024 13:42 (two years ago)

they were "probably a year away", like where okc is now, and then they never had all their guys again

ciderpress, Tuesday, 9 January 2024 13:48 (two years ago)

pretty unusual for a young team to win 55+ games and then fizzle out before the core players even start leaving but i guess the suns also managed it

ciderpress, Tuesday, 9 January 2024 13:51 (two years ago)

it was really the one season in 21-22 where they won 55 games and entered the playoffs healthy... they were also 8 games back of the 64 win, 1 seed defending conference champion phoenix suns that year. maybe i'm misremembering but i don't remember anyone positioning the grizzlies as genuine threats to come out of the west let alone win the title

slob wizard (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 9 January 2024 16:26 (two years ago)

they've had absolutely had a team for past few years who could make a playoff run out of the WC if things fell right

there are two types of "contention," one of which is largely accidental ("if things fell right") and not actually real. recent teams in this category would include the hawks team that made the ECF, the mavs team that made the WCF etc. these are teams that were ostensibly in "contention" but they weren't really. then there are the teams that people think are truly good enough to win the title ... we're prob talking about 2-3 teams per season max ... and i don't think memphis has ever been considered that

slob wizard (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 9 January 2024 16:29 (two years ago)

it's so inspiring that Adam Silver talked Draymond out of retiring from the stress that comes from kicking people in the balls and choking them

Blues Guitar Solo Heatmap (Free Download) (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Tuesday, 9 January 2024 16:52 (two years ago)

draymond was going to walk away from the game he loves until he was visited by the slender chief executive

lag∞n, Tuesday, 9 January 2024 17:08 (two years ago)

good news

Indiana Pacers point guard Tyrese Haliburton will be re-evaluated in approximately two weeks following the team’s West Coast trip after an MRI revealed a Grade 1 left hamstring strain sustained during Monday’s game against the Boston Celtics, league sources confirmed. ESPN was the first to report the news.

lag∞n, Tuesday, 9 January 2024 18:36 (two years ago)

polyamerie "it's more than this 1 thing" (m bison), Tuesday, 9 January 2024 23:46 (two years ago)

i thought they didnt get along with him

lag∞n, Tuesday, 9 January 2024 23:52 (two years ago)

i think its fine, like anytime he's in town he and pop have a lot of warmth for each other. the trade was a "just business" kinda move and now that he's got a long term deal and the spurs have the hawks picks from 25-27 plus wemby (and a gaping void at pg), i think dj might be excited to come back. who would you rather be #2 to: a 20-year-old stretched-out french existentialist kareem, or a 6' guy who plays your position (on a team that is going nowhere fast)?

polyamerie "it's more than this 1 thing" (m bison), Wednesday, 10 January 2024 00:01 (two years ago)

i mean i know what i would like, to be on the boston celtics baby! haha jk

lag∞n, Wednesday, 10 January 2024 00:04 (two years ago)

they should send atlanta less then they got for him initially then get him playing really well and trade him again
