i liked hood schifino coming out he reminded me of josh hart, i know hollinger was one who didn't even have a first round grade on him. given where the lakers are and the guys picked after him that pick def warrants a lot of scrutiny. i'm not a huge brandon podz fan but he would be playing huge minutes for the lakers

whats not to like about podz?

i think he, um... fits an archetype of player who people get really excited about when they prove that they belong on an NBA floor... but then sometimes such players find a level that is below what people begin to imagine in their heads. he can do some stuff for sure tho and he's still quite young. i read hollinger say that he has the second highest rebound rate in the league among players under 6-6 after westbrook. he is def a rotation player they made a good pick for that spot but i still think he may settle in closer to 4th guard status

the problem isn't really hood schifino not being able to play, the problem is that they're in a situation where they're hoping he can play

xp i think he leads the league in charges taken and yea hes a great rebounder. kinda just does everything. rotation player is right, 4th guard is like a 15th man on the roster and he's clearly already better than that. im just excited they got a couple rookies that are playable now.

getting drafted to a lebron team has to suck

i don't agree w/ that i think the way the league works now contending teams w/ multiple maxed out veteran players will almost always have rotation spots open for late round rookies if they can play... christian braun etc so it's definitely an issue that he can't play, if he can't play

having guys w/ identifiable skills who can come off the bench is definitely useful & i do buy the argument that his game plays up w/ the warriors bcuz they play a very team oriented style of basketball. i'm only hating slightly

I have such an emotional attachment to Ricky, he was a real ray of light just his personality, the way he played. the Wolves have had so many bad times and although he never really turned out to be the superstar everyone hoped, at his best he was one of the best passers ever, and just such an amazing guy to root for. I hope he's ok.

he seems like a good dude. solid career that wouldve looked a lot different had he avoided all his injuries.

the are certainly spots for late-round rookies but if they’re not ready for primetime 4 months into the season it shouldn’t be a referendum on the pick. the problem is that the guys ahead of him haven’t been any good.

yeah the least of the lakers problems is their rookies status.

and if you want to say the lakers came into the season needing to hit on a pick like that (like the nuggets did) then ok, but i thought the lakers had all this depth they were happy with.

i think this would be easier to stomach if the immediate picks after weren't currently two of the 5 best rookies in the league. and both played college in california to boot. he may develop into a good player but in all likelihood this season means more to the lakers than multiple post-lebron seasons combined so i don't think their priorities are the same as other drafting teams

it’s easy to dump on simmons for obvious reasons but in these discussions ppl omit that he has serious back issues that appear to be threatening his career. he had to get an epidural a few weeks ago

I really thought this was the year he was going to put it all together.

definitely one of the weirdest players period but also ppl just don’t wanna mention that he was 26 having herniated disk surgery and stuff like everything else aside he’s had a really bad roll of the dice physically the last few years & i kinda feel bad for him cuz that level of routine back injury at his age sounds like it’s setting up for a painful life

at least the sixers made sure they never again suffered a legendarily shameful game 7 loss in the second round of the playoffs
