eventually people will turn on halliburton if the pacers never play defense bcuz they’ll never win anything just like the blazers or hawks have largely left people wanting. we’re in the honeymoon period now where it’s fun and being about .500 doesn’t really matter

I really hope they back off from going full-tilt on developing Nembhard his year; TJM has already swung multiple games, and Nembhard is still very hot or cold / can have some really poor games. TJM hasn’t even played enough to rack up any inbound steals iirc this season.

the issue isn’t that they traded halliburton, that needed to happen. i don’t buy that we’d be seeing this version of either him or fox if they had stayed together. it’s more that they traded him for a pretty traditional 5 type player but before we call it a generational heist i would like to see evidence of the pacers exceeding the success of the kings, which has yet to happen

This team is clearly at the very bottom of their ride, I don’t think their team defense (and rebounding) will stay this bad, esp. with a few solid individual defenders playing heavy minutes.

kornet is a nice roster player but the celtics need to find a real third big as KP/horford insurance come playoff time

a team taht hasnt made the playoffs for two decades trading for a type of player that is very good at winning regular season games is understandable imo

hali and fox werent an ideal combo and were thus prob holding each other back but if theyd held on to hali a year longer they prob couldve gotten more

tho it is hard to get a player as good as sabonis in a trade, but the problem is hes also bad

the all tournament team is kinda excessive though, just mvp is enough

when they first proposed it i think i didnt get that the first round would just be designated reg season games i was imagining them putting the whole season on hiatus for like 3 weeks instead of integrating it but i guess its in the name i should have known

Underrated and maybe self-evident part of IST is that you’re putting all the teams playing the best at the moment, so you’re hopefully getting good games.

also the bracket phase being only 7 games total over 4 nights makes it easy to watch every game which isnt something i can say about the nba playoffs

So if the Knicks lose tomorrow, they’ll get extra games this season at Milwaukee and at Boston. 10 games total against those teams this season. Meanwhile Nets won as many games in group play, lost point differential, and get the Hawks and Wizards this week. Doesn’t seem fair.

That’s definitely the one caveat of the IST that needs to be looked at…

Missing the “playoffs” likely gets you 2 significantly easier games.

1st round losers you could have them play a random non-bracket team not the other bracket loser yeah

if you win the 1st round well then you have 2 harder games in exchange for contending in the tournament
