he was launching threes really confidently in the playoffs last year which seems to have carried over so far this year if he can be a consistent threat from deep thats huge

I think I would rather the Sixers keep Harris and trade for Anunoby instead of Siakam.

suspect the raptors are less inclined to move og as hes younger and therefor more on barnes timeline, and he prob has more value around the league so the sixers likely dont have what it takes to get him even if the raptors would move him, they might not have what it takes to get siakim but the fact that hes older and is due a huge deal makes it maybe possible, also the fact that hes been telling everyone hes doesnt want to leave toronto (obvs because he can get the super max if he stays tho hes not saying that) could depress his value enough that the get him for the harden pupu platter of one bad pick one good pick and a dece swap + harris expiring

I'm not salty at all. I was fortunate enough to see Iverson play while he was on the Sixers, he was one of the most talented, driven players I have ever seen. My only point was that his off-court life seemed to be at complete odds with long-term success, especially once his playing career was over.

i love the idea of siakam as a third option but i feel like they'd have to have a really miserable season to trade either of those guys, which doesn't look like it's on the horizon atm but you never know. masai not trading lowry or FVV before their FAs remains weird but i haven't read/heard anything along the lines of "he feels like he screwed those up and might change his strategy"

yeah i have no idea if the raps are going to make a trade but it is at least a reasonable spot to do one, especially with siakim due to him being older than their "core" and being up for a too big new deal

Yeah there's no doubt that he left a lot of production on the table

he was a very small guy who took a big beating falling off in his early 30s is pretty standard especially for back then

kemba walkers out of the league rn for instance

which is not to say he prob wouldnt have been better off eating his spinach and so forth, but if you didnt know anything about his off court habits all things considered youd prob say he maxed out his talents

physiologically and prob psychologically iverson was an alien, remember some story of when he was in college the sports science department hooked him up to all the machines and had him run on the treadmill and he just never got tired lol

players like anunoby, your not quite stars but still really valuable guys who under the old cbs teams had no qualms with maxing out, might become kinda dicey to give big contracts to now

im not actually that keen on siakam to the pacers, it has been talked of for as long as the pacers have had a hole at pf but signing an aging siakam to a big extension isnt the best move for a team with a young core. i know hes not strictly that old but i think he will fall off quicker than most

anunoby is injured a fair bit, has no midrange game, good but not great from 3. excellent defender obv. i think a max would be better spent elsewhere

yeah siakam being older than the pacers core would be the big issue, but hes 29 and has great size will be good through his next contract

yeah hes a shaky shooter and his athleticism is speed not strength. losing half a step could be fatal for him at both ends of the court

idk big all nba wings with spider arms usually age pretty well

hes also by all accounts a very hard worker locked in mindsetted etc

he's not a great catch and shoot player by any stretch -- the elite 3pt shooters are in the 40-43%+ range -- but there is one outlier year where he got close to that level and it was his one year playing w/ kawhi. i think if he was genuinely relegated to a mostly catch/shoot/drive/kick etc type role alongside two better players he would excel so long as his body held up

what you want is a guy like OG on a friendly deal like aaron gordon

for a while it looked like og was on a trajectory to star status but he seems to have plateaued

part of me feels like the raptors have spent the years after kawhi fielding abnormal basketball teams that weren’t very good, and maybe wings like pascal and OG who were supposed to lead a revolutionary positionless roster might be better if they ever got to play with, like, a real point guard and center on the floor at the same time
