celitcs mostly winning on talent so far but there are shapes of team play emerging, point jrue looks good, initiating the offense, as an outlet for double teams etc, not gonna happen but him and white should bring it up the court every time afaic, or at the very least keep it out of jaylens hands, jaylen consistently fucking up the most basic things initiating the offense is something you cant unsee once youre aware of it, jayson isnt exactly bad but he is pretty slow to get things moving, jrue and derrick are just much quicker on that

zinger was a menace guarding the 3pt line in crunch time last night, pretty foolish of the nets to challenge him like that when the obvious move was to drive, but they were behind and wanted those threes whatre you gonna do

would like to see more ball movement theyre way down in assist percentage, which is understandable theyre getting good shots anyway, have a bunch of guys who can create on their own, but theyd get even better shots with a lil more passing

one nice set they have done a bit is tatum bringing it up and jrue acting as the screener, great way to get jrue playmaking or driving with an advantage.

and obviously winning with talent at this point is encouraging, they're banking wins just by overwhelming teams with their starting 5 while they figure out how to play together, which cannot be said about other recently transformed teams like the bucks or suns

yeah celtics roster is imo clearly more sound than those teams, partially because they have more quality guys and also cause the fit is good

theres that wing pick and pop theyd to with tatum and horford and now theyre putting zinger in it which makes it a uh lot more dangerous, zingers shot is so quick has deep range and hes 7-3, pretty crazy

only other 7 footer i can think of that gets his shot off as fast is kd, like dirk had a two motion shot that more relied on having a high release point

the 30ftr he hits at 2:00 his form looks pretty normal

yeah they are excelling in a very unorthodox way, they’re last in assist percentage on offense and second to last in turnovers forced on defense, also 17th in free throw rate offensively. so to say their talent has been overwhelming seems accurate, they’re shooting lights out and rebounding well on both sides too

yeah theyre getting good looks i think they just put defenses in such a tough spot with their talent that they havent had to do too much, and theyve been scoring so well that on defense theyve been able to mostly just play solid without really ramping up the effort, but one would think they will need to do more on both sides eventually

their numbers are off the charts but three of their five games have been close in the fourth and then there were two huge blowouts

so i dont think theyve been quite as good as theyve seemed but the potential is def there, and it makes sense that it would take a min to get everything coordinated since they made such big changes

a lot of hoo-hah about “now joe has his guys” and “now joe has had a whole off-season to prepare” and i know holiday came in late to that process but he plays the same type of role as marcus, so it’s not like some big monkeywrench. yet the player jrue seems to connect with offensively the most is.. kornet? idk. definitely a work in progress.
