my predict two protected firsts and some crappy matching salaries gets it done

lag∞n, Wednesday, 14 June 2023 19:02 (one year ago) link

its going to take a better player in the same role plus draft picks. got it

ciderpress, Wednesday, 14 June 2023 19:08 (one year ago) link

somehow i dont think hes gonna get traded

ciderpress, Wednesday, 14 June 2023 19:08 (one year ago) link

think its fine for the same handful of teams to make it to the conference finals repeatedly for a few years but the finals being the same matchup 4 years in a row is probably bad. luckily we dont have that anymor enow

was irritating that it was the Warriors who built a superteam on a one-time technicality, as opposed to the Cavs where it was just sheer willpower by the greatest player on the planet. but I can forgive it because Curry is so much fun to watch

frogbs, Wednesday, 14 June 2023 19:09 (one year ago) link

that second tweet has to be either trolling or an absurd wiz homer (do wiz homers exist?)

ya might be a joke now that i reflect upon it

something like this feels right. if it's miami they'll get herro out of it

bcuz of beal's no trade the wiz are going to get completely screwed, putting aside the value in simply dumping his salary. they can't create a market for him -- beal gets to dictate what the market is

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 14 June 2023 19:12 (one year ago) link

but in light of the parallel convo about cba, cap, etc, really not sure anyone wants to bite the bullet and pay bradley beal $53m in 25-26 and $57m in 26-27...

Lavator Shemmelpennick, Wednesday, 14 June 2023 19:17 (one year ago) link

hes missed a lot of games recently too

lag∞n, Wednesday, 14 June 2023 19:21 (one year ago) link

if you felt like you could legitimately win a title in the next two years w/ him you could justify all the money on the back end but all the teams that might be true about already have at minimum 2 extremely expensive players on their teams

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 14 June 2023 19:22 (one year ago) link

cld see the heat doing it hes exactly what they need

herro and robinson works salary matching wise

man they really gave him a no trade clause, what an organization

ludicrously capacious bag (voodoo chili), Wednesday, 14 June 2023 19:28 (one year ago) link

they couldve set themselves up by trading him a few years ago but here we are

lag∞n, Wednesday, 14 June 2023 19:29 (one year ago) link

the league is still haunted by the heatles but the thing is no team w/ 3 max players has ever actually ran the league

I mean I'd argue the Heatles did but yeah that was kind of a special case, LeBron is a generational talent, the front office made a lot of smart moves, also they had a really good coach which turns out to be pretty important for these teams

bigger problem for the league I think is that these teams are just unlikeable. I mean yea it's neat in the NBA that stars can join forces and make these superteams that play in unique ways but what's the point when everyone just cheers for them to lose

― lag∞n, Wednesday, June 14, 2023 3:24 PM (five minutes ago)

same and have to imagine they're on the list of beal's approved spots. the issue is butler has a 3/146 extension kicking in this season & you're getting close to bam extension time w/ the possibility of an all NBA hanging out there for him. the heat are renowned for their cap maneuvering, they've houdini'd out of worse situations than what this would prob be. but they don't have a hugely wealthy owner & very rarely pay the tax

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 14 June 2023 19:34 (one year ago) link

the only team i can think of that is feasibly w/in contention and where beal would actually be an upgrade over their projected second best player is philly. which is prob why bill simmons said on his podcast the other day that philly is the team he'd be watching on beal.

heat, celtics, lakers are not getting better if they swapped their second best players for beal. and adding beal to their top 2 players seems untenable financially

two others that definitely won't happen but would possibly be upgrades would be scenarios where the kings or hawks acquired beal at the expense of re-signing sabonis/dejounte

maybe there's a scenario where the bulls move on from lavine and get beal but who wants lavine it can't be washington

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 14 June 2023 19:35 (one year ago) link

i guess the lakers could carry beal's salary bcuz lebron isn't going to be there much longer. but i believe they have quite literally nothing to trade?

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 14 June 2023 19:37 (one year ago) link

herro and robinson make almost exactly the same money as brad for the same length (robison has one year less) so its kinda same diff from a tax perspective

― lag∞n, Wednesday, June 14, 2023 3:38 PM (four minutes ago)

the problem is that they prob wanna cut salary and not be deep into in the tax at all as opposed to finding a way to pay the same tax bill w/ a different combo of players

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 14 June 2023 19:47 (one year ago) link

whatre you gonna do you know sometimes you gotta go out and get a brad beal

lag∞n, Wednesday, 14 June 2023 20:01 (one year ago) link

The Kuminga rumors make me wonder about the Warriors' draft acumen (unless he was another Lacob pick, sigh). Looney is basically the only guy to really stick, though hopefully Poole gets it together next season.

KAT could probably fit all those people into a compact sedan.

more difficult than I look (Aimless), Wednesday, 14 June 2023 21:55 (one year ago) link

kat's legacy likely to be that he's the most unremarkable and least interesting of the crop of contemporary hoops unicorns. that and maybe the most cringe public persona of his day

Lavator Shemmelpennick, Wednesday, 14 June 2023 21:57 (one year ago) link

to be fair, he didn't say which game he was gonna change

something mustve happened with kuminga, the org has to be over him completely to give up on him like this. he was a big part of the back half of the season and then made one mistake in an early playoff game and was yanked indefinitely. maybe he said some magic words. dude is crazy talented.

Spottie, Wednesday, 14 June 2023 22:26 (one year ago) link

yeah kerr said something that inferred he wasnt happy with him

lag∞n, Wednesday, 14 June 2023 22:28 (one year ago) link

warriors whole org and vets probably has little patience for a malcontent rook but its probably something they should work on

micah, Wednesday, 14 June 2023 22:48 (one year ago) link

it makes a ton of sense for them to reset the clock on a rookie scale contract and get rid of him before an extension is even a discussion, but the rest of the league is well aware of this

call all destroyer, Thursday, 15 June 2023 00:41 (one year ago) link

yeah its hard to get anything for a guy youre giving up on

lag∞n, Thursday, 15 June 2023 00:57 (one year ago) link

i think kuminga is a player. the warriors are as specific a situation as any in the league i’d like to see him get to a place where he can just play a bit more freely.

J0rdan S., Thursday, 15 June 2023 01:32 (one year ago) link

i would have thought his bird rights etc would be valuable to the warriors with the new cap and all

micah, Thursday, 15 June 2023 03:30 (one year ago) link

i guess new cba makes it tough to spend above the second apron even if it's on guys you have bird rights for

slai gorgeous-alexander (m bison), Thursday, 15 June 2023 04:02 (one year ago) link

If they give up on him then that’s two highly valuable assets they completely flubbed away and should’ve traded to bring in depth. At this point they’re better off just continuing to develop him he does a lot of things they need and at a good price. Tough spot

Spottie, Thursday, 15 June 2023 05:43 (one year ago) link

well it seems like they’re seeking a highly valuable asset in return which makes no sense but based on that report it’s not like they’re just raffling him off

J0rdan S., Thursday, 15 June 2023 05:53 (one year ago) link

Kat is a strange strange person

Karl Anthony Towns just said the Minnesota Timberwolves making the playoffs last year was more impressive than the Denver Nuggets winning an NBA Championship this year 😭 pic.twitter.com/JkpZJB5ry6

they should trade him

lag∞n, Thursday, 15 June 2023 17:35 (one year ago) link

gobert has no trade value, ant is untouchable, kat is redundant and still has some value, honestly if i were minny i'd be asking about the simons+#3 package from portland for kat as the foundation.

slai gorgeous-alexander (m bison), Thursday, 15 June 2023 17:45 (one year ago) link
