they should all retreat into the darkness, forever

Could that be the same Luka pic from last offseason?

Cashews Everything Around Me (Leee), Saturday, 20 May 2023 02:27 (three years ago)

Yes it’s a pic from last season I was more focused on the headline. He came into this last season in good shape but seemed to get more out of shape as the season went on

lag∞n, Saturday, 20 May 2023 21:08 (three years ago)

Harden going back to Texas to sabotage Luka's diet.

Cashews Everything Around Me (Leee), Saturday, 20 May 2023 22:03 (three years ago)

big times in texas, spurs getting wemby, mavs getting ripped luka, rockets getting 34 year old permanent loser james harden

Clay, Saturday, 20 May 2023 22:21 (three years ago)

ciderpress, Sunday, 21 May 2023 00:38 (three years ago)

look the only ppl who arent fat in tx are the ones who hate themselves or have crazy high metabolism

slai gorgeous-alexander (m bison), Sunday, 21 May 2023 01:09 (three years ago)

on topic: spurs are apparently still looking at/interviewing amen thompson and cason wallace. good chance they try and package some of their picks to get a second 1st rounder to pair with wembanyama.

slai gorgeous-alexander (m bison), Sunday, 21 May 2023 01:11 (three years ago)

They're apparently gonna bring Timmy Duncan back in to mentor Wemby, too

Chyiv Kyiv (Fetchboy), Sunday, 21 May 2023 01:57 (three years ago)

lakers: welcome to the nba offseason

ciderpress, Tuesday, 23 May 2023 03:16 (three years ago)

lebron should retire

https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10076982-sources-lebron-james-considering-retirement-after-wcf-exit-20-nba-seasons

Clay, Tuesday, 23 May 2023 06:57 (three years ago)

doesn't seem crazy for him to take a year off then unretire so he can play with bronny if he's still got his heart set on that

Lavator Shemmelpennick, Tuesday, 23 May 2023 14:38 (three years ago)

i dont think that would work tbh, he'd be out of shape and another year older.

i cant imagine lebron retiring while hes still as good as he is. he's obv not able to do what he used to do as a takeover artist, and the way that the lakers are built around him and ad doesnt compensate for that. getting to the 3rd rd after the season they had is kind of a miracle.

slai gorgeous-alexander (m bison), Tuesday, 23 May 2023 14:45 (three years ago)

they will probably figure something out because they’re the lakers and the league will find a way to get him a competitive team. but james and davis making over 97 million dollars next year at what their projected production levels should be…might be a tough spot

k3vin k., Tuesday, 23 May 2023 14:53 (three years ago)

i bet he'll play 2 more years

ciderpress, Tuesday, 23 May 2023 14:57 (three years ago)

i can’t imagine him going out without a farewell tour season

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 23 May 2023 15:00 (three years ago)

Alex English ain't dead, man.

immodesty blaise (jimbeaux), Tuesday, 23 May 2023 15:01 (three years ago)

this is a leverage play from lebron no? also a way to get the media churning about his retirement vs his team getting swept out of the playoffs.

Spottie, Tuesday, 23 May 2023 15:31 (three years ago)

or just general attention seeking

lag∞n, Tuesday, 23 May 2023 15:37 (three years ago)

he "joked" like five times in the post game presser about people accusing him of lying

lag∞n, Tuesday, 23 May 2023 15:37 (three years ago)

it was a masterful presser for sure

Spottie, Tuesday, 23 May 2023 15:39 (three years ago)

to be more charitable, I'd imagine most old players go through a range of emotions in the off season, like right after it's over being I can't do this shit again then over the course of the off-season relaxing a bit and coming around to wanting to do it. but I'm sure after 35 retirement thoughts are always there.

Blues Guitar Solo Heatmap (Free Download) (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Tuesday, 23 May 2023 15:45 (three years ago)

yeah I mean you have to be such a freak to want to do this to yourself for a 21st year, he’s incredible

k3vin k., Tuesday, 23 May 2023 18:11 (three years ago)

We'll see how he feels after foot surgery. He was clearly hobbled throughout the postseason and his durability issues/risk aren't likely to improve in the coming years.

octobeard, Tuesday, 23 May 2023 18:33 (three years ago)

I think the NBA playoffs just crush your spirit in a way that doesn't really exist in other sports. Baseball has tons of variance baked into every game and football is single-elimination, where a bad bounce can end your whole season. The NBA has some series that are like that where they can really go either way (Nets/Bucks is a pretty clear example) but more often than that you just get beat. Lakers beat the Grizz and the Dubs pretty thoroughly - no doubt they were the better team in those series. Then Denver kicked their ass. Not only that but they did so with LeBron leaving everything out on the floor, just physically unable to attack the rim or draw contact or even drive at all once they got into crunch time. He's 38 and still somehow one of the most high-usage players in the NBA, he's doing things unheard of in NBA history, but he's just spent. You aren't gonna win 4 playoff series with him as your go-to guy. I think he knows it too. But I think ums is right, that feeling fades and once the numbness wears off I think he is gonna want to play another year or two. We see this constantly in professional sports, especially the NFL. They don't retire until the game does it for them.

frogbs, Tuesday, 23 May 2023 18:50 (three years ago)

Also I think the last decade has had some pretty stunning acheivements from "washed up" athletes, you got Peyton winning a Super Bowl at 39, Brady at 44 (!!), Tiger winning the Masters somehow again after 400 leg surgeries and several years of not even making the cut, even LeBron himself during the bubble - he was "only" 35 but still had logged more NBA minutes than all but a handful of players. I think all that stuff weighs pretty hard on the minds of those late-30s former MVPs. LeBron can totally win another ring just probably not with the Lakers.

frogbs, Tuesday, 23 May 2023 18:53 (three years ago)

hes maneuvering his way to the dubs

Spottie, Tuesday, 23 May 2023 18:57 (three years ago)

if winning a ring was his top priority he wouldn’t have resigned w the lakers in the first place. it’s been very clear for years that he’s put having his family in LA above his own personal professional goals. i think the plan has always been the same & isn’t going to change — finish out his contract in LA & then figure out his next move once bronny’s future is more clear. anyone who thinks bron is moving to another city after bronny chose to play at USC is crazy

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 23 May 2023 19:15 (three years ago)

btw bronny is a top prospect now after being borderline before

lag∞n, Tuesday, 23 May 2023 19:19 (three years ago)

for sure it's hard to know what LeBron's goals even are right now, outside of winning another one to get closer to Jordan there's nothing left for him to do

frogbs, Tuesday, 23 May 2023 19:23 (three years ago)

and I hate that his son's name is "Bronny". it sounds a lot like "Brony". I wish he was just named "LeBron 2"

frogbs, Tuesday, 23 May 2023 19:24 (three years ago)

"Your kid's name sucks, man."

immodesty blaise (jimbeaux), Tuesday, 23 May 2023 19:24 (three years ago)

for sure it's hard to know what LeBron's goals even are right now, outside of winning another one to get closer to Jordan there's nothing left for him to do

i actually don’t think it’s that hard to figure out. his actions have been pretty clear since getting to LA.

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 23 May 2023 19:26 (three years ago)

i would be shocked if he actually retires but would like to think his comments after the game were sincere, and a recognition that he went as hard as he could in this series and in the closeout game, and it didn't get them particularly close to the promised land.

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 23 May 2023 19:40 (three years ago)

yeah his goals are to chill and play for the lakers. if he really backseat-GMed them into last year's awful team then he's hurt his career a bit that way but he hasn't hurt it on the court
