i honestly love mazzula for not using those timeouts

seems like it’s the sort of thing you might want to try every once in a while not necessarily do every time

i like the no timeout in the tie not as much in the down 1 situation

a bit like his threes are more than twos so let’s make every shot a three strategy

you have to use the timeout there you need to go fast youre behind

it’s always a good sign at the end of the game when the coach goes the no timeout route and the team does nothing for 10 seconds and then panic dribbles into a pass that doesn’t get to the intended target before the buzzer

the thing about mazzulla not calling a timeout is that it wasn’t even a scramble situation. it was off a made basket, philly’s defense was already set. i have no idea what advantage you’re even discerning in that moment

they also had TWO timeouts aka even in the worst case scenario where you miss and foul and philly makes both FTs, you could still advance the ball *again*

i'm sure he's a good coach or will be a good coach but that was a pretty abominable performance even before the timeout stuff. he let harden repeatedly work, at best, boston's fourth best perimeter defender the entire game. his thing kinda seems like, i just let my guys run around and shoot threes and stuff and let's see where the chips fall. idk i might try a different mindset in the playoffs. celtics are 6-6 playing the hawks and a team they killed in the regular season whose best player has a fucked up knee
