about those play-in games

― Clay, Monday, April 24, 2023 10:05 PM (twenty-four seconds ago) bookmarkflaglink

was just thinking about that

lag∞n, Tuesday, 25 April 2023 02:06 (three years ago)

i've decided the play-in is good now

ciderpress, Tuesday, 25 April 2023 02:06 (three years ago)

just gobsmacked here, the Heat were the #25 offense going against the #4 defense and they set offensive records in all 3 wins

frogbs, Tuesday, 25 April 2023 02:09 (three years ago)

crazy shit

lag∞n, Tuesday, 25 April 2023 02:10 (three years ago)

I am going to say it for the rest of my life: how did the Sixers let Butler get away.

This machine bores fascism (PBKR), Tuesday, 25 April 2023 02:10 (three years ago)

jimmy is a chaos agent

Jimmy Butler put on the best performance this Playoff season scoring 56 points against the Milwaukee Bucks and ushering the Heat to a 3-1 Series lead!

ushering!

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 25 April 2023 02:29 (three years ago)

can't wait to be on the edge of my seat for 3 straight games so I can inevitably watch Duncan Robinson go 8-for-9 from 3 in the deciding game

frogbs, Tuesday, 25 April 2023 02:30 (three years ago)

whatever. hands off to Butler, can't imagine how cool that must've been to watch for non-Bucks fans

frogbs, Tuesday, 25 April 2023 02:35 (three years ago)

wait. I mean hats off

frogbs, Tuesday, 25 April 2023 02:35 (three years ago)

rats off to ya

ciderpress, Tuesday, 25 April 2023 02:36 (three years ago)

butler has cooked jrue all series. he scored on giannis & brook multiple times tonight. killed middleton to the point of fouling him out.

i am surprised they didn’t throw doubles at him tbh. maybe they were reluctant to in miami bcuz the role players are gonna shoot better but if i’m bud in game 5 i’m treating butler like he’s embiid

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 25 April 2023 02:43 (three years ago)

so many players on the Heat are shooting way above their averages, I can see why he's not I guess

frogbs, Tuesday, 25 April 2023 02:45 (three years ago)

once again pausing to reflect on the fact that the heat acquired jimmy butler for josh richardson and a first round pick

god is great

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 25 April 2023 02:47 (three years ago)

youd think both jrue and middleton would be good if not perfect defenders for jimmy but i guess it just doesnt matter right now

lag∞n, Tuesday, 25 April 2023 02:47 (three years ago)

espn nba rank had trae young and karl anthony towns ranked ahead of butler at the beginning of the season

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 25 April 2023 02:52 (three years ago)

xp their reluctance to put giannis on him was puzzling… length is what bothers butler. i’ll never fault a coach for putting jrue on the other team’s best player but butler can take jrue into the post and pump fake and shoot over him. middleton i think is just not good enough

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 25 April 2023 02:54 (three years ago)

they like to let giannis roam doesnt seem like they ever use him as a perimeter stopper which idk why not

lag∞n, Tuesday, 25 April 2023 02:56 (three years ago)

Just finished and just wow man incredible stuff if you don’t like that you don’t like nba basketball

Spottie, Tuesday, 25 April 2023 03:08 (three years ago)

i didn't like that

frogbs, Tuesday, 25 April 2023 03:14 (three years ago)

lol

lag∞n, Tuesday, 25 April 2023 03:16 (three years ago)

feel like they’ve made an organizational decision to save giannis for offense and then they don’t play great offense so idk how well it’s working

82 game players vs 16 game players

k3vin k., Tuesday, 25 April 2023 03:37 (three years ago)

one of the knocks on budenholzer is he just doesn’t make adjustments like that, he sticks to the game plan. idk

k3vin k., Tuesday, 25 April 2023 03:38 (three years ago)

advanced stats have always liked butler even in the reg season...hes consistently in like the top 15 in the bkref metrics

ciderpress, Tuesday, 25 April 2023 03:53 (three years ago)

also he's a strong hater

mookieproof, Tuesday, 25 April 2023 03:56 (three years ago)

ya I kind wondered how it's possible Butler just gets so much better in the playoffs but his regular season numbers are pretty good too

frogbs, Tuesday, 25 April 2023 03:57 (three years ago)

i was gonna say ppl just underrate butler in the regular season. last year he was the undisputed best player on the no 1 seed in the east w/ a roster that is half undrafted players and not only did he never get mentioned in MVP discussions he didn’t even make all NBA. and then he was easily one of the 5 best players in the playoffs last year. and then didn’t make the all star team.

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 25 April 2023 04:10 (three years ago)

some insane stuff from ja at the end of the third quarter there

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 25 April 2023 04:10 (three years ago)

butler misses a lot of time, which is probably part of it. if you’re talking about someone to carry your team for a regular season and get a good seed, I can totally see the argument for having 15-20 guys ahead of him. but the playoffs are a different story

k3vin k., Tuesday, 25 April 2023 04:34 (three years ago)

15-20 guys ahead of him even for the regular season is insane then again a bunch of professional basketball writers just ranked karl towns and trae young over him so this might just be one ppl can’t grasp for whatever reason

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 25 April 2023 04:40 (three years ago)

the grizz!

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 25 April 2023 04:42 (three years ago)

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 25 April 2023 04:46 (three years ago)

it must be said… lebron james

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 25 April 2023 04:58 (three years ago)

pretty rough loss for the grizzlies

they were resilient tonight so i’m not counting them out of this series but they’re in a tough spot now

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 25 April 2023 05:11 (three years ago)

The Bucks, Cavs and Grizzlies aren't in *quite* as bad a situation as the overall 95% series win probability for teams up 3-1. Most teams up 3-1 have home court. They've won 98% of the time since 1984* (119-2). When the team without home court is up 3-1, that drops to 89% (44-5).

Only MJ and LeBron have averaged 35/5/5 on 50+ FG% in a playoffs… Jimmy is doing it on 62.8 FG%. pic.twitter.com/LY6JAkCdEb

ciderpress, Tuesday, 25 April 2023 13:33 (three years ago)
