one of the knocks on budenholzer is he just doesn’t make adjustments like that, he sticks to the game plan. idk

advanced stats have always liked butler even in the reg season...hes consistently in like the top 15 in the bkref metrics

also he's a strong hater

ya I kind wondered how it's possible Butler just gets so much better in the playoffs but his regular season numbers are pretty good too

i was gonna say ppl just underrate butler in the regular season. last year he was the undisputed best player on the no 1 seed in the east w/ a roster that is half undrafted players and not only did he never get mentioned in MVP discussions he didn’t even make all NBA. and then he was easily one of the 5 best players in the playoffs last year. and then didn’t make the all star team.

butler misses a lot of time, which is probably part of it. if you’re talking about someone to carry your team for a regular season and get a good seed, I can totally see the argument for having 15-20 guys ahead of him. but the playoffs are a different story

15-20 guys ahead of him even for the regular season is insane then again a bunch of professional basketball writers just ranked karl towns and trae young over him so this might just be one ppl can’t grasp for whatever reason
