There were rumors that went around stating Duncan was on the verge of leaving San Antonio to join the Orlando Magic. At the time, Orlando had Grant Hill and also just netted Tracy McGrady and adding Duncan would have been the cherry on top for the Magic.

However, all of that fell through in large part to Rivers telling Duncan family (including his then girlfriend) wasn't allowed to travel with the team and the rest as they say is history.
