just looking thru the standings... the wizards maybe? the lakers? the magic?

the number of teams who have assets to trade & have a hole at point guard & also don't already have a star on the team is minuscule

i think atlanta and trae are stuck w/ each other

even a lot of the bad and/or small market teams who would normally have to be intrigued by the opportunity to get a star on a longterm deal would turn that down, i think. detroit, charlotte, houston, okc... none of these teams need to be adding a ball dominant scoring PG

honestly i could see trae young for brad beal making a lot of sense for both sides. wiz would have to throw in some assets prob but the fit would be fairly clean on both ends of it. teams don't seem to make those kinda trades anymore tho

hard for me to believe they would be doing this if they were in the 9/10 game instead of the 7/8.

from an outside perspective, gobert throwing a punch (not even to the face...) seems like a fair reaction to what anderson said to him. it seems like organizationally they are taking anderson's side and kinda going out of their way to publicly shame gobert, which makes me think this isn't really about what happened in that huddle

i'm not really for the whole moving Trae thing, but i think it speaks to how much the hawks value the young guys on the roster. i could definitely see a version of this team without trae being very good under Quinn

gotta be a lot of at play here seems so premature compared to the typical timeline of getting rid of a star, maybe they feel like trae is going to ask out, they have an owner who didnt draft him, serious questions about his viability as a star, his values prob not going to be higher than now, coach killer/bad teammate, style of play issues etc

He’s only played for Lloyd Pearce and Nate. This has demonstrably been his most disappointing season. I’m need to see him under Quinn for a minute

they could also beat the heat and take 2 games off the celtics in a faux competitive series and the tenor around them would change a bit

i think theres prob a pretty good market for him now like a 3 firsts or equivalent type deal and yeah maybe thats low but what if he keeps going on the current trajectory it could be really bad then, anyway putting it out there that theyre listening to offers really looks like theyre determined to move him otherwise theyd try to do more quietly, they could just be incompetent too tho lol, or someones trying to will it to happen even if the whole org isnt on board idk

3 firsts doesn't make sense to me either. if that team exists it seems like it would stand out a mile as the obvious partner in that deal.

to be clear my argument is not that trae isn't worth three firsts if you strip away context and measure him up against guys like mitchell, murray, gobert etc. but like i said yesterday if you start going thru the teams to find candidates to trade a huge haul of assets to turn the keys of their franchise over to trae... i just don't see many options, personally. but maybe there's secret huge trae fans out there amongst the GM community

obvs finding a match for big trades is always a chore but i feel like getting 3 first for trae is pretty normal

small point guard is just a tough fit bcuz you really only need one of those guys on the floor. if you already have one (most teams) idk if you're trading all your assets for another one. at least w/ dame you know ppl actually like the guy
