embiid is like an 90th percentile defensive player, but I can’t really see the argument for him as a DPOY contender, there are just too many superior defensive players who lock in more consistently

good article. honestly for me it just comes down to the fact that jokic’s advantage in offense is so much larger than either embiid or giannis’s advantage on defense you just have to give it to him (and jokic’s defensive shortcomings are a bit overblown even if they are glaring)

celtics are so stacked he hasnt even really needed to do much just playing in the flow doing normal stuff

none of the media people i pay attention to had him so this is a nice surprise. i agree, sometimes it seems like he’s not having the impact of a typical 6man where the game tilts to his style or something, but he had his most efficient offensive season per TS% and is just really good at basketball.

One thing that gets lost with Embiid because of how good he’s been and his outsized personality is how he started playing so late compared to a lot of players. It is pretty admirable that he has really continued to work on his game even this offseason he worked on his passing and cutting down turnovers.

yeah its crazy he actually has a great feel for the game which tends to be harder the later you pick it up

yeah he’s the exception to most of those late blooming big dudes it’s all the more impressive

not to mention he missed his first two seasons
