I went to see the Clippers play in Portland on Sunday, Kawhi was amazing. Mistake-free basketball. Too bad about his point guard...

in thinking about who wins the west i kinda keep returning to..... why not the clippers? but every time i watch them i come away disgusted. and now this PG thing

theyre just too old and injury prone you look at their roster and theyve got a bunch of good players almost all of whom are past their peak you need young guys in the mix

with a healthy paul george they'd be a real threat, that's as good a top two as anyone in the west (except KD/Book I guess). guess they're just doomed to never get PG and Kawhi active at the same time.

the nuggets own them but for sure if everything goes right they could win the west, same can be said for like 3-4 teams tho

i do not like that match up for the clippers, but it also wouldn't be shocking if the clippers lost the first two in denver and then won four in a row or something

it looks like the nuggets are locked into facing either the suns, clippers, or warriors in round 2. some prize for being the 1 seed

he is a bad rim protector for sure

a lot of it has been effort for big stretches of this year tbh, but even at his best he is going to be limited just based on his athleticism etc. but thankfully there is more to defense than just rim protecting

guessing it means teams are getting to the basket a lot too, tho its unclear if hes talking about total points there

i think he expanded on this on zach lowe’s pod. it was brought up both in the context of the MVP discussion and then later the DPOY discussion bcuz JJJ and lopez are on the other side of the rim protection spectrum from jokic. my memory is that kirk is talking about total points scored against a single rim defender in a season. but i agree it says as much about the nuggets other players as it does jokic

I agree although as a biased observer I just have to note that embiid’s late run has come at the point of the season where the nuggets had the 1 seed wrapped up, and despite embiid’s great play, the sixers didn’t improve at all in the standings

he looked like dogshit last night, but it seemed more like rust than any obvious injury to me. I’d like to think if he were actually hurt they’d be extremely cautious with him, but I have no idea what goes through malone’s head. they also might have just figured jokic could play 20 mins or so and they’d be up 15-20 and he could sit the rest, though obviously that didn’t happen
