Talks had progressed and stalled, and the Suns appeared to be pivoting toward a three-way deal that might've landed them Atlanta's John Collins sometime Thursday morning, sources said. On the direction of his new owner, Mat Ishbia, general manager James Jones texted Nets GM Sean Marks sometime after 11 p.m. ET -- and it wouldn't be long until Ishbia and Nets owner Joe Tsai had cobbled together the final elements of the blockbuster trade, sources said.

Ishbia's initial hope was to keep Bridges out of the trade, but that was a nonstarter for the Nets. The Suns' offers weren't close to the Nets' asking price on Monday and Tuesday, and Marks kept working on possible trades to bolster the roster around Durant. The Nets pursued OG Anunoby in Toronto, and they discussed possible deals for Collins and Cleveland's Caris LeVert, but Durant's mood was unsettled and Brooklyn knew it had to push Phoenix to make the kind of offer it couldn't refuse.

the nets drove a hard bargain on KD and kyrie and ended up w/ two great looking trades on paper, i will tip my cap to sean marks even tho he orchestrated one of the greatest organizational disasters of our time. this is kinda like if after the deepwater horizon spill BP had actually done a good job of cleaning up all the oil

the east is in an interesting spot longterm. the celtics will be around for a while, but the bucks are getting old, who knows what happens w/ the sixers after this season, the heat and raptors are in weird in between spots. the hawks are not in a great place. the cavs figure to be good for a few years. and then you have like... orlando and indiana in the long term. but it's not inconceivable that the nets could turn this around fairly quickly and be finals contenders the season after next

they would need to get some guys

i think the way forward for them is to do this + two firsts tho

xxp Poeltl trade suggests that the Raptors see the east similarly, that this is a fluke down year for them and while they can't really hang with the big boys without a bigger star, they can at least be feisty and competitive with OG, Siakam, Scottie, Poeltl

unless they trade one of those first 2 guys in the next 3 hrs...

imo the raps roster has a lot of telent but doesnt really make sense so they should do a trade at some point to balance things out rather than to tank

the problem with the raptors (well one of them) is most of their main guys need new contracts after this year or next so if they stay the course they will have a team that is both bad and wildly expensive

Probably should have a moment of silence for one of the peak weird dark energy teams of all time in the nets for the past couple seasons. Just strange stuff.

i love that nature rejected them, a rare win for goodness and light

on paper the griz are strongest due to their ability to play both offense and defense but idk theyve been inconsistent so far, nugs are rolling but the defense is suspect, dubs still have their guys, bunch of other teams have guys too

outside of Brogdon I can't think of a single good one for the Bucks, I guess Luc Richard & Ersan were decent role players
