Latest report from @TheSteinLine confirms that one of Joe Tsai’s presumed objectives in a Kyrie trade was to not send him to his preferred landing spot: the Lakers

shams stepping up his game for the big trade

When Kyrie Irving demanded a trade from the Brooklyn Nets on Friday, a league-altering domino fell and shook up the marketplace, causing a shockwave across the league and an arms race to get underway. It would pit several of the league’s teams looking for that one difference-making piece that could get them to the top of the list of title contenders against each other.

you'd think they would keep the league-altering domino somewhere safer

ciderpress, Monday, 6 February 2023 04:20 (three years ago)

TBH I'm a little bit relieved that Kyrie is off the table now that Curry's out for weeks, because who knows what impulsive thing Lacob would've pulled.

Christian Wood is well aware that Mavs are discussing potential trades involving him. He says he's trying to stay off social media and talk to Jason Kidd and GM Nico Harrison as much as possible.

What is he hearing from them? "Uh, nothing," Wood said. "I hope I’m not traded."

Good way to let a group of 11-year-olds know that you're a casual fan but not necessarily hardcore (and also a little old and scatterbrained):

"Do we need the screaming? You don't see Kyle Durant out on the court screaming at the top of his lungs."

clemenza, Monday, 6 February 2023 20:01 (three years ago)

lolbron

LeBron sat down with @RealMikeWilbon to share his thoughts on the Lakers not being able to trade for his former teammate Kyrie Irving:

"I can’t sit here and say I’m not disappointed on not being able to land such a talent." pic.twitter.com/2smRTk3Y0c

four square ups... no punches thrown (Spottie), Monday, 6 February 2023 21:15 (three years ago)

yeah he should be mad of course. the content is good.

four square ups... no punches thrown (Spottie), Monday, 6 February 2023 21:15 (three years ago)

the funny thing is the lakers actually had the most cover for a kyrie trade given that the one thing you can point to in kyrie's career is that he won a title playing no 2 to the best player on the lakers. but i think they did the smart thing

J0rdan S., Monday, 6 February 2023 21:18 (three years ago)

yeah better in the long run

four square ups... no punches thrown (Spottie), Monday, 6 February 2023 21:21 (three years ago)

the lakers did make an offer for kyrie. chris haynes wasn't very specific about what it contained beyond the two firsts. it had to be more than that.

more difficult than I look (Aimless), Monday, 6 February 2023 21:23 (three years ago)

there seems to be two things at play one is that the nets reportedly wanted to fuck kyrie over by sending him somewhere other than LA, also that the nets still want to be good this year and the lakers have no good players on their team

J0rdan S., Monday, 6 February 2023 21:26 (three years ago)

hmmm

ESPN Sources: Nets-Mavs trade still hasn’t been made official with league office because Nets are evaluating opportunities to expand deal w/ a third team. Teams are expected to make two-way deal official in next couple of hours – unless Nets find something bigger to fold into it.

Clay, Monday, 6 February 2023 21:29 (three years ago)

nets should be trying for lauri

micah, Monday, 6 February 2023 21:37 (three years ago)

Among the possibilities for expanding the Kyrie Irving-to-Dallas trade before this evening's scheduled trade call: League sources say that Brooklyn has explored the feasibility of packaging Spencer Dinwiddie and draft capital to Toronto in an attempt to acquire Fred VanVleet. https://t.co/L6kg8rNmoy

— Marc Stein (@TheSteinLine) February 6, 2023

i would not do that!

J0rdan S., Monday, 6 February 2023 21:39 (three years ago)

lauri might have one of the most desirable contracts in the league - two more years left at less than 20M per and hes only 25

micah, Monday, 6 February 2023 21:40 (three years ago)

i think the jazz want to build around him tho?

four square ups... no punches thrown (Spottie), Monday, 6 February 2023 21:50 (three years ago)

everything everybody has been saying is that they're not trading him

J0rdan S., Monday, 6 February 2023 21:58 (three years ago)

right i thought i had heard otherwise

micah, Monday, 6 February 2023 23:18 (three years ago)

usual trade means an exchange but idk

The Miami Heat are trading center Dewayne Dedmon and a second-round pick to the San Antonio Spurs, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium.

— Shams Charania (@ShamsCharania) February 7, 2023

lag∞n, Tuesday, 7 February 2023 16:36 (three years ago)

No surprise Dewayne Dedmon is being traded. That's been building since that whole incident on the bench. And Miami needed create some flexibility under the tax line. They've done that now.

Spurs get closer to the floor, all for renting a little cap space in exchange for a pick.

I really want to like Ja he's like the most fun to watch but he's not heading in a great direction

Ja Morant believes the Grizz are the most hated team in the NBA.

"We are, you see it on social media. Anything that has to do with the Grizzlies is front line national television and national people putting it out. Anything else, it don't be said."
