i’m more open than most to the idea that trading for kyrie could be good but i don’t see how taking the best wing defender off a bottom 5 defense and replacing him with kyrie really helps all that much in the long run

Mavericks GM Nico Harrison has a long history with Irving going back to their Nike days together - and Jason Kidd wanted this trade. Dallas needed a second star for Luka Doncic and gets him with Irving. Mavs can see how it goes and decide on new deal in offseason.

i wonder what other offers the nets were getting. i can’t imagine any of them were that strong. still seems like they settled for the sake of finally being done with him.

Hmmm. Woj is more reliable than Shams. Looking at the verbs in that tweet it really sounds like a done deal. The Mavs front office has screwed the pooch.

i feel like what tipped this over the edge was the mavs putting in finney smith and a first. i don’t think any other team was offering a players + picks package that good. if this trade was dinwiddie and only one of those things i don’t think i’d hate it…
