The KAT injury sitch is becoming kind of weird, lots of mixed messages then KAT said something contradicting the team doctors on Twitch or something, par for the course

I think the problem is there's ways that Ant and Gobert work, and ways KAT and Ant work, but maybe not all three together?

ant gobert pick n roll with kat spaced out seems like it should make sense but i guess you cant just run that all the time and also kat prob wants plays called for him too which cld maybe be a lil more complicated but idk it should work kats such a good shooter theyre playing four out i dont see what the issue is

mb ant is just figuring out how to play with gobert and kat being out is a red herring

part of it is prob that ants playmaking court vision etc isnt the strongest part of his game its a good opportunity to develop it tho which he needs to do if he wants to maxx out his potential

he's gotten much better at that stuff this year

a big thing is kat missed training camp, I think rudy was pretty gassed from euro ball at the beginning of the season, then kat hasn't played since november it's just been disjointed

i have a suspicion that while kat has the skillset of an effective off-ball/spacing guy, he might not be all that effective doing it irl.

amazing run and yet its still kinda hard to get that game vs embiid out of my head

windhorst made a good point on his podcast w/ kevin pelton that jokic seemed to be playing as if he was taking the high road in the manufactured "rivalry" with embiid, like he never pointedly took it at him or anything, he just really played his game looking for his teammates and what not. embiid on the other hand seemed to be on a mission to prove a point to the world. jokic didn't play like he had anything to prove, for better or worse. they play again later in the season and i bet jokic will come into that game w/ a different mindset

the more interesting thing from that game is that the sixers had a lot of success using PJ tucker on jokic in the fourth quarter which kinda dovetails w/ draymond's relative success against him. getting shorter thicker intense ass dudes all up in his shit is prob the best way to defend him but there aren't very many guys like that in the league

vid on that topic a good thing about the approach is that embiid got to hang out in the lane which hurt jokic passing when usually he can rely on dragging the opposing center out to the perimeter leaving the lane free of rim protection

yeah i fully expect jokic to counter next time they play. doesnt usually take him long to figure stuff out.

I think it’s probably true that jokic didn’t come into the game with the same mindset as embiid, who obviously was taking the game personally, and good for him! embiid did take over the second half and had a better game for sure overall, but jokic did outplay him in the first half, when he had the offense humming and was just playing his game. embiid had 25 on 17 shots in the first half but lost his minutes pretty handily. sort of a microcosm of the two players and their particular styles in a sense

credit to doc for making the adjustment and taking embiid off jokic in the second half. I don’t know that it’s true at all that jokic struggles vs smaller players, but if you have a roster that can put a plus defender on jokic and allow another plus defender to roam and protect the rim at the same time, that’s prettt much the ideal scenario guarding the nuggets. there are adjustments the nuggets can make and frankly should have made, for one thing jokic just has to attack that matchup, which I’m sure he will be better at next time, but I’d also love to see them size down and put MPJ in for gordon, really force embiid to run around a little more and draw him out of the paint.

also as undeniably great as embiid was, he took 7 of his shots in that game from inside the paint and ran extremely hot on his jumper, and it took a flawless harden performance and some great shooting from tobias harris and georges niang, not to mention some boneheaded play from the nuggets bench to end the third quarter, for the sixers to claw back. it was a depressing loss as a nuggets fan for obvious reasons but it felt like one of those football games where you control possession for like 65% of the game but give it away on special teams. annoying, but not anything insurmountable imo. but they do need to trade bones

that was a fun game and I'm glad I stayed up for it but why was Milwaukee playing a game that started at 9 CST? its weird. Bucks they went on a similar stretch in the 1st, think they had 4 points through the first 6 minutes. that isn't even how they got down 21, lol

gametime strictly for tv tho idk why they didnt just air den gs instead feel like they didnt used to push east games back like that but they do now idk

you never like to point the finger at one guy but the fact that luka garza was out there guarding jokic...i saw the box score and he had a good scoring game, but -16 in 21 minutes is pretty rough
