*and things of that nature

look I do kinda feel for LeBron, there's definitely a version of this where he goes to a less dysfunctional team and gets all those Tom Brady-esque "how is he still doing this" headlines that he very much deserves, on the other hand it is very funny. many sides, many sides

i read lebron's dramatic nature as part and parcel of being a first gen social media baby, god help us if MJ and KG and Charles had been alive in the twitter era

bron was an adult when the social media era began fwiw sort of a straddle generation doubt he was too online growing up, but despite being one of the oldest players in the league he seems pretty interested in whatever the latest stuff is, still keeps up with the new uniform trends wearing the mid thigh shorts with the compression peaking out this season knows all the songs things of that nature, must be embarrassing for his kids lol

Like everyone else, referees make mistakes. We made one at the end of last night’s game and that is gut-wrenching for us. This play will weigh heavily and cause sleepless nights as we strive to be the best referees we can be.
i'm just dying at this. like a detective squad who just missed out on catching a killer, who went on to kill again.

lebron is an old millenial, and old millenials either stayed up or didnt and he clearly did
― four square ups... no punches thrown (Spottie), Monday, 30 January 2023 17:13 (three years ago)
myspace launched a few months after he graduated high school, and even myspace is more proto-social media imo, it doestnt become fully formed until the feed

― four square ups... no punches thrown (Spottie), Monday, 30 January 2023 17:47 (three years ago)
to be clearer cider, by "first gen social media baby" i don't mean to say he grew up with social media but that he's the first generation to access/embrace it.lebron somehow seems more online than me, which is weird
― POLIZISTEN VERSINKEN IM SCHLAMM (forksclovetofu), Monday, 30 January 2023 17:48 (three years ago)
i dont think using twitter/facebook/instagram is being 'online' tbh but yeah using the three websites is normal person behavior if you're under 40 i get it
― ciderpress, Monday, 30 January 2023 18:11 (three years ago)
lebron "cheugy king" james

also worth mentioning that LeBron was pretty famous even in high school when he was first anointed the heir to Jordan's throne. also got married young, had kids young, never really got to live the typical hooper life. I think there's sort of a Michael Jackson thing going on with him. obviously he has no problem being the man and his career stats speak for themselves but I also feel like he really just wanted to be on a normal championship team full of guys he could trust, hard to forget during those GSW finals how visibly frustrated he was when his teammates just kept passing the ball back to him
― frogbs, Monday, 30 January 2023 18:37 (three years ago)
yeah hes said that going to miami was college for him

trade season is upon us my friends. let the rumors and trades flow
The Raptors have officially started listening to trade calls on OG Anunoby with the Knicks and Suns being the most interested, per @ShamsCharania. raps gonna get a haul for him type of guy everyone wants
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 31 January 2023 19:32 (three years ago)
mb should be thinking about trading siakim instead tho just cause hes older, on the other hand hes not old and hes better so raps are prob thinking about more of "a reset" than a rebuild here which is fair if they think they can pull it off
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 31 January 2023 19:34 (three years ago)
they have a bunch of talent and a good coach why arent they winning is the thing
― four square ups... no punches thrown (Spottie), Tuesday, 31 January 2023 19:36 (three years ago)
bad vibes?
fvv is mb cooked? rest of the east just got better+random variance?
― slai gorgeous-alexander (m bison), Tuesday, 31 January 2023 19:39 (three years ago)
they dont have enough playmaking bench is bad theyre trying to run everything through barnes which is way too much for him right now fred has been bad
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 31 January 2023 19:41 (three years ago)
they had a crazy late season run last year and were still only +2 so its not like they were great
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 31 January 2023 19:43 (three years ago)
year before that they were bad
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 31 January 2023 19:44 (three years ago)
the vibes are bad too tho when ive watched them theyve missed tons of defensive rotations just not playing like a team of all 6-8 guys with a great coach should be
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 31 January 2023 19:51 (three years ago)
seems like this group lost their soul a bit once they traded lowry
― four square ups... no punches thrown (Spottie), Tuesday, 31 January 2023 19:55 (three years ago)
ultimately theres just not enough 6-8 guys with guard skills to build whole team youre gonna just need some guards
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 31 January 2023 20:14 (three years ago)
like the celtics have two big wings with guard skills and they still have guards
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 31 January 2023 20:15 (three years ago)
the suns going from 6 usable players to 5 would be an interesting strategy. i think they should try it out
― J0rdan S., Tuesday, 31 January 2023 22:37 (three years ago)
fred has been on a hot streak recently, i doubt he is like done at 28.
― call all destroyer, Wednesday, 1 February 2023 00:41 (three years ago)
The raptors thing is to play the most aggressive defense in the nba on every possession, and to have a small rotation doing it. I think it wore them down.
― Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 1 February 2023 00:47 (three years ago)
they’re one of those teams that legitimately has half an NBA roster. you look at their box scores and there’s always two guys who shouldn’t be getting minutes and three other guys who never play and who you’ve never heard of. they get a lot of credit for developing their entire starting line up but they have not done the same with the bench
― J0rdan S., Wednesday, 1 February 2023 03:10 (three years ago)
i think we've also learned you can't build an NBA team that has 1 pg and 1 center
in retrospect that playoff series vs philly prob should've been a wake up call. philly almost choked it away but they manhandled the raptors for much of that series and that was not a particularly good philly team. it's prob a bad match up for them w/ embiid and all but van vleet was bad in that series, he looked small and overwhelmed. siakam is a good player but he's not putting you on his back and dragging you to the ECF.
― J0rdan S., Wednesday, 1 February 2023 03:14 (three years ago)
yeah, it seems like they were waiting for one of their 6'8" chimera guys to turn into something really special and it hasn't happened. siakam is maybe the least exciting all-nba caliber player of his time.
― call all destroyer, Wednesday, 1 February 2023 03:15 (three years ago)
you really cant just draft based on long arms alone
― lag∞n, Wednesday, 1 February 2023 03:20 (three years ago)
for a second it rly felt like toronto had figured something out, wonder if okc's all 6'11"+ lineups will suffer a similar fate, but i think sga kind of saves them there
