got another cousin playing at a juco in san diego and i streamed a game last weekend and it was like 80% threes 20% something inside and i dont think one player from either team shot anything between the arch and 5 feet. 5 out and full court press. very weird to watch, ive seen more entertaining pickup games tbf

heat and pacers just finished a game 87-82 shooting a combined 60-162 from the field (37%), 20-73 from three (27%) with 32 turnovers to 39 assists. hard to imagine there will be many uglier games this year

he's in a great situation putting up superficially good stats on a team that has the sixth worst record in the league and is bottom 10 in defense but doesn't ever really care if it's good. he should never leave

watching your team throwing it in the paint to some big stiff at one of the highest rates in the league while heading straight for the lottery dead zone (pick 7)... i wouldn't love being a wizards fan

for sure, and I would bet being out of the spotlight is helping a lot too. I don’t think he’s ever going to be the impactful defensive player people envisioned after those first couple of years with the knicks

looking at some lebron stats, some worrying indicators of cooked-ness:

his shot distribution stands out as, 54% of his shots are either in the 3-10 foot range (shooting 38% from there) or from 3 (shooting 31.5% from 3), so over half of his attempts are garnering a 44% efg%. he’s still shooting 75% at the rim, but taking the lowest percentage of his shots there in his career (30%), and has by far the lowest free throw rate of his career (.217).

he also is near his career lows in assist percentage and steal percentage…all of which sort of points toward deteriorating play making and settling for low-value scoring opportunities

the eye test passes too. just rarely has the lift on drives to the hoop, lots more using his body to shield and throwing something up type drives. way too many threes.

its rough for him too that the lakers are forced to play one of the fastest paces in the league since the break is the only reliable way for them to get buckets, not great for a team full of old guys

also being running mates with the most injury prone dude in the league puts a lot on him.

all the lakers were so cooked by the end of regulation in that celtics game just jacking up terrible 3s in ot cause its all they could do
