there was a stretch last year after he came back from his sprained ankle where he was putting in 30+ per night. he’s huge for a PG too

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 15 November 2022 19:52 (three years ago)

okc points scored last four games 132, 132, 145, 122

lag∞n, Tuesday, 15 November 2022 19:53 (three years ago)

yes

slai gorgeous-alexander (m bison), Tuesday, 15 November 2022 19:53 (three years ago)

hes playing like an mvp it might be smart to just focus on that from here on out. giddey seems like the perfect 2nd/3rd banana depending on how chet works into it all.

im a beacon of light (Spottie), Tuesday, 15 November 2022 20:12 (three years ago)

giddy is super talented but has a long way to go, got stripped by the celtics like five times in 10mins last night, he cant defend or shoot which is an untenable combo

lag∞n, Tuesday, 15 November 2022 20:16 (three years ago)

yeah i think simmons had him in the top 40 of his trade value list which i thought was completely crazy. he’s a fun player to watch but if you can’t shoot and can’t defend there’s not really a role for you on a real NBA team nowadays

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 15 November 2022 20:18 (three years ago)

if i were him i would learn to shoot

lag∞n, Tuesday, 15 November 2022 20:19 (three years ago)

oh wow didnt realize it was that bad... seems like hes made a jump in shooting numbers so far this season tho

For all the talk about Donovan Mitchell never passing Rudy Gobert the ball:

Mitchell passed to Gobert 4.4 times per game in Utah.

Anthony Edwards has passed to Gobert only 1.7 times per game in Minnesota. They've run 125 pick-and-rolls, Gobert received the ball only four times. pic.twitter.com/OsskLl7TSe

lag∞n, Thursday, 17 November 2022 19:39 (three years ago)

Giddey's shooting has been getting better this season.

Poku has been the biggest surprise as an OKC fan this year. He's suddenly looking like a pretty solid NBA player after a couple of years of adjusting. He's starting to shoot 3s decently and has 1.8 blocks per game.

Ousmane Dieng is down in G-League at the moment, but I reckon he has star potential.

aphoristical, Thursday, 17 November 2022 23:08 (three years ago)

poku been looking pretty steady of late for sure

im a beacon of light (Spottie), Thursday, 17 November 2022 23:26 (three years ago)

love poku rooting for him, okc is sweet, too bad chet got injured tho

lag∞n, Thursday, 17 November 2022 23:28 (three years ago)

okc's plan of "what if the whole team was stretched out guys" is kind of brilliant, chet + wemby + poku + dieng would be an absolute fever dream of arm length

I would love to read a really detailed article by, like, a kinesiologist about how SGA does what he does. Or watch an ESPN Sport Science or whatever.

He was the same way at Kentucky. Looks (relatively) slow and like he's not working hard, but usually gets to his spots with enough space to make shots.

It's pretty amazing if you watch it for very long.

alpine static, Friday, 18 November 2022 00:54 (three years ago)

I reckon OKC has a chance of being around the play-in game this year if SGA stays healthy and they don't shamelessly tank.

They're 7-8 - half of their losses have been against the Nuggets, Timberwolves, and Bucks. teams with dominant bigs that they need Chet to help with.

aphoristical, Friday, 18 November 2022 01:00 (three years ago)

was just looking at some of jokic’s basic shooting splits to start the season, silly stuff:

0-3 ft: .771
3-10 ft: .625
10-16 ft: .467
16-23 ft: .857

k3vin k., Friday, 18 November 2022 04:11 (three years ago)

wait hes shooting 86% from 16-23 feet???

― im a beacon of light (Spottie), Friday, November 18, 2022 2:01 AM (ten hours ago)

yeah but looking at his frequencies, he hardly ever shoots from that distance, I think it’s like 6/7 or something lol

the part of that that means something is his deadliness from within 10 feet. 77% at the rim (coupled with career high free throw rate AND career high free throw percentage) plus 62.5% from floater range…simply unstoppable. now if he would only take some more shots…

and yeah joe he’s been awful from 3 lol

how come every site has a different number for offensive defensive and net rating isnt it just a points per possession situation whats going on here

current boston celtics offrtg
nba.com: 119.1 https://www.nba.com/stats/teams/advanced?dir=A&sort=OFF_RATING
basketball ref: 121 https://www.basketball-reference.com/leagues/NBA_2023_ratings.html
statmuse: 120 https://www.statmuse.com/nba/ask?q=offensive+rating+2022-2023+nba+teams

then two that are called offensive efficiency
espn: 117.8 http://www.espn.com/nba/hollinger/teamstats
team rankings: 116.4 https://www.teamrankings.com/nba/stat/offensive-efficiency

lag∞n, Sunday, 20 November 2022 15:48 (three years ago)

i believe the formula for offensive rating is more complex than just points per 100 possessions, but didn’t know there were that many variants on it

call all destroyer, Sunday, 20 November 2022 15:58 (three years ago)

basketball refs says its just points per, wikipedia says otherwise but links to the basketball ref page lol, player rating is def a whole algo tho

lag∞n, Sunday, 20 November 2022 16:45 (three years ago)

then there is adjusted rating, idk why the plain one wld be any more than points per its what the people want

lag∞n, Sunday, 20 November 2022 16:46 (three years ago)

ohhh maybe i was looking at player rating.

but yeah let’s all get on the same page and use one rating here.

call all destroyer, Sunday, 20 November 2022 17:13 (three years ago)

it wasnt even like i looked for five that didnt match those were the first five i found lol
