its cool if the refs want to t guys up for complaining too long thats just annoying for everyone but all this respect for the game shit is just shit

you should be able to do a little light taunting as long as youre not in a guys face, you should be able to have a momentary emotional reaction to a call as long as its not super aggressive, you should be able to use cusses in conversation with a ref as long as its not a straight up insult, these things are just normal theyre fine

honestly i think most of it is just that they match up well with the bucks and teams that run their offense through big men. also, Jrue sat so there wasn't any real pick and roll threat. being able to throw Capela and Okongwu at Giannis the whole game is really nice. Okongwu in particular plays great one-on-one defense with Giannis. i'm so enamored with him. the only reason Embiid went off on the hawks so hard the other night is bc Okongwu sat.

but yeah, the defense is a lot better. moving on from Gallinari means Okongwu's the first big off the bench. plus Dejounte--who has been ridic on D--replaced Huerter, so it's kind of natural they would improve just through roster moves. i'm still not convinced though. the utah game was a disaster on the defensive side and i think they still struggle with a good p&r guard. we'll see though. they definitely look a lot better and have a lot of potential on that end.

this season will hinge on the development of the bench. it's young and athletic now. Jalen Johnson looks like a promising backup to Collins and i'm hoping they keep giving AJ Griffin minutes once Bogdanovich comes back. knowing Nate he'll go to Justin Holiday instead. AJ can shoot the fuck out of the ball and has been impressive off the dribble. as m bise mentioned up thread, his defense was the big worry but he's been solid. i still think this team needs to move on from nate to reach their potential. he's just really uncreative with his lineups and too slow to react. he's not awful but they can be a lot more consistent.
