it should get better, they've played a pretty tough schedule and haven't been able to blow anyone out yet. tomorrow against detroit would be a start.

i feel like there are definitely some different things happening on offense, the biggest one being that mazzulla has convinced them to play fast and push the ball off of rebounds. this team should be terrifying in transition and they are finally using that advantage. i think they're also letting guys go to some of their preferred spots and play types a little more freely, like it seems like the marcus post up is an official thing and they're using that to play inside out with his passing skills. and lastly they're driving more--brogdon adds an awesome drive game and this is certainly the best tatum has ever looked as a driver.

kind of nitpicky since the celtics are currently lapping the league on offense but what is up with their defense, they were first in defrtg last year and theyre 22nd this, some of it is obvs rob is out and the guys getting minutes behind him kornet et al are not that good, and then theyve been going small a lot white or brogdon replacing rob in the starting 5, but still the effort just doesnt seem there, maybe theyre too good at offense to care about dirt dog defense now idk

they were not great defensively two years ago in brads last year too after a multi year run near the top, i figured they were just sick of brad but maybe it was defense they were sick of and the only thing that could make them care was ime calling them soft in press conferences

generally teams without a good center don't rate well on defense in the reg season. horf getting too old to be that guy anymore

having a big scary guy in the paint is the best way to defend without playing at playoff intensity all the time

i mean yes i agree but also theyre just kinda of dogging it which maybe is fine its a long season but i dont think you really want to get in the habit of playing bad defense, like if they were more middle of the pack it wouldnt concern me but theyve been bad

the last couple games have been better, i think they’ll be middle of the pack soon enough but yes i would like to see some lockdown performances in the near future.
