the point stands that wiseman wasnt a good pick. feel bad for him cos he should be on the rockets or something getting 30mpg working through mistakes and here he has major expectations and a microscope on everything he does and has to produce in limited minutes doing things outside of what he's best at.

i mean maybe who knows, i suspect the dubs wouldnt have any problem accommodating someone as good as melo, its kind of like saying scottie barnes would just be doing kuminga type things if he were on the dubs, teams generally can find uses for good players, poole has actually been quite stretched in his role which is an indication of a need there, if you look at the dubs its just him as steph as far as perimeter creators xp

the warriors should've dealt wiseman while he still had trade value tho maybe his value was already tanked last season

its hard to deal young players who havent shown anything, tho who knows maybe someone out there still loved him

i just think a point guard coming up under steph curry in the warriors system which revolves entirely around steph is a very very unique situation, historically speaking really to say nothing of the current NBA. so i have a hard time just saying melo would be the exact same guy. i think a wing player like barnes or wagner has a much easier path to developing in a similar way as they would on other teams, tho kerr prob still would've favored igoudala and otto porter types in the finals

yea theres this too. lacobs mouthpieces (kawakami, fitz) are very slow to say anything negative about what they're seeing from wiseman

looney isn’t a longterm piece and we all know the situation with draymond so i think there’s more reasons than just hubris as to why they’re giving wiseman a long leash. but kuminga is a 4/5 in today’s NBA so the balance in playing time doesn’t really make sense to me

good comparison

its pretty wild to claim that melo (7:3 ast:to) would be a worse fit for the warriors than poole (3:2). warriors need someone to handle the ball and lighten the load on steph as he ages (particularly as dray turns into a pumpkin). and haliburton would be an incredible fit with steph, damn.

it’s only partly true that the warriors need someone to take the load off steph. that’s true in the regular season, not so much in the postseason where they need guys who can play alongside him

steph has always needed players alongside him to pass him the ball. with dray fading he is losing the passing and with klay fading he is losing the spacing he needs to catch those passes

kerrs system is reliant on having two of the best shooters of all time creating spacing with cuts and movement, but its not going to work with one shooter. if klay cant get back to his old self they should look at a system with more conventional drive and kick action etc. they dont have the players for that either right now but it would be more achievable

think its safe to say that melo would at the very least play the poole role considerably better than poole and probably do much more than that hes just good hes a baller dubs fans would be losing their shit over their good fortune were he on their team

also worth noting that playing with steph is easy not hard

yeah i dont think poole would have got that contract after playing on any other team

yeah i don’t think talent was ever the question with bol… it was the not being terrible at NBA basketball part. seems relevant to the wiseman convo in terms of a super raw talent getting onto a bad team where he can get minutes without anyone caring about the score
