Donte coming back this week will help big time and poole simply cant play any worse. so i think this will correct itself a bit but they for sure need some more veteran depth/presence for a long playoff run. meyers interview this week sounds like if things dont shape up they're ready to make moves

No he’s not thee issue but his play is not helping and it’s showing the team he can’t run the second unit as the lead guy, at least not with this mix. He’s so much better as a starter next to curry so I bet they’ll mix those minutes a bit more

right time in the season to fuck around and see with the lineup i suppose; would still be shocked if the warriors ended up in the playins

What if last year was a fluke and this is the real JP.

he had a lot of room to operate last year and was doing wild stuff, conditions not as favorable rn

klay was out he was cooking. but he also cooked in the playoffs in limited minutes. he had a cold spell last season as well. klay always does too. they'll both get better from here.

also the carrying calls are messing with him you can tell.

not being able to carry does make it harder

Is this a Dray starting rather than DLee situation where Poole should start over Klay ?

i dont think its gonna happen but its something to think about for sure, at least until klay gets to form (whatever the top end of his form is now)

Yes this needs to happen - I think it will by the end of the season if Klay doesn't improve on both ends of the floor significantly

Or ... and hear me out, Klay is traded. His contract is Westbrook levels bad if continues to play like this - he's slated to make over 40+ million next year. Drop him and a pick or three to a team and then resign Dray and have Poole start.

I know it feels like sacrilege to break up the Splash Bros but it's better now than end of next year.

if theyre going to make a trade they need to get better, moving a first to dump a contract is basically giving up on this team

Klays not going anywhere. He did enough in th playoffs to show he’s still impactful.

I could just see Klay not accepting a bench role and pouting, affecting performance. I could see them ditching him for maybe a decent veteran depth piece then. I do feel nostalgia might get in the way of winning with these guys.

Also Klay's pride has been almost blinding lately. If the team is better with Poole starting now, he needs to accept that ASAP and get over himself

hard to know with klay. hes never had the spotlight on him so even during his monthlong shooting slumps in the past or playing poorly in playoff games he usually escaped any scrutiny. but they arent winning right now and he keeps hoisting with no conscious. pretty much every other big player on the team has sacrificed or done something for the greater good of the team. i think it would be an easier sell than you think IF his poor play continues on into 2023. but who knows. hes earned enough good will to have a long rope and thats ok. where he is right now is where i thought hed be when he came back last season. so even if his max is what he showed in the playoffs/finals... its enough.

pooles gonna get his minutes regardless but he seems to be so much more aggressive playing as a starter. he might also need to suck it up and figure it out coming off the bench. also needs to get himself to a passable place on defense so he can be trusted at the end of games. klay is leagues beyond him in that regard even tho hes not what he was.

wiseman breakup is likely but the hope im sure is that he figures it out in the g league like poole did

also no one is leaving klay open and he still warps defenses with movement. thats still important even if he's not shooting his normal percentages atm.

that top three in shot location quality is just not that correlated with actual shot defense, its nice to force teams to take the bad shots but you have to get good contests too, if guys are just stepping into good 17 footers or whatever its not that great

no but it kinda matches the eye test. the defense is pretty bad right now but stuff like payne and bridges hitting 11/18 from three has been happening. theyre also getting killed on the glass and no one seems particularly locked in.

celtics d has picked up but at the very beginning of the season they were sucking while using shot location defense to uh defend themselves but watching them they just werent playing with intensity, the scheme was good but there just wasnt enough dog in the execution, think they were last in steals too, just not gonna get the job done

Klay's best game since the injuries! 41 pts, 10-13 from three including a couple clutch shots.

Was great last game as well. The team meeting seems to have got everyone on a similar page.
