lmao poole approaching a ref after the buzzer and iggy appears out of nowhere to redirect him

it seems like the right time for klay to be cooked

he's still a good three point shooter if he's wide open and not moving. and the warriors can get him a handful of those looks per game. but it just doesn't feel to me like he has anything left to his game beyond that

every warriors starter tonight was +3 or better, every warriors bench player was -8 or worse including -23 for poole and -22 for jamychal green. no heat starter was above +2 tonight, every heat bench player was +7 or better including +29 for gabe vincent and +19 for duncan robinson

for what poole is getting paid he really needs to make hay on the second unit

Klay didn’t play for 3 months I’m not worried about him yet. Wiseman is unplayable. And they badly need white donte back so they don’t have to play 2way Ty all these games.

Moody looks like he’ll be a good fit and can be trusted tho. Feel bad for wiseman he really needs to be on a bad team getting 35 minutes per night, his body language is incredibly depressing. He’s got the three big no nos for a big: hates contact, bad instincts and has stone hands.

that was crazy. they were all blatant though and there’s a certain way he dribbles

wiseman showed some skill & athleticism early in his rookie year but that was not a real warriors team. it’s entirely unclear to me how he’s supposed to succeed on this version of the team. he needs to be on the hornets or something

i didn’t realize klay sat the whole summer out. but he looks like the same guy he did when he came back last year. i think he’ll play a bit better, he doesn’t have his legs under him on a lot of jump shots, especially contested ones it felt like he was consistently short tonight. but he feels like a catch and shoot only player to me now & not one who is gonna consistently make shots when he’s moved off his spot. he gets so many easy looks in the warriors system that he’ll still have some nice runs… i think he scored 11 in the third quarter tonight. but outside of that he was pretty awful

i thought ppl were being harsh on him last year & he still had real value to them… but frankly tonight whenever he shot anything that wasn’t a wide open stand still catch and shoot three i thought it was a win for the heat

poole literally carries every time he dribbles but it never gets called and other players do the same thing. i think gabe vincent had one called on him and had two other ones that shoulda been called if they were calling consistently. as usual, all anyone wants is consistency with reffing and those calls made it seem like a league wide ref memo went out on jordan poole last night or something. i thought the dubs got kinda jobbed by the refs tonight but that happens.

i actually think klays form is looking more normal than it dad last season? but his overall rhythm seems off right now and yeah you can tell he's not trusting himself fully... but not playing will do that. this is basically his preseason/summer right now. in some ways its a miracle hes at the point hes at, but its kinda hard to watch to start this season.

its crazy how destructive wisemans minutes have been. they dont even need THAT much from him but his current skillset is not the right fit. he's just not a warriors system guy. kuminga needs run too, i think he's a better bet cos he's more sound defensively. would like to see him get some run at the 5 with the starters. idk kinda feels like some trades are in the future this season. these kids arent gonna be happy sitting another season out of the main rotation. even poole could be itching for a bigger role. these arent the worst problems for a franchise to have but early returns right now are that they're gonna lose a lot of games because their bench is hemorrhaging points.

they absolutely are carries and qualitatively different from the caleb martin one imo

hes easily the worst (best?) in the league as far as carrying the basketball none of the ones from last night were even his signature violation where he picks up the ball changes direction take multiple steps then puts it down again

i think he gets away with it cause hes so smooth refs like all cops are tuned to detect aberrant rhythms but he just looks normal so they dont notice it, like that blatant double dribble the other night, also they never call carries so of course someone always going to try to do it more

not nearly the worse ive seen him do but does have the basic elements of the poole carry, gets under the ball hesitates then takes it for a looping ride around his body, has more of a arcing path than most crossovers, tho again this one is pretty normal by nba standards and wouldnt look out of place if say ja did it

i do think id be good if the league tightened this stuff up a little bit

For the first half century of hoops teams were taught not to dribble more than a couple of times at most before passing. Modern players having great 'handles' is a direct product of refs allowing their hand to slide further and further down the sides of the ball without calling a carry. Poole carried, but it only makes sense to call him on it if this becomes a league-wide standard call.

o saw CP got called for one last night too and he was pissed about it in the post game int. i think its a good thing to call the super blatant ones... as long as its consistent.

Donte coming back this week will help big time and poole simply cant play any worse. so i think this will correct itself a bit but they for sure need some more veteran depth/presence for a long playoff run. meyers interview this week sounds like if things dont shape up they're ready to make moves

No he’s not thee issue but his play is not helping and it’s showing the team he can’t run the second unit as the lead guy, at least not with this mix. He’s so much better as a starter next to curry so I bet they’ll mix those minutes a bit more

right time in the season to fuck around and see with the lineup i suppose; would still be shocked if the warriors ended up in the playins

What if last year was a fluke and this is the real JP.

he had a lot of room to operate last year and was doing wild stuff, conditions not as favorable rn

klay was out he was cooking. but he also cooked in the playoffs in limited minutes. he had a cold spell last season as well. klay always does too. they'll both get better from here.

also the carrying calls are messing with him you can tell.

not being able to carry does make it harder

Is this a Dray starting rather than DLee situation where Poole should start over Klay ?

i dont think its gonna happen but its something to think about for sure, at least until klay gets to form (whatever the top end of his form is now)

Yes this needs to happen - I think it will by the end of the season if Klay doesn't improve on both ends of the floor significantly

Or ... and hear me out, Klay is traded. His contract is Westbrook levels bad if continues to play like this - he's slated to make over 40+ million next year. Drop him and a pick or three to a team and then resign Dray and have Poole start.

I know it feels like sacrilege to break up the Splash Bros but it's better now than end of next year.

if theyre going to make a trade they need to get better, moving a first to dump a contract is basically giving up on this team
