also pretty sure brogdon is a better fit than white or smart, will be interesting to see how that plays out
― lag∞n, Saturday, 15 October 2022 01:07 (three years ago)
right now theyre bringing him off the bench and maybe it makes sense to do that let him cook with second units and then finish games with a small lineup, keep his minutes down since hes injury prone, but towards the end of the season theyre prob going to want to get him more burn than that scheme affords
― lag∞n, Saturday, 15 October 2022 01:09 (three years ago)
congrats to haverhill native vonleh
Forward/center Noah Vonleh has made the Boston Celtics opening night roster, sources tell ESPN. Vonleh capped his preseason with a 14 point, 13-rebound game vs. Charlotte. A former lottery pick, he played last season in China.— Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) October 15, 2022

good for him, always had the feeling that maturity issues were part of why he didn’t pan out so hopefully that is behind him now.
― call all destroyer, Saturday, 15 October 2022 17:35 (three years ago)
yeah youd think theres a spot of him in the league
― lag∞n, Saturday, 15 October 2022 17:44 (three years ago)
thats nice of them to invite marcus
Per @SIChrisMannix, this #Celtics Sports Illustrated cover photo was only supposed to be Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. The Jays, however, wanted Marcus Smart included. They got their wish. pic.twitter.com/zhF5gJCZpS— Mike Kadlick (@mikekadlick) October 14, 2022
Does Sports Illustrated matter any more?

nah
― lag∞n, Saturday, 15 October 2022 17:52 (three years ago)
the jays have their quirks but seem to be unusually thoughtful for guys in their position. vibes seem great all around, i read a piece where blake was raving about how chill the team is and another where brogdon apparently was given a choice between boston and toronto and picked the c’s, which makes me feel better about him having any issues with his role.
― call all destroyer, Saturday, 15 October 2022 17:53 (three years ago)
yeah he seems very bought in ready to win and so forth also probably recognizes theres a big role for him if he does the right stuff
― lag∞n, Saturday, 15 October 2022 17:55 (three years ago)
he checked the vibes
― more difficult than I look (Aimless), Saturday, 15 October 2022 17:57 (three years ago)
my boy rwiii got platelets injected and “could be” back for the second half of the season :/
― Tracer Hand, Tuesday, 18 October 2022 18:01 (three years ago)
he really should not have been playing in the playoffs last year huh
― Spottie, Tuesday, 18 October 2022 18:10 (three years ago)
im sure its all chill just getting a lil that kobe
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 18 October 2022 18:28 (three years ago)
lol
Joe Mazzulla was asked to clarify what he said in a huddle during the Al Horford foul review when he appeared to say, 'The most important thing is [blank]'Joe: "I said the most important thing is don’t listen to anything I’m saying."— Jared Weiss (@JaredWeissNBA) October 19, 2022

that's a veteran answer lol
― call all destroyer, Wednesday, 19 October 2022 02:35 (three years ago)
he was coaching in the mountain east conf a few years ago incredible, couldnt even get in the mountain west

hahah i didn't know there was a "mountain east," that's great. he's the son of a rhode island basketball lifer so maybe new england + mountain east grit will guide him.

this is great

lol got him
― lag∞n, Wednesday, 19 October 2022 02:55 (three years ago)
we love the side to side multiple flowing actions baby its what we want
Little thing but just like the mindset from the Celtics on offense. Vonleh screens for Brown, Embiid gets up to the level so that's done. Swing to Horford now Tatum comes off a screen from Smart. Just side to side, wave actions. pic.twitter.com/77VPCavJlU— Steve Jones Jr. (@stevejones20) October 19, 2022

the celtics have for the second game in a row beat both a quality opponent and the scheming refs

― lag∞n, Saturday, 22 October 2022 01:59 (three years ago)
impressed by hauser on D.
vonleh also looks comfortably capable of soaking up those theis minutes. he's not a threat to shoot but his D seems fine and he gets the occasional put-back.
brown and tatum guilty occasionally of hero ball but i guess you have to do that stuff sometimes otherwise you're not going to draw the coverage for your kick-outs to actually work.
starting to feel a lot better about this season!
― Tracer Hand, Saturday, 22 October 2022 11:42 (three years ago)
celtics are going to win a bunch of games early this season just by being locked in and ready to go while most other teams are still getting up to speed
― lag∞n, Saturday, 22 October 2022 14:45 (three years ago)
thats the stuff baby
In Boston's first 2 games, Marcus Smart guarded James Harden, Tobias Harris, Tyrese Maxey, P.J. Tucker, Jimmy Butler, Tyler Herro, and Kyle Lowry for 102 total possessions. In those 102 possessions, Smart allowed those 7 players to score 11 points combined. pic.twitter.com/w4ev5hSQj9— Taylor Snow (@taylorcsnow) October 22, 2022
― lag∞n, Saturday, 22 October 2022 14:48 (three years ago)
celtics just not caring their coach got fired for scandalous behavior right before the start of the season is pretty cool and funny
― lag∞n, Saturday, 22 October 2022 14:50 (three years ago)
let the "coaches are not important" discourse begin
― terence trent d'ilfer (m bison), Saturday, 22 October 2022 14:51 (three years ago)
lets fuckin do this im ready
― lag∞n, Saturday, 22 October 2022 14:52 (three years ago)
interesting detail that when brad went to the front office he hired a guy who was much more of an a-dog type coach just a very different personality than him but now with mazzulla were back to a nerdy soft spoken guy
― lag∞n, Saturday, 22 October 2022 14:55 (three years ago)
when they do one of those mic'ed up moments in the huddle where the coach is gesticulating and barking at his players i'm like okay wow finally we're going to really understand how they set up their plays, the secret sauce and i swear every time it's just "get stops! stay connected! let's do this!"
― Tracer Hand, Saturday, 22 October 2022 14:56 (three years ago)
lol its true a lot of the in game communication is just rah rah shit
― lag∞n, Saturday, 22 October 2022 14:59 (three years ago)
Although to be fair pretty sure there is some kind of agreement between the league and teams that mic’ed up stuff that gets broadcast won’t reveal strategy or plays or anything, so we tend to get the most benign moments
― Lavator Shemmelpennick, Saturday, 22 October 2022 15:05 (three years ago)
it increasingly seems like maybe the guys listened to udoka but didn’t feel a ton of affection for him.
― call all destroyer, Saturday, 22 October 2022 15:09 (three years ago)
yeah i never got that sense with brad either though. maybe in the IT era when he had them outsmarting more talented teams but not after
― ciderpress, Saturday, 22 October 2022 21:32 (three years ago)
anyway, would be nice if the celtics could just play this whole season like they played the 2nd half of last season. they're clearly capable of it
― ciderpress, Saturday, 22 October 2022 21:41 (three years ago)
so far so good

Boston ranks 26th overall in defensive efficiency through three games despite facing three offenses that rank in the bottom half of the league.
― Tracer Hand, Sunday, 23 October 2022 10:21 (three years ago)
that seems statistically impossible unless they mean last year's rank which is fake
― ciderpress, Sunday, 23 October 2022 13:15 (three years ago)
its true for neither this year or last
― lag∞n, Sunday, 23 October 2022 13:18 (three years ago)
tho it is close this year but miami is 13th
― lag∞n, Sunday, 23 October 2022 13:19 (three years ago)
offense has been real nice tho, im sure theyll remember about d eventually
― lag∞n, Sunday, 23 October 2022 13:21 (three years ago)
That may have been posted before all the games were finished last night but they look like they are 25th rnThat said I barely know what defensive efficiency even is
― Tracer Hand, Sunday, 23 October 2022 13:21 (three years ago)
its just points allowed per possession, or per 100 possessions to get a more basketball score looking number i guess
― lag∞n, Sunday, 23 October 2022 13:25 (three years ago)
as long as were doing some early season stat enjoying jayson tatum is leading the league in scoring at 34.7ppg, congrats jayson!
― lag∞n, Sunday, 23 October 2022 13:43 (three years ago)
his motion on the three looks quicker to me. last year it looked like he was cranking up a construction crane every time. and he’s making good reads and passing well. i think he might end up being pretty good!
― Tracer Hand, Sunday, 23 October 2022 13:48 (three years ago)
only 33% from 3 so far but get ready for it... 74% from two! not bad
― lag∞n, Sunday, 23 October 2022 13:50 (three years ago)
