if you watch his highlight packages most of the offense is lobs put backs and so forth, not sure where all of this is coming from, but it looks pretty good lol

that fadeaway from the corner is nuts, the kind of play you draw up with 1.3 seconds left down three points in desperation.

if he can actually hit jumpers like this in the NBA he will be quite literally unguardable

yeah like 90% of nba players have no chance of contesting his shot theyre just not in the picture

hollinger was making the point that if he's more of a big than a wing he will have to get stronger and develop post moves or else he will be susceptible to being guarded by smaller players (i.e. the porzingis problem). but if he can just shoot over anyone/everyone from anywhere on the court at different angles at a 50%ish rate then there's just nothing you can do

right exactly. if you go back and watch early zinger he was obv a better athlete than post knee injury but he was still kind of a stiff. he had that real upright walking on stilts aspect to him. wembanyama moves around like he's 6' 7"

also he's gonna get stronger and bigger as he gets into his 20s, i don't want to think about it bc he's not real

hollinger (on his pod w/ nate duncan) was saying that ralph sampson was the closest comp. i'm not familiar w/ his game but he was a phenom for many of the same reasons as wembanyama, in terms of size and skill. obv it was a whole different game then so in some ways hard to compare but that one felt like a good comp to me. the one thing hollinger said about sampson is that he was known to be kinda soft where wembanyama seems to have the competitive fire you need to be an all time great

imagine if someone had coached sampson to play like wembanyama does, the nba prob wouldve had to shut down

i mean, something is gonna give between the warriors and klay, draymond, poole, wiggins etc. they're gonna have to shed a $100m+ contract from their payroll at some point.

yeah seems like theyre ok playing the huge tax bill as long as theyre competing but im sure theyre thinking about how to not have all that on the books once the team ages out, maybe they can give dray a big two year deal or something

Yah but I don’t see how Dray has any voice in the locker room any more. He’s supposed to mentoring all the young guys. He just cost himself a lot of money off that contract talk too. Poole could easily say him or me. Just a lot of things that can happen from here and everyone just moving on and locking back in seems very unlikely

its a fraught situation for sure, i wonder how much this changes his rep amongst the guys tho, i mean hes a famous loose cannon
