in 1995 you'd def have teams lining up to trade their best 23 year old all star making no money for a 34 year old KD but that's never gonna happen nowadays
― J0rdan S., Monday, 22 August 2022 16:53 (three years ago)
in 2022, you'd have a legion of reply guys lining up to do the same
― comedy khadafi (voodoo chili), Monday, 22 August 2022 17:08 (three years ago)
it's completely understandable why a young and fun team like the grizzlies wouldn't want to fuck up the juju they had last year by trading young pieces and importing the "beat it kid" guy
― comedy khadafi (voodoo chili), Monday, 22 August 2022 17:09 (three years ago)
the intractable issue is that the only teams who should be trying to trade for KD are teams who can win the title and if you're trying to win a title by trading for KD you're going to want to keep as many good players on your team as possible
― J0rdan S., Monday, 22 August 2022 17:11 (three years ago)
yeah theres a bunch of things that make this deal tough but prob the biggest is the nets arent willing to do a picks centered deal, so if you have to hollow your team out to get him then theres no point in getting him
― lag∞n, Monday, 22 August 2022 17:28 (three years ago)
then combine that with the fact that hes old injury prone disloyal and makes a shitload of money and it just becomes hard to put something together
― lag∞n, Monday, 22 August 2022 17:29 (three years ago)
why did kd sign that long ass extension lol
― Spottie, Monday, 22 August 2022 17:34 (three years ago)
yeah he should gone the bron way of signing a bunch of two year deals
― lag∞n, Monday, 22 August 2022 17:39 (three years ago)
yeah that is really puzzling
― J0rdan S., Monday, 22 August 2022 17:43 (three years ago)
he was so smart doing that with the dubs then decided to hitch his wagon to his mopey pal and an unproven coach/franchise... cos vibes. i guess he could also realize he is on the downslope and could have another huge injury so just took the most he could get as soon as he could get it, but that doesnt seem likely. his miscalculations are piling up.
he shoulda locked in w the dubs and gone for bill russells record.
― Spottie, Monday, 22 August 2022 17:55 (three years ago)
ah ok
Steve Nash, Joe Tsai and Sean Marks met with Kevin Durant and Rich Kleiman in Los Angeles on Monday and have decided to move forward with partnership, Nets say.— Shams Charania (@ShamsCharania) August 23, 2022

the roster actually makes a lot of sense... from a basketball perspective
― Spottie, Tuesday, 23 August 2022 15:54 (three years ago)
at the very least they made kd see that hes making it harder for them to trade him

name a bigger punk than KD
― k3vin k., Wednesday, 24 August 2022 00:30 (three years ago)
as a brooklynite who has watched this dumpster fire of a relationship belch and sputter, i have mixed feelings about kd for sure but blaming him for journeyman unemployment seems a bit of a stretch for anyone but pat bev and his ongoing audition for post career talking head
― i cannot help if you made yourself not funny (forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 24 August 2022 01:27 (three years ago)
i guess we can't quite close the book on it yet but kd completely failing to shoot his way out of town is funny
― call all destroyer, Wednesday, 24 August 2022 01:48 (three years ago)
it is pretty good particularly since he custom made the situation
― lag∞n, Wednesday, 24 August 2022 01:52 (three years ago)
i'm comfortable with how this worked out (given that it is the only way it was ever going to work out and also everyone involved is at least slightly humiliated)

Man, that Boston d really did a number on him.

― Spottie, Thursday, 25 August 2022 06:57 (three years ago)
oh lol oops i said that backwards didn't i, anyways yes maybe they should consider trading russell westbrook that's my two cents

Oklahoma City Thunder 7-footer Chet Holmgren will miss the 2022-2023 season with a Lisfranc injury to his right foot. Holmgren, the No. 2 pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, suffered the injury in a Pro-Am game in Seattle on Saturday.— Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) August 25, 2022

― frogbs, Thursday, 25 August 2022 15:44 (three years ago)
I'm seeing the (stupider) commentariat saying this was inevitable because lolskinny, but that seems wrong in this case? Like, you'd think any foot-related injury would involve it supporting a lot of weight, right? Not a doctorb obviously.
― we talkin bout praxis (Leee), Thursday, 25 August 2022 18:04 (three years ago)
doubt he was more or less injury prone than any 19yo player
― ciderpress, Thursday, 25 August 2022 18:09 (three years ago)
Yeah with 7 footers and foot injuries generally more weight is bad
― Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 25 August 2022 19:17 (three years ago)
given that he suffered his injury playing on a wet court in a game that was subsequently called off 20 mins later, it doesn't feel like anything to be alarmed about longterm
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 25 August 2022 19:20 (three years ago)
Pro ams w current nba players had a good run
― Spottie, Thursday, 25 August 2022 21:33 (three years ago)
courts will only get wetter from here
