The Knicks are trading center Nerlens Noel and guard Alec Burks to the Pistons, sources tell ESPN. The Knicks will unload $19M more in salary, clearing the way for cap space to try and sign free agent guard Jalen Brunson.— Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) June 29, 2022

Detroit is eager to utilize center Nerlens Noel and guards Alec Burks next season. GM Troy Weaver had Noel on his team in Oklahoma City, and Burks is an ideal veteran to mentor the Pistons talented young group of guards.— Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) June 29, 2022

Tremendous coup for Detroit GM Troy Weaver to land two of his top targets in this draft: Jaden Ivey and Jalen Duren -- with the cost of only a future first-round pick.— Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) June 24, 2022

it's boring but i'm fine with the pistons being patient. they will have rookies and second-year players they're trying to develop so winning now isn't really in the cards.

Yah they just gotta build around cades timeline
― Spottie, Wednesday, 29 June 2022 02:25 (one year ago) link
The prob for the mavs is that the other bad contracts they have on the books made it so Cuban can’t (won’t) spend more for a player that actually contributes. The brunson contract wouldn’t cripple them.
In return for Jalen Brunson, the Mavericks will receive lowered Luxury Tax payments and no more cap space.— MavsCBA (@CBAMavs) June 29, 2022

Didn’t think about this til I read this tweet but Brunson RJ and Randle are all lefties
To me Jalen Brunson would have had more reps, as well as much better coaching and spacing, if he stayed in Dallas. With Randle and Barrett as 2 high usage lefties wanting to attack from the right side of the floor, plus below average spacing, he'd max his potential more in DAL— Nate Duncan (@NateDuncanNBA) June 29, 2022

thats not bad, anytime you can get a rotation vet for less than MLE its good
also taurean went to hs where my brother used to be a teacher, tho i think my brother didnt start teaching there til a couple years after he graduated
― terence trent d'ilfer (m bison), Wednesday, 29 June 2022 04:40 (one year ago) link
the hardaway jr contract is prob regrettable. i just think that when your entire team is shooters and rim runners/stretch bigs you should be able to find another guard who can score and play back up point for you for less than $29 million a year. dinwiddie went from shooting 37/31 on the wizards to 50/40 on the mavs. their system is very friendly to ball handlers. i think they do need to replace brunson because having two scoring guards to go w/ luka was a big thing in their post-deadline surge but even if it's not until the next deadline i think they'll be able to figure something out. i just find it hard to believe that we're gonna be sitting here this time next year like, well the mavs let jalen brunson walk and it all went to shit
― J0rdan S., Wednesday, 29 June 2022 05:06 (one year ago) link
also like, nobody thinks this is a good contract right? is anyone wishing their team was the ones getting the $30 million jalen brunson contract? i feel like teams more often screw up by saying "well we can't lose him for nothing!" (tim hardaway jr) than just letting the guy walk and figuring it out from there
― J0rdan S., Wednesday, 29 June 2022 05:08 (one year ago) link
We already have the Dlo contract so I'm good
― Blues Guitar Solo Heatmap (Free Download) (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Wednesday, 29 June 2022 05:32 (one year ago) link
They have luka so they’ll be fine but what means do they have to get another ball handler?
― Spottie, Wednesday, 29 June 2022 06:35 (one year ago) link
dinwiddie will pick up some of the slack, it wouldn’t be a shock if he was in the top 5 of sixth man of the year voting. i think there will be guys floating around out there for them to look at. rubio, bledsoe, schroeder all come to mind. aaron holiday. none of those guys are as good as brunson or particularly exciting but how much of his production can you replace for a fraction of the salary? dinwiddie basically fell off the back of a truck for them and was really solid. the new front office has made two pretty shrewd trades already. ppl love to be in a constant state of panic about the mavs for whatever reason but the foundation of what they’re doing seems pretty solid to me
― J0rdan S., Wednesday, 29 June 2022 07:03 (one year ago) link
dragic would be a decent pick up for them. not sure how reliable any of those guys would be in second round playoff games and beyond but not sure brunson was necessarily a major solution there either especially at close to $30 million. as far as the regular season goes i think they can patch it together. wood and hardaway jr will help juice the offense as well… maybe they give a little back on defense. imo they’ll be right in that 3/4/5/6 mix again and once the playoffs come luka will be putting them on his back. i don’t think their outlook has substantially changed. maybe i’m wrong
― J0rdan S., Wednesday, 29 June 2022 07:17 (one year ago) link
dragic will probably play for the mavs (via slovenian tampering) but he is mega cooked.
brunsons abscence will be felt, hard to say exactly how much because his playoff success was quite matchup dependent, but i dont think you can replace his production by committee.

yes. the big homie was trying to compare him to jokic. i was like, sure if you take away jokic's passing, dribbling, shot creation, fluidity, ability to move their feet, and then make him one of the worst shot blockers of anyone over 6'8", theyre pretty similar
― terence trent d'ilfer (m bison), Wednesday, 29 June 2022 14:09 (one year ago) link
lol yeah, he was a usage sink, no passing ability to speak of. and he was probably the worst defender in high-major ball
