brunsons dad would fit right in the mavs org. hes their type

micah, Tuesday, 28 June 2022 23:00 (four years ago)

UMS i think it’s the latter. he’s never going to make an all star team.

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 28 June 2022 23:02 (four years ago)

I would feel a lot better about that Tucker contract if it were two years. I've got a feeling we're going to find out he's cooked a month into the second year.

Am I doomposting? I would say you’re not doomposting enough. (PBKR), Tuesday, 28 June 2022 23:06 (four years ago)

yeah brunson will probably be a borderline all star guy. he's probably best suited as a 6th man, or as a 3rd option on a good team? hes real crafty and seems to be an elite pnr guard. but hes short and not great on defense. will be interesting to see what he does with a higher usage rate, no luka to play next to, and way less shooting around him.

Spottie, Tuesday, 28 June 2022 23:07 (four years ago)

thx dudes I was wondering that...a lot of this off-season has "well we gotta do something" vibes

Blues Guitar Solo Heatmap (Free Download) (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Tuesday, 28 June 2022 23:08 (four years ago)

yeah its just the knicks

lag∞n, Tuesday, 28 June 2022 23:09 (four years ago)

he'll also be 26 soon so hard to see him making another leap. per 36 the last two years he's been about 18/5/5 the scoring will prob increase a bit but the shooting percentages will drop

Spottie, Tuesday, 28 June 2022 23:11 (four years ago)

they are desperate for a real pg at this point

ciderpress, Tuesday, 28 June 2022 23:11 (four years ago)

he was a good fit on the mavs, and there was still room for a bigger role, this was a poor decision

lag∞n, Tuesday, 28 June 2022 23:12 (four years ago)

tho i havent heard if the mavs were willing to give him nearly the same contract, understandable if they werent, but still now they cant replace him

lag∞n, Tuesday, 28 June 2022 23:13 (four years ago)

yeah he was a great fit for the mavs

Spottie, Tuesday, 28 June 2022 23:23 (four years ago)

offseasons like this really fuck some teams up bc they need to make a splash and then they're just saddled with overpriced contracts for mediocre aging guys

Clay, Tuesday, 28 June 2022 23:31 (four years ago)

the mavs did screw the brunson thing up by not signing him to a deal in the $50 million range when they had the chance, but at least they're willing to walk away and not give him a crippling contract.

i think they will mostly be fine. brunson is a good player but he was also playing in a system that is designed entirely around the lead ball handler. you couldn't do much more to put a player like him in a position to succeed (and probably overperform) than to slide him into the spot normally reserved for luka and/or playing off luka. he still has to be good enough to take advantage of it, and he's def a nifty player who can score. but i bet we'll find out both when he gets on the knicks and when the mavs find a replacement for him that he was, in effect, a system player. the mavs will have to get creative to replace him but at the end of the day we're talking about a second round pick who was a back up point guard, good franchises shouldn't get brought to their knees buy a guy like that walking away.

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 29 June 2022 00:14 (four years ago)

and i guess a sign and trade is a possibility. if the mavs did something like brunson for derrick rose, alec burks and a protected first i don't think they'd be much worse

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 29 June 2022 00:15 (four years ago)

Haha

Spottie, Wednesday, 29 June 2022 01:23 (four years ago)

The Knicks are trading center Nerlens Noel and guard Alec Burks to the Pistons, sources tell ESPN. The Knicks will unload $19M more in salary, clearing the way for cap space to try and sign free agent guard Jalen Brunson.

— Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) June 29, 2022

so mavs are just gonna let brunson bounce and/or knicks declined to sign and trade. hard to imagine the pistons are in on ayton now with the noel/duren/stewart combo

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 29 June 2022 01:46 (four years ago)

These middling ass teams stay middling

Spottie, Wednesday, 29 June 2022 01:52 (four years ago)

depressed that nothing interesting is going to happen this summer

Clay, Wednesday, 29 June 2022 01:54 (four years ago)

yeah kyrie and kd shaking loose wouldve been crazy

lag∞n, Wednesday, 29 June 2022 01:55 (four years ago)

think they couldve done better than this with that cap space

New York will send Detroit back its 2023 second-round pick, a 2024 second-round pick via Miami and $6 million, sources tell ESPN.

— Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) June 29, 2022

lag∞n, Wednesday, 29 June 2022 01:57 (four years ago)

Detroit is eager to utilize center Nerlens Noel and guards Alec Burks next season. GM Troy Weaver had Noel on his team in Oklahoma City, and Burks is an ideal veteran to mentor the Pistons talented young group of guards.

— Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) June 29, 2022

lol love the beat sweetening tweets

lag∞n, Wednesday, 29 June 2022 02:03 (four years ago)

maybe i will tweet @ kd and tell him to change teams just to keep things interesting

Clay, Wednesday, 29 June 2022 02:04 (four years ago)

woj has really been over the top wrt to troy weaver especially lately

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 29 June 2022 02:05 (four years ago)

hi kd ever think about changing teams (if you dont your a bitch haha)

lag∞n, Wednesday, 29 June 2022 02:06 (four years ago)

Tremendous coup for Detroit GM Troy Weaver to land two of his top targets in this draft: Jaden Ivey and Jalen Duren -- with the cost of only a future first-round pick.

— Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) June 24, 2022

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 29 June 2022 02:06 (four years ago)

lol it was a very nice draft for them but tremendous coup might be a little strong

lag∞n, Wednesday, 29 June 2022 02:07 (four years ago)

troy weaver violently overthrew the governance of the NBA by drafting jalen duren

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 29 June 2022 02:09 (four years ago)

where was troy weaver on jan 6 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

terence trent d'ilfer (m bison), Wednesday, 29 June 2022 02:11 (four years ago)

it's boring but i'm fine with the pistons being patient. they will have rookies and second-year players they're trying to develop so winning now isn't really in the cards.

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 29 June 2022 02:22 (four years ago)

Yah they just gotta build around cades timeline

Spottie, Wednesday, 29 June 2022 02:25 (four years ago)

The prob for the mavs is that the other bad contracts they have on the books made it so Cuban can’t (won’t) spend more for a player that actually contributes. The brunson contract wouldn’t cripple them.

In return for Jalen Brunson, the Mavericks will receive lowered Luxury Tax payments and no more cap space.

— MavsCBA (@CBAMavs) June 29, 2022

Spottie, Wednesday, 29 June 2022 04:19 (four years ago)

Haynes is saying 4/110 now for Brunson

Spottie, Wednesday, 29 June 2022 04:22 (four years ago)

that’s too much for jalen brunson

Clay, Wednesday, 29 June 2022 04:26 (four years ago)

Happy about this, he played some good minutes for the pups last year

Blues Guitar Solo Heatmap (Free Download) (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Wednesday, 29 June 2022 04:27 (four years ago)

Didn’t think about this til I read this tweet but Brunson RJ and Randle are all lefties

To me Jalen Brunson would have had more reps, as well as much better coaching and spacing, if he stayed in Dallas. With Randle and Barrett as 2 high usage lefties wanting to attack from the right side of the floor, plus below average spacing, he'd max his potential more in DAL

Spottie, Wednesday, 29 June 2022 04:32 (four years ago)

xpost I forgot to include the mega wojbomb that the Wolves resigned Taurean Prince for 2/16

Blues Guitar Solo Heatmap (Free Download) (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Wednesday, 29 June 2022 04:34 (four years ago)

thats not bad, anytime you can get a rotation vet for less than MLE its good

also taurean went to hs where my brother used to be a teacher, tho i think my brother didnt start teaching there til a couple years after he graduated

terence trent d'ilfer (m bison), Wednesday, 29 June 2022 04:40 (four years ago)

The prob for the mavs is that the other bad contracts they have on the books made it so Cuban can’t (won’t) spend more for a player that actually contributes. The brunson contract wouldn’t cripple them.

the hardaway jr contract is prob regrettable. i just think that when your entire team is shooters and rim runners/stretch bigs you should be able to find another guard who can score and play back up point for you for less than $29 million a year. dinwiddie went from shooting 37/31 on the wizards to 50/40 on the mavs. their system is very friendly to ball handlers. i think they do need to replace brunson because having two scoring guards to go w/ luka was a big thing in their post-deadline surge but even if it's not until the next deadline i think they'll be able to figure something out. i just find it hard to believe that we're gonna be sitting here this time next year like, well the mavs let jalen brunson walk and it all went to shit

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 29 June 2022 05:06 (four years ago)

also like, nobody thinks this is a good contract right? is anyone wishing their team was the ones getting the $30 million jalen brunson contract? i feel like teams more often screw up by saying "well we can't lose him for nothing!" (tim hardaway jr) than just letting the guy walk and figuring it out from there

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 29 June 2022 05:08 (four years ago)

We already have the Dlo contract so I'm good

Blues Guitar Solo Heatmap (Free Download) (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Wednesday, 29 June 2022 05:32 (four years ago)

They have luka so they’ll be fine but what means do they have to get another ball handler?

It’s too much yah. I’m just skeptical they can figure it out from here

Spottie, Wednesday, 29 June 2022 06:35 (four years ago)

dinwiddie will pick up some of the slack, it wouldn’t be a shock if he was in the top 5 of sixth man of the year voting. i think there will be guys floating around out there for them to look at. rubio, bledsoe, schroeder all come to mind. aaron holiday. none of those guys are as good as brunson or particularly exciting but how much of his production can you replace for a fraction of the salary? dinwiddie basically fell off the back of a truck for them and was really solid. the new front office has made two pretty shrewd trades already. ppl love to be in a constant state of panic about the mavs for whatever reason but the foundation of what they’re doing seems pretty solid to me

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 29 June 2022 07:03 (four years ago)

dragic would be a decent pick up for them. not sure how reliable any of those guys would be in second round playoff games and beyond but not sure brunson was necessarily a major solution there either especially at close to $30 million. as far as the regular season goes i think they can patch it together. wood and hardaway jr will help juice the offense as well… maybe they give a little back on defense. imo they’ll be right in that 3/4/5/6 mix again and once the playoffs come luka will be putting them on his back. i don’t think their outlook has substantially changed. maybe i’m wrong

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 29 June 2022 07:17 (four years ago)

dragic will probably play for the mavs (via slovenian tampering) but he is mega cooked.

brunsons abscence will be felt, hard to say exactly how much because his playoff success was quite matchup dependent, but i dont think you can replace his production by committee.

micah, Wednesday, 29 June 2022 10:57 (four years ago)

Diallo - picked up

farewell luka garza ncaa player of the year

lag∞n, Wednesday, 29 June 2022 12:09 (four years ago)

lmao i remember arguing w someone on twitter last year abt how luka garza shd not be a 1RP and he was like "but he was so good in college!!" i know the internet is full of armchair gm's (ie us) but there really is a gap in knowledge of hoops in the fan world

terence trent d'ilfer (m bison), Wednesday, 29 June 2022 13:49 (four years ago)

he was good in college. at offense.

in places all over the world, real stuff be happening (voodoo chili), Wednesday, 29 June 2022 14:01 (four years ago)

yes. the big homie was trying to compare him to jokic. i was like, sure if you take away jokic's passing, dribbling, shot creation, fluidity, ability to move their feet, and then make him one of the worst shot blockers of anyone over 6'8", theyre pretty similar

terence trent d'ilfer (m bison), Wednesday, 29 June 2022 14:09 (four years ago)
