they should at least try it once. they immediately tried to buy a team after moving there and then when that failed they were bad for a few years and then tried again

ciderpress, Monday, 27 June 2022 19:07 (four years ago)

yeah i dont disagree on principle its just the right thing to do

lag∞n, Monday, 27 June 2022 19:12 (four years ago)

but imo thy kinda fucked themselves by moving to ny calling themselves brooklyn and not changing the name the nets, their whole thing is contrived and lame while theyre competing against a team thats one of the most new yorky institutions, they tried to be cool and sleek play one million jayz songs and yell where brooklyn, but what new yorkers really want is shitty old timey stuff

lag∞n, Monday, 27 June 2022 19:16 (four years ago)

fuckin spec house looking gray court

lag∞n, Monday, 27 June 2022 19:18 (four years ago)

their arena has seats that are actually comfortable though

ciderpress, Monday, 27 June 2022 19:19 (four years ago)

this is the second most important thing after having a watchable team

ciderpress, Monday, 27 June 2022 19:19 (four years ago)

def the worst part of the entire thing is all the gray why is everything gray

Clay, Monday, 27 June 2022 19:21 (four years ago)

the color scheme is lame theres too many repeat color schemes in the NBA let the spurs have the monochrome and do something else

ciderpress, Monday, 27 June 2022 19:22 (four years ago)

I called 3:45 PM today for Fizdale’s firing in typical Knicks Friday news dump fashion. Was just slightly off.

they should have been renamed the brooklyn dodges and made a whole marketing thing about being ram tough

mookieproof, Monday, 27 June 2022 19:28 (four years ago)

nets should move to vegas

Spottie, Monday, 27 June 2022 19:30 (four years ago)

they already luv 2 gamble, makes sense

terence trent d'ilfer (m bison), Monday, 27 June 2022 19:31 (four years ago)

they should rename to the giants to increase the cross-sport confusion on that name

ciderpress, Monday, 27 June 2022 19:33 (four years ago)

is the trae young + dejounte murray combo doing anything for us? i can’t get a handle on it

J0rdan S., Monday, 27 June 2022 19:34 (four years ago)

that doesnt make sense at all to me but whatever they want

ciderpress, Monday, 27 June 2022 19:35 (four years ago)

i think a trae, murray, hunter, okongwu and capela starting 5 could be good defensively

Heez, Monday, 27 June 2022 19:36 (four years ago)

plus great on offense

Heez, Monday, 27 June 2022 19:37 (four years ago)

i think the idea of a strong defensive guard next to trae makes all the sense in the world but i wouldn't pay a premium for murray who will lose a lot of his value playing off trae

call all destroyer, Monday, 27 June 2022 19:37 (four years ago)

didn't he average like 8 rebounds a game? can't see that dropping off

Heez, Monday, 27 June 2022 19:38 (four years ago)

i feel like it makes sense in theory, ok second ball handler, better defensive guard. this all makes sense. but then i’m like, are they really getting that much better? they still have zero wing players outside of hunter who may not be much himself

J0rdan S., Monday, 27 June 2022 19:39 (four years ago)

xp the 9 assists a game will tho

call all destroyer, Monday, 27 June 2022 19:39 (four years ago)

yeah true, but it also solves the back up PG role which has been dire

Heez, Monday, 27 June 2022 19:40 (four years ago)

the hawks desperately needed someone besides trae who can make a play and now they have that and dejounte is big enough to play the 2 and is a good defender, whether trae can break a lot of his bad habits around being a guy who just always has the ball and does nothing else will prob determine whether it works as well as possible

lag∞n, Monday, 27 June 2022 19:41 (four years ago)

*if it happens lol

lag∞n, Monday, 27 June 2022 19:41 (four years ago)

immediately went to espn.com

Heez, Monday, 27 June 2022 19:42 (four years ago)

haa sry

lag∞n, Monday, 27 June 2022 19:42 (four years ago)

dejounte shooting 33% on threes would have me worried about playing him off trae but i guess you just hope he does a lot of secondary playmaking

call all destroyer, Monday, 27 June 2022 19:43 (four years ago)

trying to think of any other way the hawks improve their roster this year honestly unless durant wants to come

Heez, Monday, 27 June 2022 19:48 (four years ago)

would trae be willing to play off ball?

Spottie, Monday, 27 June 2022 19:48 (four years ago)

he would need to learn how lol. i get frustrated watch steph move off the ball bc trae tends to just stand there

Heez, Monday, 27 June 2022 19:49 (four years ago)

none of the steph disciples actually want to play like him

Spottie, Monday, 27 June 2022 19:55 (four years ago)

shoot from half court check, move off ball ehh, play defense bro what

lag∞n, Monday, 27 June 2022 19:56 (four years ago)

running is hard on your knees, swag is forever, i get it

terence trent d'ilfer (m bison), Monday, 27 June 2022 19:59 (four years ago)

reading the james jones / suns piece and it really seems like they are just overthinking things, trying to be cute with it.

like... who cares about these weird semantic points?

In Phoenix, the word "potential" is strictly verboten. "We're not allowed to talk about 'potential,'" says Ryan Resch, the Suns' vice president of basketball strategy and evaluation. "We say 'capacity' instead of 'potential,' because capacity forces you to recognize what the player can actually do today and what he is capable of doing tomorrow."

congrats on wanting to sign free agents that help your team?

Jones and his staff insist they're interested in "players, not prospects." The Suns say they apply the same criteria used to determine the value of a prospective free agent to the draft. If the player can contribute immediately, and if his skill set can fill an explicit role in Williams' system for the upcoming season, he's worth considering. If neither of those measures can be met, he's not for Phoenix.

maybe just dont say this out loud???

He even confesses that, had he been at the helm in 2015, he probably would have passed on Booker.

"It all depends on what your goal is," Jones says. "Devin is great, but there are 50 skeletons tied to that swing for the star. It wasn't until winning was imported -- Chris, Jae Crowder, drafting a three-year guy who could help right away like Mikal -- that it translated to success. And if you don't import winning around him, there are even more skeletons. So if you want to find the guy with the highest potential to be the future star, then it makes sense to draft him -- if you're willing to navigate the land mines."

Spottie, Monday, 27 June 2022 20:04 (four years ago)

i may have read that second quote wrong

Spottie, Monday, 27 June 2022 20:06 (four years ago)

I read it that he is dissing Booker.

Am I doomposting? I would say you’re not doomposting enough. (PBKR), Monday, 27 June 2022 20:08 (four years ago)

welcome to the suns: no one ever gets better

terence trent d'ilfer (m bison), Monday, 27 June 2022 20:12 (four years ago)

you am what you am

Spottie, Monday, 27 June 2022 20:26 (four years ago)

guess we know jones' answer to "do u go back in time to kill baby hitler"

terence trent d'ilfer (m bison), Monday, 27 June 2022 20:28 (four years ago)

it's crazy bcuz they nailed the cam johnson pick but getting the first one right w/ this wacky system might unintentionally set them back 5+ years

J0rdan S., Monday, 27 June 2022 20:32 (four years ago)

idk cam johnsons not really that good imho

lag∞n, Monday, 27 June 2022 20:34 (four years ago)

if you look at who was taken after him it was a pretty great pick

J0rdan S., Monday, 27 June 2022 20:36 (four years ago)

he was coming on strong near the end of the season then got a hammy/quad injury and pretty much was worthless after that.

Spottie, Monday, 27 June 2022 20:37 (four years ago)

hes not a star obv but hes a fine rotation player

Spottie, Monday, 27 June 2022 20:39 (four years ago)

i wonder if ben simmons is thinking to himself 'maybe i shoulda played a little'

Spottie, Monday, 27 June 2022 20:53 (four years ago)

nah. simmo the savage doesn't blame himself for anything.

more difficult than I look (Aimless), Monday, 27 June 2022 20:58 (four years ago)

he seems like he should be a solid 3 and d guy but watching him in the offs this year made me think he might be closer to just 3

lag∞n, Monday, 27 June 2022 22:20 (four years ago)

he had a bad offs yes

Spottie, Monday, 27 June 2022 22:31 (four years ago)

watching him try to guard luka was rough he couldnt do it even a little bit couldnt get low move his feet withstand the physicality any of it, obvs thats one of the toughest covers in the league but they really needed him to pitch in and he just couldnt

lag∞n, Monday, 27 June 2022 22:35 (four years ago)
