if a team wants to trade a jrue holiday like package for a player who is worse than jrue holiday that is one thing. i really have no idea why the spurs would want john collins tho. he’s a good player but what is he doing for the spurs in particular, i do not understand

worth noting too that the bucks gave up more than one typically would for a player of jrue holidays caliber

I'd be cool with the hawks trading anyone other than Trae, Okongwu or Hunter

however much like holiday did with the bucks murray could put the celtics over the top, basically a perfect fit and hes the same age as the celtics core ie young

idk they might just be looking at their roster and thinking more rebuilding is better than getting stuck in the middle, but theyre prob not really looking to move him teams are calling and theyre like yeah give us crazy value and of course well think about it

westbrook and simmons are such a cosmically bad fit i feel like they must have already played together

tbh anytime you hear rumors abt the spurs, its coming from the other team. i think atl is trying to create a market for jc and keep rumors that theyre targeting a young all-star for him. i dont think the spurs are that interested in trading dejounte.

spurs have basically 3 paths:
1. trade dejounte for a godfather presti offer and get their under-23 players (and there are a lot of them, and theyre all 6'5") all the run they want while they keep building through the draft for the next few years
2. make a run at ayton with a max offer s&t with the suns and add a another FA or two and try to become a playoff team now
3. maintain status quo, play it conservative and commit to methodical grinding mediocrity

i think ayton has untapped lead scorer potential, and if he learns how to sleep like a normal adult, he could be a top 3 center, so im hoping for 2, will settle for 1, dreading 3

its pretty funny how sam presti has all the draft picks and can easily make a trade that would kneecap any other franchise

tell simmons youll trade him if he plays good for a half a season and call it a day

theme for the 2020's definitely feels like "the death drive", nets FO is on trend

the backdrop to this is apparently that joe tasi isn't happy with the team's performance on the business side

maybe they should try building a team from scratch to cultivate an actual fanbase

consider locating their team in a place that doesnt have a team

i think if they put together something better than the knicks organically then they will get people on board, and thats a pretty low bar

lol spurs love trading for washed euros on the end of the career that wouldve thrived on their team in their prime and then cutting them, can see it

they should at least try it once. they immediately tried to buy a team after moving there and then when that failed they were bad for a few years and then tried again

yeah i dont disagree on principle its just the right thing to do

but imo thy kinda fucked themselves by moving to ny calling themselves brooklyn and not changing the name the nets, their whole thing is contrived and lame while theyre competing against a team thats one of the most new yorky institutions, they tried to be cool and sleek play one million jayz songs and yell where brooklyn, but what new yorkers really want is shitty old timey stuff

i think a trae, murray, hunter, okongwu and capela starting 5 could be good defensively

plus great on offense

i think the idea of a strong defensive guard next to trae makes all the sense in the world but i wouldn't pay a premium for murray who will lose a lot of his value playing off trae

didn't he average like 8 rebounds a game? can't see that dropping off

i feel like it makes sense in theory, ok second ball handler, better defensive guard. this all makes sense. but then i’m like, are they really getting that much better? they still have zero wing players outside of hunter who may not be much himself
