I don't understand the "cap space for retaining Bridges" claim though, can't you still go beyond the cap to re-sign your own guys?

xp yes, that is 100% management-side reporting claiming they need to move hayward to pay bridges, which they don't need to do at all.

Four months ago he could have included Thybulle instead of Curry in the Harden deal, but no . . .

wonder if there's some under the table deal here cuz one would think he could get at least 10
― frogbs, Wednesday, 22 June 2022 20:26 (three years ago)
he is one of giannis' buddies so i would suspect they have something lined up for him after this contract

this seems like the route for connaughton
One possibility to explain Connaughton -- he and Bucks eligible to sign an extension next month starting as high as ~$12M a year and going as long as 4 years; so the opt-in could be part of a bigger play here.— John Hollinger (@johnhollinger) June 22, 2022

solid trade
― brimstead, Wednesday, 22 June 2022 22:28 (three years ago)
great to get him for a bad first, i guess we’ll see what the contract is
― call all destroyer, Wednesday, 22 June 2022 22:50 (three years ago)
thinking a little more about this deal and i realized it closes the circle on the cj trade to new orleans with that bucks pick heading out, so ultimately that deal shakes out to CJ and larry nance jr for jerami grant and josh hart which is a much better deal!

The Suns don’t view Deandre Ayton as a max-level player and are very motivated to find a sign-and-trade, per @wojespn.— Evan Sidery (@esidery) June 23, 2022
― Spottie, Thursday, 23 June 2022 02:44 (three years ago)
oh cmon there's some stiff competition there. but this is a unique situation in that it seems like the Suns themselves are the ones revealing to everyone else that he's fools gold
― Lavator Shemmelpennick, Thursday, 23 June 2022 02:50 (three years ago)
hes fine hes just not worth a max.
― micah, Thursday, 23 June 2022 02:51 (three years ago)
yeah but he's got that tantalizing young big man thing that teams find irresistible. they surely could have kept their cards closer to their chest and traded him for some good stuff. now they've telegraphed to the world that they don't think he's worthy of being part of their core
― Lavator Shemmelpennick, Thursday, 23 June 2022 02:52 (three years ago)
whatever one thinks of ayton it's just really hard for me to believe that the suns know what they're doing
― call all destroyer, Thursday, 23 June 2022 02:52 (three years ago)
looking more and more like that's the case sadly. RIP suns, your vibes were exquisite
― Lavator Shemmelpennick, Thursday, 23 June 2022 02:53 (three years ago)
must be a Ben Simmons type situation brewing here because during last year's Finals I thought it was no doubt he was worth the max
― frogbs, Thursday, 23 June 2022 03:00 (three years ago)
the suns front office is not to be trusted but the fact that they’ve gotten an up close view at him and are like “yeah we’re good” would definitely concern me. he did pose for a whole story about how he sleeps 2 hours per night so he can get higher scores on 2K so there might be something there…
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 23 June 2022 03:05 (three years ago)
i think he got overrated in the playoffs last year… he played well against a bunch of injured teams two of whom didn’t have real big men and then he got sonned by giannis and was not a factor in the mavs series this year. i think there’s a bunch of teams who could defensibly max him but it’s also totally reasonable to say the suns could trade him and change their roster and get better
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 23 June 2022 03:08 (three years ago)
― Spottie, Thursday, 23 June 2022 03:14 (three years ago)
there's definitely something there with the offcourt stuff and he was definitely overrated after last years playoffs. but i guess my approach would be to try to work with him rather than make it clear to the entire league that i was done with him? he doesn't get hurt, he's good at a lot of different things, and he's statistically productive. i'm not sure i see the sign and trade that makes them better and i don't really have confidence that their front office will go out and find it. are his flaws really so fatal that the right position is to move on from him no matter what? i'm not sure i see that.
― call all destroyer, Thursday, 23 June 2022 03:17 (three years ago)
Rumors that book and the coach hate him so if that’s true then idk what they can do
― Spottie, Thursday, 23 June 2022 03:26 (three years ago)
yeah that's weird....usually when a player is hated that's evinced somehow in his play on the court? i don't recall ayton being a disaster out there.
― call all destroyer, Thursday, 23 June 2022 03:30 (three years ago)
He was in the Dallas series. And kinda just ho hum all playoffs.
― Spottie, Thursday, 23 June 2022 03:44 (three years ago)
Ayton is one of the weirder talents I can remember. Like there’s just something missing.
― Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 23 June 2022 04:07 (three years ago)
i don't think moving on from ayton no matter what is the suns choice. they might be happy to keep him for the right $. but ayton is telling them it is max or nothing so a sign and trade is their best option. i wouldnt want to be the team that maxes ayton.
sure they could have drafted someone else (cant think if who) but that ship has sailed
― micah, Thursday, 23 June 2022 05:07 (three years ago)
wonder what theyre going to do when detroit maxs out ayton

lotta chatter that houston is trying to move up to no 1 to grab paolo bc okc might take him instead of chet. i feel like presti is the best at getting teams nervous.
― terence trent d'ilfer (m bison), Thursday, 23 June 2022 12:52 (three years ago)
feels weird to see all this chatter about betting markets for something that is just an organization's choice. i'm sure betting on the draft has happened in the past, but i don't remember seeing much about it in previous years.
