Raptors coach Nick Nurse says Scottie Barnes will not play tonight, Gary Trent remains doubtful and Thaddeus Young is “probably doubtful,” but is going to try to work with the training staff to get his sprained thumb in a place where he can play.

kyrie doing the cry baby thing was really funny. just an all time performance from him yesterday on two levels

J0rdan S., Monday, 18 April 2022 16:25 (four years ago)

if he had just ~kept that energy~ in the press conference instead of being all embrace the dark side i wouldve had no choice but to tip my cap

lag∞n, Monday, 18 April 2022 16:30 (four years ago)

yeah his press conference didn’t flatter him i’ll say that. man he must’ve been so mad that they lost

J0rdan S., Monday, 18 April 2022 16:32 (four years ago)

tonight might be ugly again for them but i wanna see what the raptors-sixers series is looking like after the two games in toronto

J0rdan S., Monday, 18 April 2022 16:33 (four years ago)

yeah thats a real tough loss xp

lag∞n, Monday, 18 April 2022 16:34 (four years ago)

Nets last two playoff games featured otherworldly performances negated by the smallest of margins, I can see why that would be frustrating

frogbs, Monday, 18 April 2022 16:40 (four years ago)

that was for sure one of the best games ive ever seen. kinda too bad it was only game one lol. kyrie took all the momentum but the celts wrangled it back somehow. still cant believe smart didnt shoot the step in pull-up, wouldve been a really great shot as well. celts defense on durant was solid, forcing him into his older turnover-prone weaknesses.

seems like a structural problem

Oh I see the Celtics went full 2014 Grizz against KD. pic.twitter.com/N4js859iw4

— Steve Jones Jr. (@stevejones20) April 18, 2022

was watching some of these clips on how the celtics defended KD and i wonder if the nets will get in the league’s ear about all this off the ball stuff and the whistles will be tighter on him in game 2

J0rdan S., Monday, 18 April 2022 16:47 (four years ago)

not like we could have any more fouls called than we did in game 1 but the refs could easily just decide to nip a lot of this off the ball stuff if they wanted to. curious to see what happens

J0rdan S., Monday, 18 April 2022 16:49 (four years ago)

thats the playoff whistle everyone has to deal with it

jammin on the dud (Spottie), Monday, 18 April 2022 16:53 (four years ago)

yeah kd also just didnt have much bounce having to carry the team all year playing 40mins a/g the last month injury history age and so forth maybe catching up with him a little then he gets all that physical play just to get a catch and its tough

lag∞n, Monday, 18 April 2022 17:00 (four years ago)

also feel like he might be getting a little predictable just going to that elbow jumper every time, nets should try to mix up his looks a little more run him off different actions etc

lag∞n, Monday, 18 April 2022 17:01 (four years ago)

nets dont really run offense tho so who knows lol

lag∞n, Monday, 18 April 2022 17:02 (four years ago)

def a lot of your turn my turn action with a few sets thrown in occasion

jammin on the dud (Spottie), Monday, 18 April 2022 17:03 (four years ago)

i'm sure KD will go off in a few games but it also wouldn't surprise me if kyrie just had better luck in this series given boston's personnel. they have a lot of bigger wing & mobile big types to throw at KD, there's not a lot of mismatch hunting for him to do. but i think kyrie showed yesterday that him being smaller and quicker gives him an advantage against a lot of those guys in one on one situations.... which is also why i found it weird that at the end of the game the nets seemed content to let smart guard him w/o trying to switch him onto one of the bigger guys that he can just blow past

J0rdan S., Monday, 18 April 2022 17:22 (four years ago)

yeah that was poor execution

lag∞n, Monday, 18 April 2022 17:23 (four years ago)

still cant believe smart didnt shoot the step in pull-up, wouldve been a really great shot as well.

honestly feel like it probably would've gotten blocked

frogbs, Monday, 18 April 2022 17:30 (four years ago)

he was wide open once he stepped through the two guys flying by

jammin on the dud (Spottie), Monday, 18 April 2022 17:36 (four years ago)

jaylen had a shot too tough one but its also one of his shots

lag∞n, Monday, 18 April 2022 17:40 (four years ago)

even tho he’s possibly the most annoying basketball player of all time you gotta tip your hat to smart, didn’t panic in a scramble situation and got his team a shot with like a 97% chance of going in with 1 second left. just an amazing play

J0rdan S., Monday, 18 April 2022 17:47 (four years ago)

Game 1 of the Brooklyn vs. Boston series was so exciting I can only imagine what the next 6 games will look like! The game came down to a layup by Jayson Tatum who finished with 31 points.

ciderpress, Monday, 18 April 2022 17:57 (four years ago)

for such a chaotic final possession to end with a smooth spin into a wide open layup was just beautiful to behold.

jammin on the dud (Spottie), Monday, 18 April 2022 18:00 (four years ago)

even tho he’s possibly the coolest basketball player of all time you gotta tip your hat to smart

J0rdan S., Monday, 18 April 2022 18:14 (four years ago)

the game that was decided by one point contained a play where the nets forgot to inbound the ball lol, of course marcus was on it

you know what basketball pundit thing drives me crazy is the idea that "the team with the best player wins the series" its first of all just so lazy and cowardly they say it cause they dont want to be bothered to figure out who will win and its defensible because their friends all doing it, its obvs ahistoric the best player loses all the time heat lost a gdamn finals in which they had the two best players, its often tautological theyll just decide someone else was better if they win like no doubt if the celtics win then tatum will be the best player even tho kd was better before the series started which kind of undercuts the predictive power of the system, but maybe worst of all is its just baby brained like of course having the best player is an advantage in basketball only like eight guys play for each team but you still have to figure out who is going to win the series by understanding basketball generally, youtube served be a clip of the jj redick podcast talking about celtics nets and his little friend was like "you know im a best player wins guy" and i just turned if off bro your job is to know things about basketball cmon

lag∞n, Monday, 18 April 2022 23:02 (four years ago)

watched a clip of jalen and jacoby and they, who both picked the lakers to win before the season btw, were both like cant pick against kd in the first round man, what are they talking about the nets are the 7th seed theyre playing a good team in the first round this shit is so low qual

lag∞n, Monday, 18 April 2022 23:06 (four years ago)

has kd not lost a playoff series before is he undefeated in the playoffs

lag∞n, Monday, 18 April 2022 23:07 (four years ago)

and finally im resentful that youtube has tricked me into watching bad panel shows and podcasts

lag∞n, Monday, 18 April 2022 23:08 (four years ago)

on the other hand

lag∞n, Monday, 18 April 2022 23:08 (four years ago)

dearest haters,

Boston Celtics guard Marcus Smart has won the 2021-22 NBA Defensive Player of the Year award.

— Shams Charania (@ShamsCharania) April 18, 2022

lag∞n, Monday, 18 April 2022 23:09 (four years ago)

best player wins the series seems like some ultimate bill simmons shit that trickled down into garbo conventional wisdom

Clay, Monday, 18 April 2022 23:12 (four years ago)

btw your man just had “minor” lung surgery and you know what that means that’s right it’s drugged out “bball” all the way for a week baby

Clay, Monday, 18 April 2022 23:14 (four years ago)

i think "the best player in the series always wins" when the best player in the series was michael jordan

J0rdan S., Monday, 18 April 2022 23:14 (four years ago)

Marcus Smart is a fine defensive player - the idea that he is the DPOY is absurd tho.

— Haralabos Voulgaris (@haralabob) April 18, 2022

I get that the voters like to be creative and think they are smarter than the average fan but this is such a comical selection.

J0rdan S., Monday, 18 April 2022 23:17 (four years ago)

bob wrong as usual

lag∞n, Monday, 18 April 2022 23:19 (four years ago)

i mean if you want to talk about how big men are more valuable fine but if you were prefer to talk about about who is good at defense marcus smart is absolutely a totally elite defender
