lag∞n, Monday, 18 April 2022 01:02 (two years ago) link

Bucks really are playing some awesome defense out there

frogbs, Monday, 18 April 2022 01:02 (two years ago) link

But yeah that reminded me a lot of Game 1 vs. the Heat last year, and we all know what happened after that

frogbs, Monday, 18 April 2022 01:04 (two years ago) link

idk bucks might be bad

lag∞n, Monday, 18 April 2022 01:05 (two years ago) link

It’s really kinda hard to tell right now

frogbs, Monday, 18 April 2022 01:06 (two years ago) link

bull were out there hustling tip o the cap to them when the celtics played them a couple weeks ago they seemed extremely ready to go on vacation

lag∞n, Monday, 18 April 2022 01:08 (two years ago) link

lag∞n, Monday, 18 April 2022 01:16 (two years ago) link

yeah it's a nice subplot of this series. they both seem like great guys.

no sunday afternoon games w/a one-year-old so i missed the good stuff today :(

call all destroyer, Monday, 18 April 2022 01:22 (two years ago) link

one year old is the perfect age to become interested in the nba playoffs imo

lag∞n, Monday, 18 April 2022 01:24 (two years ago) link

she will be fascinated by the playoffs and definitely not crawl directly off the couch

call all destroyer, Monday, 18 April 2022 01:31 (two years ago) link

I mean it’s a bunch of guys running around and throwing a ball to each other, you try to design a better show for a one-year old

frogbs, Monday, 18 April 2022 01:32 (two years ago) link

celtics sold out on kd and defended kyrie straight up, the kd part worked

"They did a good job of forcing me away, helping in the paint, I just gotta be more fundamental on my moves,... I played fast, turned the ball [over] ...gotta slow down and play my game. But they did a good job of making me see bodies."

salute to javale mcgee who became a solid rotation player in his early 30s

lag∞n, Monday, 18 April 2022 01:55 (two years ago) link

in fairness i too got a lot more professional in my early 30s

call all destroyer, Monday, 18 April 2022 01:59 (two years ago) link

fair

lag∞n, Monday, 18 April 2022 02:07 (two years ago) link

congrats to chris paul on making it thru the first game of the playoffs without suffering a grievous injury!

J0rdan S., Monday, 18 April 2022 03:43 (two years ago) link

xp singlehandedly turning javale and biyombo into solid rotation players on the best team in the NBA quietly has to be somewhere on the chris paul career highlights list

But the dubs and lakers did it before. He’s been a good teammate and solid situational rotation guy for a handful of years now.

kyrie has huge logan roy energy

Tracer Hand, Monday, 18 April 2022 11:04 (two years ago) link

lol sorry not logan, i mean kendall. kendall roy.

“Embrace it. Just the dark side. Embrace it,” Irving said.

this was pretty funny tbf

lag∞n, Monday, 18 April 2022 11:32 (two years ago) link

would say that if being called a bitch bothers kyrie so much its prob better to not let the people doing that know but it didnt really seem to detract from his game

Javale has been a good backup for years, man

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 18 April 2022 14:32 (two years ago) link

rip dinosaurs

Raptors coach Nick Nurse says Scottie Barnes will not play tonight, Gary Trent remains doubtful and Thaddeus Young is “probably doubtful,” but is going to try to work with the training staff to get his sprained thumb in a place where he can play.

kyrie doing the cry baby thing was really funny. just an all time performance from him yesterday on two levels

J0rdan S., Monday, 18 April 2022 16:25 (two years ago) link

if he had just ~kept that energy~ in the press conference instead of being all embrace the dark side i wouldve had no choice but to tip my cap

lag∞n, Monday, 18 April 2022 16:30 (two years ago) link

yeah his press conference didn’t flatter him i’ll say that. man he must’ve been so mad that they lost

J0rdan S., Monday, 18 April 2022 16:32 (two years ago) link

tonight might be ugly again for them but i wanna see what the raptors-sixers series is looking like after the two games in toronto

J0rdan S., Monday, 18 April 2022 16:33 (two years ago) link

yeah thats a real tough loss xp

Nets last two playoff games featured otherworldly performances negated by the smallest of margins, I can see why that would be frustrating

frogbs, Monday, 18 April 2022 16:40 (two years ago) link

that was for sure one of the best games ive ever seen. kinda too bad it was only game one lol. kyrie took all the momentum but the celts wrangled it back somehow. still cant believe smart didnt shoot the step in pull-up, wouldve been a really great shot as well. celts defense on durant was solid, forcing him into his older turnover-prone weaknesses.

seems like a structural problem

Oh I see the Celtics went full 2014 Grizz against KD. pic.twitter.com/N4js859iw4

— Steve Jones Jr. (@stevejones20) April 18, 2022

was watching some of these clips on how the celtics defended KD and i wonder if the nets will get in the league’s ear about all this off the ball stuff and the whistles will be tighter on him in game 2

J0rdan S., Monday, 18 April 2022 16:47 (two years ago) link

not like we could have any more fouls called than we did in game 1 but the refs could easily just decide to nip a lot of this off the ball stuff if they wanted to. curious to see what happens

J0rdan S., Monday, 18 April 2022 16:49 (two years ago) link

thats the playoff whistle everyone has to deal with it

jammin on the dud (Spottie), Monday, 18 April 2022 16:53 (two years ago) link

yeah kd also just didnt have much bounce having to carry the team all year playing 40mins a/g the last month injury history age and so forth maybe catching up with him a little then he gets all that physical play just to get a catch and its tough

lag∞n, Monday, 18 April 2022 17:00 (two years ago) link

also feel like he might be getting a little predictable just going to that elbow jumper every time, nets should try to mix up his looks a little more run him off different actions etc

lag∞n, Monday, 18 April 2022 17:01 (two years ago) link

nets dont really run offense tho so who knows lol

lag∞n, Monday, 18 April 2022 17:02 (two years ago) link

def a lot of your turn my turn action with a few sets thrown in occasion

jammin on the dud (Spottie), Monday, 18 April 2022 17:03 (two years ago) link

i'm sure KD will go off in a few games but it also wouldn't surprise me if kyrie just had better luck in this series given boston's personnel. they have a lot of bigger wing & mobile big types to throw at KD, there's not a lot of mismatch hunting for him to do. but i think kyrie showed yesterday that him being smaller and quicker gives him an advantage against a lot of those guys in one on one situations.... which is also why i found it weird that at the end of the game the nets seemed content to let smart guard him w/o trying to switch him onto one of the bigger guys that he can just blow past

J0rdan S., Monday, 18 April 2022 17:22 (two years ago) link

yeah that was poor execution

lag∞n, Monday, 18 April 2022 17:23 (two years ago) link

honestly feel like it probably would've gotten blocked

frogbs, Monday, 18 April 2022 17:30 (two years ago) link

he was wide open once he stepped through the two guys flying by
