idk, combination of a reasonably small sample size with not that big of a drop off, that seems like there's not much there. those #s for giannis still look pretty good to me. although i guess the mvp race is so tight there is bound to be lots of hair splitting

feel like from an understanding giannis predicting playoff performance and so forth perspective also there might be more in those numbers, if you drilled down you might be able to find where he really struggles in a way that maybe the other top guys dont, his game is maybe not quite as resilient as the others

and i would guess those numbers are statistically significant tho it would be good to see them for multiple seasons

from a playoff perspective if teams are able to bother him you could see a bigger effect than those numbers as those are just the top 3rd of defenses not particularly well prepared, and certainly when looking at the giannis era the bucks offense has often struggled in the playoffs, so i think that it all kinda makes sense, but then on the other hand the lesser version of giannis is still really good

giannis averaged 30-13-5 on 57% shooting in the playoffs last year i just have real trouble worrying about what level his production is going to be at

it's also worth noting the bucks had the best defensive rating in the playoffs last year by a full point and it has always felt to me like the question in any series they play is "how will the opponent score on them?" not "how will they score on the opponent?". the nets are the one team that kind of breaks that model simply bcuz of KD but how the bucks or any team is gonna score on the nets is equally not even a question worth asking. but if the bucks face the celtics in round 2 and/or the heat in the east finals the no 1 thing for me above anything is, can either of those teams actually score enough points to beat the bucks 4 times? any issues w/ the bucks offense, giannis etc is secondary for me

their defense has not been good this year, will be interesting to see if they can flip the switch, obvs a lot of reason to believe they can just based on having maybe the best defender in the league another elite guy and a very good guy, big question mark is prob how on point brook lopez will be after missing the whole year from back surgery, obvs if you were a fan of theirs youd rather have seen them already play good D

also obvs they have played great d before with the same main guys, but one thing we should consider is that they might be currently cursed by having grayson allen on their team

brook has looked better than i expected. adding one of the best rim protectors in the league who can also shoot threes is pretty nice

brooks had a weird career. seemed like he was done a handful of years ago but has sustained a nice role since
