big W for the heatles tonight

the jimmy-spo thing threw everyone off the scent that they got oladipo and markieff back and it screwed up the rhythm of all their rotations. they both have gotten DNP-CDs the last two games and the team has looked normal again

i thought it was a useful game for the celtics insofar as they saw some defense in the fourth quarter that they’ll prob see a lot in the playoffs where teams just decide to roll out the red carpet for white, smart, pritchard etc to shoot. their best offense tonight (besides when dedmon was on the floor allowing open highways to the basket) was tatum or smart deflecting the ball and immediately throwing it ahead in transition. tatum and brown are basically impossible to stop in those situations

heat defense is really good but celtics shouldve won that game lackluster execution on a number of levels but were still in it

you’d think max strus as scottie pippen is prob not repeatable. it was interesting that spo benched tucker for him in crunch time but they needed his shooting out there. a playoff match up would be a nice test for udoka, i think when they watch the film back aside from the missed lay ups and such they’d find more stuff they could try and do to exploit the heat’s defense with herro and strus both out there for a long final stretch if they ended up matched up in the second round

the big thing for me was that lowry has been playing this entire season at like 70% capacity but looked like the heat’s best player tonight

if he can pull one more good out that could change the math for the heat

heat went to a zone and the celtics were just not bothering to try to get middle just lazily swinging it around the perimeter they looked tired missed a bunch of usually reliable shots maybe theyre sad about robs injury

you gotta be able to punish the zone this is the nba the big time

around about the third quarter i thought maybe spo just didn’t even want to show them the zone in case they meet in the playoffs but he pushed the button at the right time, at the very least it makes it harder for teams to pick out herro every possession down

in other news austin rivers getting thrown out of the game for swinging his elbows around and not even making remote contact with the defender is the funniest moment of the NBA season for me, personally

i think on 5 occasions each season a ref should be able to eject austin rivers from a game without warning and for no reason at all. just to keep the league a bit lively, spice things up, keep everyone on their toes, add to the entertainment product

players should be allowed to eject him, fans sometimes too

there could just be a Twitter poll on nationally televised games where you vote on if he gets ejected or not

You get both teams to decide to eject a ref, to be replaced by mystery ref behind door #1 or 2. One door has a clone of Earl Strom, the other is Charo.

matt think about how much suspense would be added to nuggets games next season after austin rivers had received his fourth random ejection of the season. it would be a playoff atmosphere in the building every night with number 5 hanging out there
