having lamelo and bridges is a great place to start but yeah theres a lot of work ahead of them

lag∞n, Wednesday, 9 March 2022 01:19 (two years ago) link

i guess maybe the hope is that lamelo makes the ja leap

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 9 March 2022 01:30 (two years ago) link

i think theres a really good chance lamelo becomes a top guy

lag∞n, Wednesday, 9 March 2022 01:33 (two years ago) link

I hope so. He rules

frogbs, Wednesday, 9 March 2022 01:53 (two years ago) link

kyrie put up 50 tonight

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 9 March 2022 02:24 (two years ago) link

Kyrie Irving tonight:

50 points
15-19 FG (78%)
9-12 3-pt FG

He is the first player in NBA history to record 50 points, 9 3-pointers and 75% shooting in a game.

wow nash mad

Steve Nash if he looks forward to catching up with James Harden on Thursday: "I don't know that we'll speak."

lag∞n, Wednesday, 9 March 2022 02:42 (two years ago) link

hm doesn't seem like he's that interested in catching up with him

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 9 March 2022 02:46 (two years ago) link

feels pretty safe to say that if kyrie had just gotten vaccinated harden would still be on the nets and they would be the overwhelming championship favorites lol

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 9 March 2022 02:46 (two years ago) link

alternate timeline for sure

lag∞n, Wednesday, 9 March 2022 02:48 (two years ago) link

feels pretty safe to say

"overwhelming" might be a bit of overestimating

more difficult than I look (Aimless), Wednesday, 9 March 2022 03:29 (two years ago) link

idk hard to watch kyrie play this year and harden now that he cares is trying + KD almost singlehandedly beating the bucks and not think that that trio would be overwhelming favorites. obv a lot of things could've gone wrong -- ***obviously!!!*** -- but still

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 9 March 2022 03:54 (two years ago) link

i mean there was this line of thinking after the harden trade that the heat and bucks were losers at the deadline bcuz the sixers got better and the nets got simmons back but the best team in the east and possibly the NBA was KD/harden/kyrie even if kyrie had to play half the games in the playoffs and the elimination of that from the landscape was a huge W for the other teams in the east imo. even w/ as good as the sixers look they aren't as scary as a nets team that had KD/harden/kyrie in the playoffs

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 9 March 2022 03:56 (two years ago) link

biggest issue with that nets team was health, kyrie going anti vax prob helped him there, unfortunately it alienated harden lol

lag∞n, Wednesday, 9 March 2022 04:03 (two years ago) link

but when those three guys played together they were unstoppable, thank god they barely did

lag∞n, Wednesday, 9 March 2022 04:04 (two years ago) link

philly could def go all the way but they dont scare me the way the nets did, cause they have two guys instead of three

lag∞n, Wednesday, 9 March 2022 04:08 (two years ago) link

yeah crazy how they built one of the all-time Big 3s and we basically never got to see them

frogbs, Wednesday, 9 March 2022 04:09 (two years ago) link

not a lot of teams third best guy can hang 50 on you

lag∞n, Wednesday, 9 March 2022 04:11 (two years ago) link

Westbrook :)

frogbs, Wednesday, 9 March 2022 04:28 (two years ago) link

k3vin k., Wednesday, 9 March 2022 04:49 (two years ago) link

kinda funny that in the smallball era weve got a crazy competitive mvp race between three centers

lag∞n, Wednesday, 9 March 2022 16:39 (two years ago) link

when everyone can go small, u have an advantage when u can stay tall

class project pat (m bison), Wednesday, 9 March 2022 16:42 (two years ago) link

its true that the value of an average center has declined but if you get a good one oh boy its still good

lag∞n, Wednesday, 9 March 2022 16:43 (two years ago) link

occurs to me that none of them were born in america too, the nba is pretty cool, bunch of seven footers from all corners of the map running around dunking and so forth

lag∞n, Wednesday, 9 March 2022 21:09 (two years ago) link

my 13 yo was making the case to me today for philly going all the way. i’m very pleased our relationship has developed to this point obv. says harden will thrive in the backcourt. embiid will find him. tobias harris. thinks maxey underrated. agrees with ilh that these playoffs will be sick.

Tracer Hand, Wednesday, 9 March 2022 21:14 (two years ago) link

good analysis tracer jr

even tho they're obv in a better place as a franchise than where they were a few years ago & have some really good players on the roster, still kinda feels like the hornets are on a road to nowhere & i'm not really sure what they do to change that aside from hanging on to lamelo and bridges for dear life and waiting out this current era of the east? they felt exciting earlier in the season but it seems like they're gonna max out at getting the 8th seed and losing 4-1 in round 1 of the playoffs, at best. maybe i'm being too pessimistic about what they might look like next season if they're a bit healthier (hayward in particular) but they're not gonna have high picks & free agency is prob never gonna net them a ton, that front office is gonna need to get creative, which...

went and saw them play vs. san antonio the other night with joan crawford jr. seriously what a fun team to watch & melo's star power is really something but this feels like pretty solid analysis. I'd add Rozier & Oubre Jr to the keeper list but defensively they need a much more aggressive stance imo.

J Edgar Noothgrush (Joan Crawford Loves Chachi), Wednesday, 9 March 2022 23:07 (two years ago) link

kinda wondering if they develop kai jones in a meaningful way, i was excited about him

class project pat (m bison), Wednesday, 9 March 2022 23:09 (two years ago) link

it’s hard to win in any real way when you play defense as poorly as they do & i don’t really see much great defensive talent like waiting to be developed. maybe melo but there’s only so much he can do. bridges perhaps. they’d be a team i’d love to see trade for myles turner somehow. they need an athletic center who can play defense and still run and shoot.

J0rdan S., Thursday, 10 March 2022 00:58 (two years ago) link

yeah. I mean to me they all look like kids, and that's what's exciting about their play style -- so loose and relatable. it already feels like there's a lot of "melo will fix this" energy on the court when he's not there, and that's a recipe for a trade.

if utah falls apart again they are an interesting rudy gobert destination
