blowouts are good! doing a lot of blowouts is pretty much a thing only good teams do

lag∞n, Tuesday, 1 March 2022 18:47 (four years ago)

lol grant williams (who is having a nice game) just got the ball in the corner, but for whatever reason he was at like 18 feet instead of behind the 3-point line and you could see his brain break for a second as if it was illegal to shoot from there. luckily he bounced back with a nice dribble move for a layup.

great win after losing jaylen and committing a million fouls in the first half, sure hope he doesnt miss much time the schedule is turning pretty rough now

lag∞n, Wednesday, 2 March 2022 03:11 (four years ago)

definitely. earlier versions of this team would have just punted after that first half and instead they came out and pretty much beat the shit out of the hawks.

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 2 March 2022 03:15 (four years ago)

good sign i guess

Ime Udoka on Jaylen Brown's ankle sprain: "Rolled it & had some swelling & soreness. He tried to give it a go in the back and wanted to come back out and play. But we felt big picture, where we are in the season, just be smart."

Hope is it's not serious, team will see tomorrow.

sounds pretty minor

Celtics’ Jaylen Brown ‘unlikely’ to play against Grizzlies because of ankle sprain, still not expected to be out long-term https://t.co/PGBcSI977b

2nd double digit win against a quality opponent without jaylen, celtics are playing good, horf was ridiculous tonight

lag∞n, Friday, 4 March 2022 03:04 (four years ago)

tatum was just doing whatever he wanted in the 4th

lag∞n, Friday, 4 March 2022 03:05 (four years ago)

lol

How did Ime Udoka turn the Celtics around tonight?

"I'm coach of the month."

it's interesting, ja ended up scoring 38 to tatum's 37 but being there everyone in the building was waiting for him to do crazy stuff and outside of the one nice alley oop, we just didn't feel him as a force. the celtics did a good job of walling off the rim and while he hit a couple threes it was too late to matter.

tatum otoh was having a nice, fairly normal game for 3 quarters and then as you say completely took over the 4th. the grizz have a bunch of defensive-minded players and no one could do anything with him.

ime agrees

Ime Udoka thought the Celtics were sharp on Ja Morant for the most part: “It’s the quietest 38 I’ve ever seen.”

grant trending

In the course of ten days we've gone from @ChrisForsberg_ projecting 4/$32-36M for a Grant extension to @jacksobd saying 4/$40M to @JaredWeissNBA saying "mid-teens per year" and now Zach giving him love in "10 Things"

horf has been so good this year even without his shot falling just such a gamer super active, the play at 1:15 here where he grabs the rebound dribbles past all the grizzlies and sets tatum up for a dunk was wild thats a 35 y/o center manufacturing a fast break bucket where there really wasnt one

thats a fact

lag∞n, Friday, 4 March 2022 17:05 (four years ago)

the kemba for horford exchange illustrates something really enlightening about the difference between a guy who is useless (with all due respect) if he’s not scoring vs. a guy who can do a ton of other useful things if he’s not scoring. al still impacts games regularly with his defense and passing and rebounding.

He has looked unstoppable the last few games. Such a pleasure to watch him work. Huge win, playoff atmosphere for what felt like the whole game

Lavator Shemmelpennick, Sunday, 6 March 2022 21:20 (four years ago)

yeah great game felt like the celtics pretty solidly outplayed them but a lot of random stuff went the nets way

lag∞n, Sunday, 6 March 2022 21:29 (four years ago)

notable in the full highlights how many unfortunate defensive switches the nets executed with someone pretty hopeless ending up on tatum.

call all destroyer, Sunday, 6 March 2022 21:43 (four years ago)

yeah their supporting cast is pretty suspect

lag∞n, Sunday, 6 March 2022 22:09 (four years ago)

true and the rest were kyrie switching on lol

call all destroyer, Sunday, 6 March 2022 22:44 (four years ago)

their guard rotation is not strong defensively

lag∞n, Sunday, 6 March 2022 22:58 (four years ago)

wow this game was pretty good huh?

in a way it’s slightly alarming that the celtics can play out of their minds at home against maybe not the best defensive team in the east and still have it be that close but i guess you are dealing with two crazy talents (and i do mean crazy! speaking of which i wasn’t thrilled that kyrie embraced tatum like that after the final whistle, breathing all over him etc)

they really went at it, just all out shit - ridiculously fun to watch

Tracer Hand, Monday, 7 March 2022 22:36 (four years ago)

yeah great game, i felt like the celtics played pretty good D and the nets had some fluky stuff go their way, kd was obvs unstoppable but they had some success trapping him down the stretch

lag∞n, Monday, 7 March 2022 22:40 (four years ago)

when the score started creeping up over 100 with most of the fourth left to play it felt like a bad sign but the threes were falling and nobody could stop tatum. unbelievable to me that he’s only just turned 24.

i thought they were just tremendous defensively. it’s a sight to see.

Tracer Hand, Monday, 7 March 2022 22:46 (four years ago)

he seems to come on after the all star break every year

lag∞n, Monday, 7 March 2022 23:05 (four years ago)

celtics were in 11th place and out of the play in about two months ago, half a game out of fourth and first round home court now

lag∞n, Tuesday, 8 March 2022 02:38 (four years ago)

good piece in the athletic today about defending durant, even tho he torched them seems like they have the right idea, basically kept him off the line and out of the paint force him to take contested midrange which obvs he did, but he did have 7 tos which is crucial, then they got even more aggressive with him late forced the ball out of his hands

lag∞n, Tuesday, 8 March 2022 16:26 (four years ago)

will be interesting to see how the nets integrate the non shooter ben simmons into the offense, seems like theyll prob just play him at center which might be the same diff as theyre giving minutes to non shooting centers now anyway, he could be dangerous as a roll man but is prob a liability when kd gets trapped, wonder if theyll sit him in crunch time

lag∞n, Tuesday, 8 March 2022 16:30 (four years ago)

seems like kd doesnt always make the best reads out of double team he missed an open kyrie one pass away at the 3pt line trying to completely pointlessly hit claxton in the high post which resulted in a turnover anyway

lag∞n, Tuesday, 8 March 2022 16:38 (four years ago)

video of said play https://cdn.theathletic.com/app/uploads/2022/03/08011834/25.mp4

lag∞n, Tuesday, 8 March 2022 16:42 (four years ago)

seems like itd be better to have kyrie initiate the offense and run actions for kd

lag∞n, Tuesday, 8 March 2022 16:45 (four years ago)

for as great as he is kd has never been someone where you just put the ball in his hands every time down the floor and you get good offense out of it. if the nets end up playing that way i think you live with it and go at them on the other end.

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 8 March 2022 16:57 (four years ago)

i'm not sure the celtics really did anything wrong with KD, i mean when rob williams has his hand right in your face, 100% contested, and you still drain it, what can you do? and he just never seemed to miss. i do think the celtics got slightly lucky that tatum had a career game and pretty much every 3 went in but still, a lot of things went bklyn's way too.

watching kyrie with the ball is always such an incredible experience, arms and legs everywhere, like a muppet on fast-forward

Tracer Hand, Tuesday, 8 March 2022 16:59 (four years ago)

yeah celtics prob defended kd as good as you can he got hot from the midrange but also turned the ball over a bunch

lag∞n, Tuesday, 8 March 2022 17:08 (four years ago)

yeah its always been his weakness. he and russ had some rough end of game moments together in big games

jammin on the dud (Spottie), Tuesday, 8 March 2022 17:45 (four years ago)

gets into the hero ball thing, and while his length gives him a huge advantage for passing out of double teams, it's generally not quality offense

Lavator Shemmelpennick, Tuesday, 8 March 2022 17:57 (four years ago)

yeah seems like a no brainer to have kyrie initiate tho obvs he can get lost in hero ball too and is worse at it

lag∞n, Tuesday, 8 March 2022 18:00 (four years ago)

nice luxury tho to have two of the best hero ballers ever so you can just ride the hot hand on any given night

jammin on the dud (Spottie), Tuesday, 8 March 2022 18:04 (four years ago)
