lol the foul situation at the end is nuts. you’re calling nothing on smart but facu’s foul was even less detectable

lol that shit was funny, zach zarba "its nothing", salute
― lag∞n, Saturday, 12 February 2022 20:08 (four years ago)
if i had to guess at the reasoning its that facu got all up in his space fouled him and then marcus just pushed to get him off, overall i like the call no need to issue a tech in crunch time of a close game for something so minor
― lag∞n, Saturday, 12 February 2022 20:10 (four years ago)
maybe in the playoffs there’s no call at allsorry for your L kev (not sorry), looks like it was a fun game to be at anyway

another streaky night from tatum and brown looked off. what was more concerning was a weird run in i think the early 4th quarter when every time down the floor resulted in sort of desperate iso moves, not just brown but even white were just trying to like... i dunno post up and go 1-on-5 against the entire hawks defense, trying to draw fouls, putting up ugly floaters? i mean cmon that's marcus smart's job
was thrilling to see tatum finally heat up and pritchard's defense was actually pretty good for most of his minutes
and yeah i've fallen in love with grant williams again
― Tracer Hand, Monday, 14 February 2022 09:50 (four years ago)
celtics offense continues to mystify
― lag∞n, Monday, 14 February 2022 18:24 (four years ago)
i think tatum has the slowest release on a three i’ve ever seen. it’s like he’s cranking up the arm of a crane. creeeeeeeak
― Tracer Hand, Monday, 14 February 2022 18:49 (four years ago)
his shot is idk what youd call it really long like it starts with a super low dip then goes into a two motion with a really high release, he also often especially when open pauses on the dip to gather himself doesnt seem ideal tbh kinda crazy he shoots as well as he does
― lag∞n, Monday, 14 February 2022 19:20 (four years ago)
or at least has shot as well as he has until this season lol
― lag∞n, Monday, 14 February 2022 19:22 (four years ago)
tatum is a great example of how spot up 3-pt shooting and off the dribble 3-pt shooting are completely different skills for a lot of guys, like you'd never say someone who gets off as many stepbacks as he does has a "slow release," but then yeah if you hit him for an open spot up he looks a million times worse than guys who can just catch it in the pocket and launch.
― call all destroyer, Monday, 14 February 2022 19:27 (four years ago)
yeah i feel like tatum's shot is really built around it not being blockable by the man guarding him, like it's a very one on one oriented motion. so he has this elongated way of raising it up really high and getting it off over a contesting hand & when there's no one in front of him it all looks kinda unnecessary
― J0rdan S., Monday, 14 February 2022 19:35 (four years ago)
i thought that the white-smart-brown-tatum + whoever mix looked kinda nice for the c's yesterday. if white or smart was at all a reliable three point shooter they'd really have something there. but they have nice flexibility off that 4, they can play big or small depending on what makes sense. i could see the argument against the trade insofar as they will give up a decent-ish pick to upgrade a team that still prob has a low ceiling this year but i thought their main 4 looked noticeably better yesterday in terms of fit and style than what they had w/ schroeder. i think it speaks well of brad's GMing just in terms of identifying a player on a different team that works off his core guys even if the price in terms of assets & contracts might've been a tad high
― J0rdan S., Monday, 14 February 2022 19:36 (four years ago)
yeah getting white was a home run imo insofar as getting a non star can be a home run, it was a double maybe
― lag∞n, Monday, 14 February 2022 19:41 (four years ago)
idk how far the celtics can go this year but having a great d def gives them a chance to make a run especially considering no one in the east is looking dominant but getting white was for sure more of a long term move
― lag∞n, Monday, 14 February 2022 19:45 (four years ago)
the 538 projections have them at 3rd-best chances to win the championship, which is.....really something.
i was fairly surprised by some of the lukewarm response i saw to the white trade given that to me he's a slam-dunk obvious fit with this group for the next three years.
― call all destroyer, Monday, 14 February 2022 20:09 (four years ago)
i do wonder if the point differential based systems might be a bit off on them bcuz they beat the no longer existent kings team by 50 points, the g league nets team by 30 points, the heat the game after they went to 3 OTs and sat butler by 30. good wins & i'm sure there's some garbage time filtering happening w/ some of the more advanced systems but it feels like their point differential is a bit goosed at the moment
― J0rdan S., Monday, 14 February 2022 20:21 (four years ago)
oh 100% that's the case.
― call all destroyer, Monday, 14 February 2022 20:23 (four years ago)
i mean blow outs are good its a thing that good teams do but it does seem like one could and maybe some do add a mechanism to their model to determine if a team has all their guys or not for a game cause 538 prob thinks the celtics blew out the good heat and nets
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 15 February 2022 01:51 (four years ago)
although maybe at this point the nets are not considered good anymore lol
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 15 February 2022 01:52 (four years ago)
i contend that the energy had already shifted

i don’t know that i’ve ever seen them move the ball like this. open looks absolutely everywhere.i’m worried about marcus’ ankle.
― Tracer Hand, Wednesday, 16 February 2022 17:08 (four years ago)
yeah hopefully its not some really bad sprain and hes just out a week or two most of which is eaten up by the all star break
― lag∞n, Wednesday, 16 February 2022 17:10 (four years ago)
ball movement has been great stunning really everything i could hope for love when the ball just zips all over the place best kind of offense
― lag∞n, Wednesday, 16 February 2022 17:31 (four years ago)
Totally, all the more satisfying because they really haven’t been great at that in the Tatum era. Really speaks to the differences between guys like Schroder and White that Don’t Show Up In The Box Score
― Lavator Shemmelpennick, Wednesday, 16 February 2022 18:03 (four years ago)
dennis schroder god bless him is an extremely limited basketball player
― lag∞n, Wednesday, 16 February 2022 18:06 (four years ago)
and yeah white is a really good ball mover noticed a bunch of plays where hes jumped in the air for a catch and passed it before he hit the ground, caught where he easily couldve taken a dribble or two but just swung it right away etc
― lag∞n, Wednesday, 16 February 2022 18:10 (four years ago)
marcus listed as doubtful instead of out could be a good sign
