i get what both teams are doing here insofar as they're trading from positional log jams to better balance out their rosters but it also feels like deck chair rearranging for both of them, like i'm not sure either team is actually much better after this. feels like halfway on the fly rebuilds.

the pacers are at least getting shooting and some playmaking, feel like once myles turner comes back they'll resemble more of a carlisle team in that they'll basically never post up at any point ever. their center will essentially just be a small forward offensively. brogdon, halliburton, duarte, hield, turner is a line up that should score some points and again it's def resembles a carlisle roster but it's also lacking star power badly & idk how they get it unless they hit on another paul george style draft pick

the kings i mean they prob needed to shake up their roster and sabonis is at least verifiably good and reliable, but they might be the single worst shooting team in the NBA now. it's like harrison barnes and not a single other player who can make a three pointer

I would argue the pacers got better. Maybe not right now but landing Halliburton who should only get better is big. They could prob flip hield into something although he’s been complete ass this year.

they prob did get better, at the very least they got a less rigid player who is also younger/cheaper. but what is their path to the second round of the playoffs lots of unanswered questions, but i guess you can only make one move at a time

it's interesting they were willing to bet on turner over him esp given his recent injury. just feel like carlisle doesn't fuck w/ the way sabonis plays and was happy to get him out of there and open things up

they have a good draft pick (and the cavs pick) this year, 27M of expirings in rubio and thompson, and they can move brogdon next season. they're pretty well set up to keep making moves

wonder if it's bcuz guys like lavert, sabonis, halliburton, CJ have been on the market/in trade discussions for a while so teams had a pretty good idea what the offers were looking like around the league. the norm powell one i feel like is the one that really came out of nowhere. i mean nobody had sabonis to the kings for halliburton but ppl have been talking about those guys in trades for months now

yeah it does make you think that some of these structures have been in place for a while and teams knew what the best offers out there were.

Haliburton was “shocked” when informed of the deal by his representatives and then moments later by GM Monte McNair.

He’s packing his belongings and is heading to Indianapolis tomorrow.

this has actually been a consistent (if low key) rumour for a while. or at least that the kings wanted sabonis, though getting haliburton for him was less likely than getting fox
