book got tagged as an empty points guy early in his career, which IMHO is unfair

yeah he clearly proved hes more than that over the years and washed it away completely last season. his defensive improvement is good to see. he moves without the ball and is unselfish. maybe its just cos hes one of those fundamental gets-to-his-spots mid-range-y guys and rarely makes any highlight reels? i mean the two biggest things hes know for over the last couple years is being mad he got doubled in a pickup game and getting mad at a dinosaur mascot.

booker clearly needed a good team to be built around him & for a real elite PG to step in, but you could take any of the other players in their line up -- including cp3, as we saw last year -- and i think they could still win a lot of playoff games. but if you took booker out that team would struggle to score in crunch time vs locked in defenses. maybe ppl just take him putting up 25 ppg in the regular season as ho hum nowadays but in the offs that skill plays up

i can see why ppl might think they could fit together but simmons and porzingis together just seems like a disaster

i dont see the problem from a fit perspective, they are both kind of general disasters tho

porzingis has been playing really well as of late but i have only seen him play the blazers recently so that's a meaningless assessment

he's had a good season for sure. an issue w/ him and getting another guy is that in theory he's an easy "fit" bcuz he can space the floor but if you listen to/read anything about the mavs ppl openly talk about him becoming a malcontent when he's asked to just stand around and shoot threes

best case scenario they could add simmons and just have very good team ball/player movement with everyone involved but thats prob not the most likely outcome

i still want simmons to end up in charlotte, him + lonzo + bridges is an ideal scenario for him imo, they'd be a complete terror in transition and they could just switch everything on defense. but it doesn't sound like they're anywhere near the discussions

seems bad to throw ben into a good vibes team situation, otoh he might be soothed by the vibez

as a barely-living survivor of kyrie's corruption and ruination of the celtics, you're taking a big risk putting a malcontent on a big contract with nice young guys who don't know any better

kyrie was a champion though, simmons I would imagine does not command the same sort of respect among his peers

this is a good point. i don't think it would be exactly the same, but i think simmons would still have an outsized idea of his abilities and place in the pecking order which could be pretty harmful.
