There's a reason why flagrant fouls are treated differently from fouls that occur in the course of normal play. They are very dangerous to players even when they are unintentional. Allen will gladly and intentionally commit a flagrant 1 in any situation where he thinks it might benefit his team.

To Matt's mind, this is nbd. Matt is not and never will be the player on the receiving end of a flagrant 1 delivered by a NBA-sized athlete, but he might change his mind about 'nbd' if he ever caught one.

there should be three levels of flagrant (third one you get beat up)

thought the initial play was just a hard foul but he went too far by then swinging around with the right arm. you can't do that with his rep and not expect to get tossed

i was once sent to the infirmary by a cherokee parks elbow, so i'm sure aimless will defer to my judgment on these matters

^agree. That's not a 'normal' foot motion while defending. Allen attempted to trip Rose, but to do so surreptitiously enough that the refs wouldn't catch him.

that little sideways kick was a 'veteran move', but only among veterans who play the game like that. it's the seamy side of the "scrappy player who does all the little things that don't show up on the stat sheet".
