no one could understand the forbes signing over here either. my guess was it was a favor to him to get him a decent contract in the offseason and then try to send him to a playoff team which they did. he's one of their rose-up-from-the-gleague undrafted success stories and they like to take care of their own.

and honestly i know juancho hasnt played much but the spurs desperately need a legit PF and juancho at least has the right size for it, worth kicking the tires on this season imo

feels real. detroit would certainly have no reason not to offer that, and i wouldn't be excited about it either.

saw there was an article today about how joel is totally on board with morey taking forever to trade simmons, which idk what the point of planting these obviously planted stories is

seems like there's a problem with maxing out the value you're gonna get on a guy if everyone's last memories of the him is "i don't want to dunk and we lost" and "i did practice with my phone in my pocket" and "everyone on my team hates me" and also that was months and months ago, not exactly sure what ol' dar's really thinking here

yeah simmons couldve just had a bad playoffs in a normal way and still been well regarded around the league but being scared to shoot and then refusing to show up to work can not have been good for his stock

feel like theres a good chance the sixers are bluffing here and will end up taking some sort of deal like detroits

his stock basically bottomed out with one single non-injury related play which is completely unheard of. his teammates and coaches reactions to it just made it worse they coulda easily been like man he just thought the defender was there and made the wrong read he's still amazing and a part of our future but instead doc was like yeaaaaah lol he sucks and we cant win with him. pretty baffling to me that doc survived that honestly. basically burned a massive asset and at minimum half a season of other players to help.

beys shooting numbers are concerning but other than that seems like a pretty good deal + they could bring in a third team to flip that pick for another guy and end up pretty stacked

that deal would make even more sense if bey had made improvements on his rookie season but yeah instead hes shooting 38/33 splits with a green light

if detroit gave them their unprotected or lightly protected 2023 pick thats pretty valuable

i'm honestly a little more confused about that deal for detroit! but at least they've got the right idea (playing ben at a position that is not point guard)

detroit is looking around and saying hey why not play ben simmons at center after all he is tall and cannot shoot

ben rejects this thesis and would sulk at center

i highly doubt simmons ends up in detroit but if you were gonna build a team around simmons cade cunningham would be a pretty great fit i think in that a. he’s a perimeter player b. he seems to have a high basketball IQ, is a good passer etc. feel like they could figure some stuff out if they had some shooting around them

watched the pistons last night and the dubs were up by ~40 at one point, just some of the worst defense you can imagine. warriors were playing at about 75% speed and were walking into layups, backdoor cuts or kicking out to 3s with no one within 15 feet. just truly detestable play. ben would help there big time.

cade skill set is the same reason why i like the combo of ben and lamelo

hornets should def be trying to get ben

i think the problem there is the sixers would likely want bridges and i don’t think i’d do that if i was philly. but if you could give them any other amount/combo of players and a pick or two i’d strongly consider it. lonzo + bridges + simmons would be a nightmare in transition & could play some interesting switchable defense too
