i understand the hesitance to do a full teardown especially in a market like that, you could go another 10=15 years not making the playoffs & just be totally in the wilderness. if they kept dame and tried to put a new team around them i wouldn't blame them. but aside from him they should be selling off anything that isn't simons or little. you'd figure that nance, covington, nurkic have value to contenders. CJ may not be tradable on that deal unless he comes back before the deadline and looks great

ppl have talked about it being a complicated situation there between stotts being forced out, paul allen dying, just seems like a big power vacuum there right now at a time when they really need someone to make some important decisions for the longterm future of the franchise

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 12 January 2022 23:09 (four years ago)

otm xp
https://www.basketball-reference.com/contracts/POR.html
roco and nurk is 24 million expiring and they could both help out a team for a playoff push
nance is only making 10 per year for one season no reason they cant get something for him
CJ might have to play a bit to show he's still got it but his is the hardest to trade cos hes paid like a max player but is a few tiers below.
Dame is for sure tradable if teams were willing to trade for the corpse of john wall then dame is no prob
maybe hang onto simons and little but no reason they are untouchable

Spottie, Wednesday, 12 January 2022 23:20 (four years ago)

fwiw the going theory on cj is he does not want to leave and is delaying his return from injury to make sure he isn't traded

i broadly agree with jordan and have been in full burn it down mode since last summer, but i just don't see it happening with this coach (nobody seems to see billups seeing the end of his contract), absolutely no real front office, ownership nowhere to be seen, etc etc. power vacuum is putting it lightly, there's no rudder on the ship at all

Clay, Wednesday, 12 January 2022 23:29 (four years ago)

full tear down is looking pretty good for them rn tbh, particularly considering dames age and his generally being on the verge of demanding a trade vibe

lag∞n, Wednesday, 12 January 2022 23:29 (four years ago)

for sure, but whos making the calls lol

Spottie, Wednesday, 12 January 2022 23:31 (four years ago)

been a sad state of affairs since allen died

Spottie, Wednesday, 12 January 2022 23:32 (four years ago)

im making the calls and everyone goes

lag∞n, Wednesday, 12 January 2022 23:32 (four years ago)

finally a leader of men

Clay, Wednesday, 12 January 2022 23:38 (four years ago)

im the guy

lag∞n, Thursday, 13 January 2022 00:01 (four years ago)

a full tear down might make the most sense for them (prob does) but i’m not sure it’s looking all that good for them. they don’t even have a permanent GM. if they hire the wrong guy it could easily end up in a situation where you’re making a bunch of 4th, 5th, 6th overall picks and not turning up any superstars & you’re just in this kings, magic, bulls before this season kind of treadmill of mediocrity

We'll reach the midpoint of the NBA regular-season schedule tonight with the Cleveland-Utah game.

ciderpress, Thursday, 13 January 2022 01:21 (four years ago)

i know the owner is a weirdo but the grizz seem really well-run up and down the organization. that's such a great promo.

v big 'non-flagship university trying to get students to stop wearing the sports merch from the big athletic colleges from their state' energy

class project pat (m bison), Thursday, 13 January 2022 01:59 (four years ago)

For sure, but sometimes buying fans works

Spottie, Thursday, 13 January 2022 02:03 (four years ago)

xp what a thing to say about your small-market brethren!

call all destroyer, Thursday, 13 January 2022 02:13 (four years ago)

other than a few lame-o laker bandwagonners, we dont have this problem!

class project pat (m bison), Thursday, 13 January 2022 02:13 (four years ago)

yeah, that's very clever.

i cannot help if you made yourself not funny (forksclovetofu), Thursday, 13 January 2022 02:23 (four years ago)

would be cool if memphis turned into a real griz town, why not seems fun

lag∞n, Thursday, 13 January 2022 02:27 (four years ago)

how do you even live within 50 miles of memphis and not want to be A Ja Guy

Clay, Thursday, 13 January 2022 02:30 (four years ago)

i ja i guy

lag∞n, Thursday, 13 January 2022 02:31 (four years ago)

Morant is way more fun to watch than Z-Bo was.

more difficult than I look (Aimless), Thursday, 13 January 2022 02:32 (four years ago)

the grizz aren't the main deal in town or anything but i watched plenty of grit and grind playoff games where the crowd was pretty awesome. and yeah ja will only help.

call all destroyer, Thursday, 13 January 2022 02:45 (four years ago)

Morant is way more fun to watch than Z-Bo was.

Grit and grind were cool but not the most fun brand of hoop. Ja is the kinda guy to bring in fans out side of Memphis

Spottie, Thursday, 13 January 2022 02:50 (four years ago)

+ this team has a higher celling

lag∞n, Thursday, 13 January 2022 02:52 (four years ago)

lmao joe ingles two techs in the first half!

lag∞n, Thursday, 13 January 2022 02:54 (four years ago)

hahah what set him off?

call all destroyer, Thursday, 13 January 2022 02:56 (four years ago)

idk i missed both the plays

lag∞n, Thursday, 13 January 2022 02:58 (four years ago)

he did look quite mad tho

lag∞n, Thursday, 13 January 2022 02:58 (four years ago)

jazz only had nine guys dressed too

lag∞n, Thursday, 13 January 2022 02:59 (four years ago)

they have no centers from the looks of things

call all destroyer, Thursday, 13 January 2022 03:10 (four years ago)

The Hawks are truly a mess

Heez, Thursday, 13 January 2022 04:07 (four years ago)

man they looked down bad tonight. nine home losses in a row. they have 2 more vs the heat in the next 10 days & it will be interesting to see how those go bcuz there’s a big, um, coherence gap between those two teams right now

feels like a weirdly anonymous year from huerter. his percentages are better but i just feel like whenever i catch the hawks this year i forget he’s even out there

on the plus side i thought hunter’s three point shot looked good but to say the least he obv can’t solve their defensive issues just by being on the court

J0rdan S., Thursday, 13 January 2022 04:27 (four years ago)

Seems like nate has run his course there

Spottie, Thursday, 13 January 2022 04:34 (four years ago)

i have to say… i do enjoy watching kevin durant james harden and kyrie irving play basketball

J0rdan S., Thursday, 13 January 2022 04:35 (four years ago)

i do too but they need to lose every game

call all destroyer, Thursday, 13 January 2022 04:40 (four years ago)

that is a defensible position

J0rdan S., Thursday, 13 January 2022 04:44 (four years ago)

nets just spanking the bulls up and down the court

J0rdan S., Thursday, 13 January 2022 04:56 (four years ago)

maybe they could win one game then lose one for the rest of the season

i cannot help if you made yourself not funny (forksclovetofu), Thursday, 13 January 2022 05:00 (four years ago)

bucks taking a different approach this year

The Bucks are showing or blitzing on 15.4 picks per 100 possessions, the second-highest rate in the NBA per Second Spectrum. That figure is more than double the league average this year (roughly seven per 100), and more than triple their rate from last season (roughly 4.5).

The Bucks may be the defending champs, but they’re still evolving 👀@NekiasNBA breaks down how their defense is getting more aggressive:https://t.co/EuOZpL4SpI
