kyrie is a legitimately great scorer he can go out and get you a shot, and hit it too, its just the everything else thats not really at alltime levels

I watched a lot of CP and Kobe at their peaks but one thing with Kobe in those years is that when Kobe was on the floor you were never out of a game. The dude would just have these moments where he could dominate a game like no others.

i mean kobe was obviously a legit great player, but also he was a chucker

lag∞n, Tuesday, 11 January 2022 21:29 (four years ago)

they were almost teammates that wouulda been something

Spottie, Tuesday, 11 January 2022 21:30 (four years ago)

kobe prob wouldve been a better player without all that psycho a-dog pop psychology bs he built his image on, which is ironic

lag∞n, Tuesday, 11 January 2022 21:31 (four years ago)

that was also an era thing tho. and as kobe aged he got worse and the chucking stood out even more as teams/players were getting smarter and more analytically sound. watching old kobe/iverson highlights is hilarious so many shots with their heels on the 3 point line.

also funny cos he became a big ol softy as soon as he left the game. makes you wonder if he woulda been ok with a different approach to the game.

Spottie, Tuesday, 11 January 2022 21:33 (four years ago)

i think cp vs wade comes down to whether you have the discussion on holistic career consistency and longevity terms vs i’m playing some theoretical basketball game and i’m picking guys based on a 7-8 year peak or whatever. there were some up and down seasons in wade’s run & he was done as an elite player by like age 32, but you look at the years after he established himself in the league and he’s putting up 28-5-7 with 2.5 spg & 1 bpg, couldn’t shoot at all from three but was well over 50% from inside the arc, got to the line like a maniac, crazy athlete, major playmaker on both ends of the court. it’s totally fair to say that guy was better than even the best of chris paul, imo

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 11 January 2022 21:35 (four years ago)

he was a freaking psychopath that willed himself to be as good as he was. I don't think he could have operated in a different way.

(•̪●) (carne asada), Tuesday, 11 January 2022 21:36 (four years ago)

thats the story he told

lag∞n, Tuesday, 11 January 2022 21:36 (four years ago)

i do think he was legitimately a psychopath tho or something like that

lag∞n, Tuesday, 11 January 2022 21:37 (four years ago)

kobe is prob a more efficient and “better” player on paper if he has a different personality but idk if i’d wanna take his maniacal drive & general psychotic state of existence away from him. i mean there’s something that separates him from like tmac & james harden and it’s not just injury luck

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 11 January 2022 21:38 (four years ago)

also if you're talking "influence on the game"; I actually think Kobe was a bad influence on a lot of players. when Brandon Jennings was chucking up 30+ shots a game for the Bucks including every crunch time basket I have no doubt he was thinking about Kobe the whole time

frogbs, Tuesday, 11 January 2022 21:39 (four years ago)

can we step back from the bryant corp pr for a moment

lag∞n, Tuesday, 11 January 2022 21:39 (four years ago)

yeah i mean kobe wasn't necessarily physically gifted or anything

(•̪●) (carne asada), Tuesday, 11 January 2022 21:40 (four years ago)

Kobe was the best player in the nba for one season. At one point Pau was the best player on the Lakers.

Spottie, Tuesday, 11 January 2022 21:47 (four years ago)

there was a deadspin post on this exact topic wrt kobe

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 11 January 2022 21:48 (four years ago)

evan mobley out here making careers

god bless

2005-06 LeBron James, 9.5 (Kobe 6.5, 5th)

I must be reading this wrong or it must be an error or something, because when I click on the actual article I see Kobe ranked 2nd, not 5th.

Mr. Snrub, Wednesday, 12 January 2022 01:23 (four years ago)

garland and mobley looking like great picks and he stole jarrett allen but idk, it's still just koby altman

I think he had one season as the best pretty clearly (I think it was 2011), probably 6 or 7 in the top 5?

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 12 January 2022 01:38 (four years ago)

Wade is weird because his status as best player was really just one playoff run

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 12 January 2022 01:39 (four years ago)

dubs call a timeout, follow it up with two turnovers and an airball, griz by 18

lag∞n, Wednesday, 12 January 2022 01:53 (four years ago)

griz are good. dubs are due to come back to earth imo. curry has quietly been bad and they’re getting a lot out of guys who haven’t really proven themselves and/or are old

auld gang syne (k3vin k.), Wednesday, 12 January 2022 01:57 (four years ago)

well, they’re playing without draymond tonight

insane behind the back pass on the fast break by steph

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 12 January 2022 02:02 (four years ago)

love to watch klay thompson hit The Three Point Shot

Clay, Wednesday, 12 January 2022 02:07 (four years ago)

ball bounces off klays face then hand before going out of bounds with a ref looking on four feet away, dubs ball, klay drains a three, lmao

lag∞n, Wednesday, 12 January 2022 02:09 (four years ago)

this is unbelievable!

Ball hits Klay Thompson twice before going out, Zach Zarba (staring at floor) gives it to Warriors pic.twitter.com/GmF0EBW7js

Also I’m pretty sure klay’s toe was on the line on that 3

Heez, Wednesday, 12 January 2022 02:16 (four years ago)

KG's massively underrated according to that VORP article

symsymsym, Wednesday, 12 January 2022 02:40 (four years ago)

not amongst me

lag∞n, Wednesday, 12 January 2022 02:45 (four years ago)

minnesota timberwolves where reputations go to die

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 12 January 2022 02:47 (four years ago)

Minnesota KG feels like a forgotten great. Like people remember the still amazing Celtic, but not the guy who led his team in every single stat for a season. Highest non-Lebron VORP on that list.

symsymsym, Wednesday, 12 January 2022 02:48 (four years ago)

recall haralabob saying over the decade or whatever timeframe he had his own statistical system for gambling which involved his people logging every play that kg had the single best season

lag∞n, Wednesday, 12 January 2022 02:48 (four years ago)

there's also some version of KG where he comes along like 15-20 years later & decides it's ok to shoot threes & his stat profile looks even more insane

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 12 January 2022 02:50 (four years ago)

he did shoot threes for one season and it did not go well but maybe he just didnt give it enough chance

lag∞n, Wednesday, 12 January 2022 02:51 (four years ago)

KG shooting threes just seems antithetical to KG's spirit

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 12 January 2022 03:01 (four years ago)

seen ziaire williams finish three oops this game and i have not watched the whole thing

lag∞n, Wednesday, 12 January 2022 03:06 (four years ago)

he jumps good

online poll reveals fans think the three and four seeds are the biggest threats to the current top two seeds in the west. color announcer agrees.

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 12 January 2022 03:15 (four years ago)

probabilistically the best choices!

auld gang syne (k3vin k.), Wednesday, 12 January 2022 03:16 (four years ago)

feel like klay is still being a bit ginger w/ his leaping but it does not look like he has a lot of lift
