unclear to me why teams would rather do this than have games postponed? i guess they’d rather take losses now than have a compressed schedule closer to the playoffs? or is the league just outright forcing them to sign guys and keep things going

The Athletic had a nice article about what an amazing opportunity this is for so many guys who are out of the league to showcase themselves and get another shot to make an impression. But yeah, for all other parties involved the most cynical read seems to be the right one
