luka trae booker... not sure who else, lot of season left tho
― lag∞n, Monday, 27 December 2021 17:09 (two years ago) link
A lot of bucks players have been out too. Haven’t had their starting center or 2guard basically all season.
― Spottie, Monday, 27 December 2021 17:30 (two years ago) link
derozan might be the leader at this point, even tho he’s clearly a SF in the bulls line up i think ppl could fudge it and call him a SG if they wanted. maybe lavine as well tho he’s not even been the best player on his team so that would be tough. strictly statistically speaking, harden has a real case. maybe donovan mitchell too. as natasha benningfield said, the rest is still unwritten
― J0rdan S., Monday, 27 December 2021 17:34 (two years ago) link
i was listening to the recent zach lowe pod w/ arnovitz and they were talking about how much of atlanta’s defensive problems are related to trae, it makes me feel like he can’t really be a first team player at this point tho if he puts up these offensive numbers all year he’ll make one of the three teams
― J0rdan S., Monday, 27 December 2021 17:37 (two years ago) link
Lol harden hell no
― Spottie, Monday, 27 December 2021 17:41 (two years ago) link
Derozan and Lavine are both averaging 26/5/4 which is pretty wild. Derozan gets to the line a little more but Lavine is a 40% 3 point shooter
― Spottie, Monday, 27 December 2021 17:47 (two years ago) link
harden's shooting numbers are down and he doesn't really pass the eye test based on what we imagine him to be but he's still putting up 21-8-10. and in december that's up to 23-8-11.
― J0rdan S., Monday, 27 December 2021 17:48 (two years ago) link
He just hasn’t been an all nba first team player. The eye test is important. He could get there by the end of the year.
― Spottie, Monday, 27 December 2021 17:56 (two years ago) link

you could argue that jokic is statistically lapping the league *offensively* which btw i wouldn’t agree with
what stats are u looking at?
― k3vin k., Tuesday, 28 December 2021 00:14 (two years ago) link
i understand what the stats say. but PER and other efficiency and/or advanced numbers are not the omniscient narrators of basketball. i think you could very reasonably argue that giannis is the most dominant offensive player in the NBA. i think you could also argue that raw scoring & shooting is so much more important than any other facet of basketball that, actually, KD or steph are better offensive players than jokic. you could of course quite reasonably argue that jokic is the best offensive player. but to act like there’s no discussion to be had because of PER & other type stats — i don’t agree with that.
― J0rdan S., Tuesday, 28 December 2021 00:21 (two years ago) link
ok I mean I can see the argument that he’s not the best player or even having the best season I was just wondering what you meant by that because you specifically said “statistically”
― k3vin k., Tuesday, 28 December 2021 00:31 (two years ago) link
well im pretty sure most/every advanced number type stat would more or less support ice cr?m’s assertion that jokic is lapping the NBA offensively so that’s what i was referring to. perhaps i’m wrong & there are some that have other players at the top i haven’t looked at them all

One final @ESPNStatsInfo stat: Boston went 4-for-39 on catch-and-shoot 3s in this game. Since Second Spectrum began tracking games in 2013-14, there have been 482 games – including this one – where a team shot at least 35 C&S 3s. Boston's shooting tonight ranked 482nd among them.— Tim Bontemps (@TimBontemps) December 30, 2021

my mistake, MJ is the all time leader with 9, I missed the one he had with the wizards. The guy who compiled the list wrote an article about everyone who hit 4 or more:
